Thanks for this Ronni. I have yet to make the move to Catalina (2013 MBP
Retina). There is only one reason I am holding off for now and that is because
I have an MS Office licence installation (2011 - I know it’s a bit ancient) but
it is 32 bit and will be defunct when I shift to Catalina. I prefer the owned
software approach to the web licensing with annual renewal fees for what is a
VERY infrequently used software but no driving force to make a shift to Office
2016 or later.

But, notwithstanding the above, I have my Music library on an external drive
(along with my Photos library) and I wondered if this fact will be handled
seamlessly with upgrade to Catalina and subsequent opening of Apple Music app
and Finder etc?

Regards

Pete.
