Hi Walter Possibly it’s slightly different in Mojave. I’m running Big Sur on my main machines, but will reboot something to check in Mojave.
In Mojave, you can go to View menu and choose “Show Preview” or “hide Preview” - it will then show what each font looks like. It won’t show all the characters, but just an idea of what the select font looks like. The other methods, and the one Peter mentioned will give you some more options as well. So I’d say between that link, and a mix of all the info you hopefully should be able to get an idea. The other one I find quite useful (in the same sort of menu that Peter mentioned to add to the menu bar) is to have it also set to “Show Keyboard Viewer”. Then for example, if you’re looking for a particular “special character”, you can hold show that keyboard then hold down a modifier key to see what it does. For example, if you have that keyboard viewer open then hold down say “option” key - you’ll see the character change to show you other special characters. Say you want a copyright symbol. Would be option.-g to give ©/ Say you want an Apple logo - it would be Option-shift-k to give I find that can be also quite useful. Hope that helps.
