Thanks for the additional comments Ronni. I figured the external option would be a dead end, until they code it into the app. It's only 8GB so I'm happy to at least be operational now with all my books.
One minor issue when I select the books to synch in iTunes, after waiting a LONG time, (I think you mentioned or I read, the epubs in iBooks synchs with iTunes via the Apple store), it seems I have ALL 9516 books synched to my phone. I need to bulk deselect them so I can only select those I wish to carry on the iPhone. I saw a thread says "Command + right click" does this but iTunes takes forever to actually Select All so it's impossible to know when all are aelected. I think I'm doing something wrong here. At the moment I am unable to synch phone as I can't deselect all the books so sync operation fails due to inadequate storage space.
