Evening, Firstly Eudora has been updated. But, it is an update in the elk of a Mozilla Thunderbird clone, although does behave as old Eudora, with a different engine. This is because Eudora owner Qualcomm has withdrawn product, and transferred it to open source working with Mozilla community to make it happen.
As for transferring your mail I always find it easier to open or have an IMAP account within my collection of providers. Hence, open an account with IMAP. Then you transfer all mail on your said machine to this IMAP account with whatever folder hierarchy in place. Once, new machine is functioning, just log into this account and you should have mail in place sorted, within mail client of choice. All future updates of machinery, just log into account. Mail client irrelevant. But can take time for mail clients to cache I would suggest provider of IMAP server who is not going to change too regular. ISP is a good bet, but some do not offer IMAP - ASK if don't??? Google a very good option as able to keep all regular email addresses just setup accordingly. HAS BAGGAGE - TRUST? Yahoo same as above ??? Apple iCloud, caution as Apple seem to change options regularly, New inclination of many systems before.. PROMISING THOUGH!! One huge issue with IMAP ideology is that your server will get fat and run out of space so need to delete all old emails as you go. Possibly archiving would be option, most providers should offer solution?? But email can now be viewed and answered wherever you are in world. Setup how mail boxes i.e. Draft, Junk, Sent are stored preferably server and all is defiantly retrievable. But remember folders do grow and space issue will surface. Cheers! `RobD….
