Subject: Thanksgiving Day Greeting!

First of all, I would like to say that I am thankful for Alan for all
that he does to keep the spirit of Mayberry alive. I am thankful for my
daily dose of WBMUTBB? Digest; when I've had a bad day, it cheers me up
and takes me to Mayberry for a few minutes! I am thankful for the new
friends I have met because of the digest and I want to wish everyone
reading a Happy Thanksgiving. I wanted to do this in a special way so I
designed a little webpage. I hope everyone will drop in and check it out
at:

Hope ya'll enjoy it ! Lotsa turkey and mashed taters to you and yers on
Thanksgiving!

Randy brought up some interesting questions regarding the Scout
uniforms. As you know, in a couple of episodes, the "State Police"
appeared in TAGS. The first episode they appeared in (The Manhunt) they
wore generic uniforms. In the later episodes, they changed the uniforms
to more correctly look like North Carolina State Troopers. I did some
research on this and came up with one obvious discrepancy in the uniform
of the TAGS troopers .vs a real NC trooper of that era. Does anyone else
know what it is?

Here's an extra thought to go along with the pitch for people to consider
subscribing to the TAGS Columbia Tape series. Once you subscribe, you can
always return a particular tape if you don't want it in your collection.
Perhaps the tape features a minor character that you don't particularly care
for, for instance. The tapes are costly, and I know that's what's keeping
many people from subscribing. But with your option to return tapes, you can
limit the size of your collection to your absolute favorites. If you don't
keep a tape, you simply call their customer service number and request a
prepaid postage label to return the tape. So it doesn't cost you anything
for tapes you don't care to keep. If people are reluctant to buy all 10
tapes, consider subscribing in order to keep four or five. They make
wonderful gifts for birthdays, Valentine's Day, Mother's/Father's Day,
Christmas, anniversaries, etc. My family's always asking me what I'd like
for these occasions. If I were still collecting the tapes, I'd suggest to
them that they "underwrite" one of the TAGS tapes.

Although Glen Campbell was never on "The Andy Griffith Show," he did appear
on "The New Andy Griffith Show," cut an album with the Dillards in 1963
titled "FOLKSWINGERS" and Doug Dillard was on the "Whichita Lineman" album.
The reason I bring this up is because I just returned from Mr. Campbell's
concert (which was great) and I was lucky enough to meet him afterwards. We
talked about Doug Dillard and he made the comment that Doug is one of the
greatest banjo players he ever met. Of course we already new that.

Hello Members,
I hope everyone got a chance to see the Mayberry Reunion last night.
Andy, Barney, Opie, Howard, Goober, and Gomer was on there. It was a an
hour long program. Andy talked about how the show started and he even
said that everyone thinks that the show was about his home town but it
was not, that it was just a rumor. All the actors looked in good
health. Opie has lost most of his hair on top though. I also learnd
that when Opie first started the show, he was 6 years old, that he
could not read or write so his parents came to the set and taught
him the lines. It was a great show.

Sincerely
Charles s.

(NOTE FROM ALLAN: In case some of you don't know, the show Charles is talking
about is a repeat of the show that was on CBS several years ago. It comes on
TLC or the Discovery Channel every now and then so you'll get another shot at
seeing it if you missed it.)

I agree totally! We recently e-mailed CH and told them that we would infact
purchase every episdoe if they put them out. They tapes are beau-TI-ful
quality. It would make a great set but only if we write, e-mail, and most of
all, *BUY* the tapes. Any true mayberry fan will not be dissappointed! If the
various Star Trek's can get every episode released then so can we!

Hello,
Watched a documentary on TLC. It had andy, opie, barney, golmer, gobber, and
howard. It had footage from the set of TAGS that was recorded by opie's
mother. Also I bought some videos at a gas station of TAGS. All of them
have the little part at the end that is not seen on TBS. I paid 9.00 a
piece for them but it was well worth it. Was at Wal-mart last night and say
that they are selling a collection that contains ten episodes. I was
watching Ron Howards Ed-tv the other night and found some links from TAGS.
It showed a video of The Ghost and Mr. Chicken. When they are taping Ed
people would advertise and at the bottom. The name fife came across the
screen and the tv producer called ed golmer. Opie takes TAGS everywhere he
goes. Thanks for listening
OPIE
Lots of luck to you and yours.

(NOTE FROM ALLAN: The Don Knotts videos and the 10 and 15 episode tapes can
be purchased from Weaver's Dept Store here online. Y'all drop by.

Just in case all you fellow TAGS fans didn't know about this, I just
found out about a web site that is collecting votes for the favorite TV
series of television history. Currently TAGS is ranked 10th in a long
list of shows, some that shouldn't even be on a "greatest" list. The
URL to visit and cast your vote for TAGS is
http://www.freevote.com/booth/tiko2favseries. Let's all hit this site
and pull TAGS up to the #1 place it deserves. We currently need 956
votes to top the #1 show so far.
