I couldn¹t agree more Peter.

It¹s called a ³watch² because of its convenient location on our wrist. It
could and probably will be called something different before too long
when the full range of it¹s capabilities become understood. The convenience
of being able to conduct financial transactions with the flick of a wrist
rather than with a fumbling of the pocket or handbag, the convenience of
having critical medical data accurately recorded by the ³watch² and
available for a bluetooth download onto your GP¹s or specialist¹s computer
on your next visit, etc etc. Imagine what apps like Evernote or Strava will
be doing with the data beamed from the ³watch².

Maybe it¹s called a ³watch² by Apple as in them telling us to ³watch² this
space.

Šand the battery in my Citizen EcoDrive watch has never needed changing
because it¹s powered by the sun, but that¹s not the point. All it does is
tell me the time. It also purports to tell me the date, but the tiny display
is far too small for me to read with glasses so it¹s useless. My iPhone also
tells me the time, but I hardly ever use it for that, although I do
occasionally use it to make and receive phone calls. More commonly it¹s
increasingly a communication device of a different type, either text or
pictures and sometimes movies, or it¹s a handy waiting room distraction, a
weather station, a road map and so much more, things I could never have
imagined before having it.

The same thing will happen with the Apple Watch. I can¹t really justify the
cost of one at the moment, simply because I can¹t imagine how I¹ would use
it. the only thing I¹m sure if is that one day I will see a need for one.

Let¹s face it, the Android side hasn¹t had a great track record so far with
their attempts in the genre, so it will be very interesting to see if Apple
can truly show the way, as they have so often before. As usual, I¹ll
probably wait until at least version 2.
