GLee was choosen AFAIK, because Buginator (i.e. the one who wrote the
patch) had difficulties with GLEW and MSVC, he didn't have those
difficulties with GLee.

I'm not sure what the specific difficulties where though. GLee
apparently worked out-of-the-box though, which GLEW didn't.
