Well, as one of the original Kickstarter backers of the Pebble
<https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/597507018/pebble-e-paper-watch-for-iph
one-and-android>
I can certainly vouch for some of the aspects of a ³connected² smart watch.

* I frequently used to miss calls due to not hearing my phone ring in my
pocket anywhere were there was almost any background noise I never miss
the Pebble vibrate alert!
* If I have forgotten to put my phone to silent at some event/performance, I
no longer have the embarrassment of fumbling for it to turn it off I just
reject the call with a quick, discreet, push of a button on the Pebble.
* When in the dark (eg concert), a quick flick of the wrist illuminates the
watch-face better (more discreet) than having to push buttons
particularly if you don¹t want someone to think you are ³clock-watching²
* It is quite fun to change watch-faces at the push of a button large
digital time/date for general use classic analogue for more dressy.
* It is quite fun to read an SMS off your watch!

Of course, the Pebble only needs charging around once a week as opposed to
every night I would really find that a pain.

I DO like that the Pebble is REALLY waterproof to 5ATM (go swimming or
surfing if you want)

One of these days, I must really go browse the Pebble app store to see just
what IS available to play with ;o)

It will be really interesting to see how the Apple Watch goes but it would
be a very expensive option for me I¹d also have to upgrade my iPhone!
However by the time they get to iWatch 3 (sorry, just have to call it the
iWatch, really) then it should be all fully sorted and I might have upgraded
my iPhone ;o)

Interestingly, Pebble have recently launched their new Kickstarter campaign
and are going VERY well. The original Pebble broke all Kickstarter records
(at the time) aiming to raise $100k and raising $10 million their new
campaign is doing the same aiming to raise $500k and currently at over
$18.6 million with 11 days to go.

And I could get a Pebble Time AND a Pebble Time Steel for around the price
of an Apple Watch though, so far, I¹m exercising restraint!

Cheers
