Hi John, Hi Alan,

Yes, like Alan, I also use Image Capture for both scanning and importing photos
from my iPhone.

I find Image capture works well with an old HP PhotoSmart multifunction printer.

Occasionally the HP gets "lost" from the "Devices" sidebar and the main window
shows "No camera or scanner connected".

Then I may need to connect/disconnect the USB connection and/or switch the
device On/Off but, eventually, I always get it recognised again and then
scanning proceeds as normal.

HTH

Cheers

Neil

    Hi John

A possible work around. The macOS app Image Capture may work. This will
bypass the built-in Canon software.

Image Capture worked with my obsolete Lexmark when its software was no
longer available. I now have an Epson scanner which works very well, but I
prefer to use Image Capture. I also use Image Capture for importing photos from
my iPhone and a Samsung Galaxy.

    Cheers,
    Alan

the Canon info site and generally spent half the day trying to get a scan from
