…and the battery in my Citizen EcoDrive watch has never needed changing because it’s powered by the sun, but that’s not the point. All it does is tell me the time. It also purports to tell me the date, but the tiny display is far too small for me to read with glasses so it’s useless. My iPhone also tells me the time, but I hardly ever use it for that, although I do occasionally use it to make and receive phone calls. More commonly it’s increasingly a communication device of a different type, either text or pictures and sometimes movies, or it’s a handy waiting room distraction, a weather station, a road map and so much more, things I could never have imagined before having it. The same thing will happen with the Apple Watch. I can’t really justify the cost of one at the moment, simply because I can’t imagine how I’ would use it. the only thing I’m sure if is that one day I will see a need for one. Let’s face it, the Android side hasn’t had a great track record so far with their attempts in the genre, so it will be very interesting to see if Apple can truly show the way, as they have so often before. As usual, I’ll probably wait until at least version 2.
