I really have to disagree here.  The OT control algorithm for a Wave
client is far more complicated than that used in the Jupiter system on
which Wave is based.  The server acknowledgement was introduced to
allow the server to maintain a single state space rather than a state
space per client.  The result being lower memory footprint on the
server at the expense of higher minimum latency between clients and
increased complexity in the OT algorithms.
