Thanks to all who gave advice. I tried with iSwifter but I could not make it work properly. I thought I had purchased the browser but I couldn't find it. The iPad screen seemed unresponsive.
I was forced into opening a Facebook account, but it would only show 1994-2012 as my birth year. It seems to have accepted 1994 so I am an 8 year old despite 17 being the minimum age to purchase the App. I decided I was not compatible with iSwifter ( too old and thick) so I gave up and purchased Photon. Photon works and I can listen to the archived shows. That is what I wanted. I shall have to wait to get the confirmation of my purchases to find if I actually purchased iSwifter as well. The WAMUG list has once again come up trumps!
