When's the TBS TAGS Marathon?

(ANSWER FROM ALLAN: The TBS Marathon begins on Friday Dec. 31st. The complete
schedule can be found on the TAGSRWC web site. http://mayberry.com/tagsrwc/ )

The "E Entertainment" network is suppose to do a show about the behind
the scenes antics of TAGS in the next week or so, but I have to warn you, I
have rarely seen anything produced on this show that was very
positive or uplifting. So I don't know if I can advise watching it or
not. Meanwhile, pity us poor people who pay out hard earned money each
month to a cable company that doesn't even supply "TV Land." So, 2000 is
already looking pretty bleak, but at least I have been hoarding my tapes and
will be prepared to defend them with my life!
Lydia and I will celebrate by watching the last of TAGS on TBS and drinking
Dr. Pepper, and just having a generally grand time talking about old times
(Lydia hates chit-chat. Now, she doesn't mind ordinary
conversations. But she hates to chit-chat.) And, after awhile we will
probably start to cry in our Dr. Peppers.
Well, at least I will. (Lydia hates to cry. She doesn't mind feeling
a little blue. But she hates to cry.) We will think about all our Mayberry
friends and wish we could visit with you all in person.
Wishing you all a wonderful new year with God's best blessings, and a gold
truck in my future sure wouldn't hurt, either, Laura Lee Hobbs.

Dear Mayberrians:
I have just found, and consequently joined, your wonderful list. I feel
right at home reading about TAGS. Everytime I see someone quote from an
episode like: "I don't want to make a moulage out of this" I just SMILE
AND SMILE. This list, and it's ardent followers and fans makes me
feel there is hope in this world! My favorite episodes are "Giraffes are
Selfish" and "But Aren't the Trees Nice and Full" but I have to give a nod
to the "Kerosene Pickles".
Thanks so much for being there, and always remember: With Barney, all
things are possible.

Yes, the CH videos are uncut and are *much* better quality than the
videos available in stores (even better than the DVD recently released).
You can call CH at 1-800-457-8066 or visit their website - Video Library

http://www.columbiahouse.com

Right now they only have 10 volumes (4 eps each) but if fans continue to buy
then CH will continue to produce them. Here is hoping that CH puts out each
and every episode. (Hey if Twilight Zone, Star Trek, and Star Trek: The Next
Generation can get every ep released so can TAGS).

In a way, she was on TAGS. In the pilot episode that also served as an
episode for The Danny Thomas Show, she played Danny's daughter.

Angela Cartwright was indeed a cast member of The Danny Thomas Show (a.k.a.
Make Room for Daddy), but if memory serves, she did not appear in the TAGS
pilot episode. She was listed in the opening credits, though.

For them that don't know, a few years later Miss Cartwright played one of
the Von Trapp kids in the movie version of "The Sound of Music."

I was in an antique store the other day and spotted an album made by Andy
Griffith with his comedy routines on it. I was going to go back and get it
yesterday, but I got sick and to go to the hospital for an emergency
angioplasty. When I'm better, I'll go back and see if they still have it.

Hi Mayberry family,
A few weeks ago I made an inquiry about a certain episode. I was
trying to find out the name and number of the episode with the preamble
in it. I found out that it was Episode 103 -- Opie's Ill-Gotten Gain.
The reason I was asking was our local Rotary club will be performing a
little spot (in very good taste--I've seen the script) on the Andy
Griffith Show. They plan to do a take off similar to how Barney did the
preamble.
Anyhow...believe it or not someone who is supposed to be in this
segment of their show has never seen an episode or hasn't paid close
attention when they did see one. (Now, don't that beat everything!) The
club has asked myself and another member of our chapter if we had that
episode on tape, so they could show this person what the episode was
like. Well...I don't have the episode on tape and the other person
doesn't either. So, I told them that I would put it on the bulletin
board and see if anyone would be willing to make a copy of the episode.
I will be paying for the tape, any fee to copy it, and shipping cost.
So, if anyone is out there that would like to help us out, please let us
hear from you soon. It would be great to have a copy in our hands by
the next week and a half.

                                                Have a Happy and
Peaceful New Year--God Bless Us All,,

                                                Tammy

Hello to everyone on the list, it's been a while since I posted.

Is there anyone else on the list ever wondered why Weaver's hasn't organized
an autograph signing for Andy and Don? They could charge a reasonable price
for the auto pictures, etc. I am sure this event would make a lot of money,
garner a huge audience and more than compensate both individuals. I have
never been able to attend Mayberry Days in hopes of getting autographs.
Something always seems to interfere. I have read several posts in the past
that read Andy doesn't attend Mayberry Days, is this still true? Weaver's
could take prepay orders by mail, and mail the purchases to list members if
wanted. ebay presently has a bid of $70.00+ for both autos on a photo, and
this is to rich for my blood.

As an added note has anyone checked the ebay web site recently and seen the
vast difference in some of the Don Knotts autographs? Everyone please be
careful in purchasing autographs on the web. I have always been a person
that said "if you didn't see them sign it, it may be a fake." I learned
this the hard way from my baseball autograph card collecting days. Weaver's
is of course excluded from the above statement.

Bo Didley is 71 years old today for all you old heads out there. Feel
better now?

Thanks, Jim

(ANSWER FROM ALLAN: Well first off...folks don't realize that Don and Andy
don't do stuff for free. I doubt if Andy would even consider doing the
autographs but Don might. Of course it cost $10,000 plus just to have Don at
an event (that's the number I've heard rumor of many times but I don't know
that for a 100% fact). Do you realize how many autographs it would take to
make back that much money just to break even? Well...it's a lot more than
most folks would be willing to sit and sign.

I wish I had better news but as you can see there's just no way
Weaver's/TAGSRWC could afford to do what you're talking about with just Don
being there and if you added Andy (if he would do it at all) the cost would
more than double.

You can buy autographed photos of Don Knotts from American Classics. They
have them for sell on their web site for a lot cheaper than $70 but it's just
Don's autograph...not Andy's... and you'll find them under the "Classic
Photos" link. http://www.usaclassics.com/ (Their site is down right now but
it should be back up and running later today.)

I can tell you for sure that their autographs are 100% real. I was there when
Don was signing them for 'em. They sponsored an event with Don there and
"Floyd" was the emcee because David Browning was already booked. Plus....the
owners of American Classics are members of WBMUTBB and general pretty good
folks.)
