John, You've made some large scale suggestions. From my take, the current community at Apache is *way* too small to take on any of what you're proposing.
For this to work, it is going to require fresh blood, and fresh coding volunteers. Note also, that you make some suggestions in your slide deck that could be incompatible with the way Apache works. Most notably the creation of a separate non-profit to fund development. Were such a thing to happen, it would have to be completely outside of the ASF structures, and anyone funded by it would have no greater influence than any other committer on the project - if they weren't a committer, they would have to become one by the same means as anyone else. So really, it is great to see the sense of vision you bring, but I'm particularly keen to see new volunteers turn up to help bring your ideas into reality.
