Wasn't it grand? I felt the quality of the print was very good. I
noticed that they cut the part where Opie was saying his prayers but
they kept the epilouge where Dickie comes back to his cage. I haven't
seen that in years!

I have an idea for those of us who have webtv. We are able to open a tv
window on the screen as we surf the net. I propose that those of us who
are capable, to meet in a chat room and share our comments while we
watch the 10pm (eastern standard time) broadcast of TAGS on Monday
night. I have set up a chat room at TalkCity called WBMUTBB. To access
it, go to talkcity.com and go to where it says "enter a room whse name
you know" Type in WBMUTBB and you are in. I think it will be fun to talk
live to some of the folks I've come to know thru the digest. I do this
with some other shows I enjoy and it has been a good time. Hope to see
some of you at talkcity on Monday!~the groovy MissPoovey~

With webtv, when you ask for info on a tv show, it will tell you the
actual name of that episode and a brief synopsis of the episode. Well,
in setting up my recording schedule, I see that the 10pm show and the
1am show are different episodes. Later in the week, sometimes the 1am
episode is a repeat of the 7pm show or of a showing a few days before.
Just wanted to warn folks to keep an eye on the listings in case you're
one of us who are attemping to tape all the shows!

Also enjoyed the 1:30 showing of Gomer Pyle USMC! Thank you and God
Bless to the executives at TV Land!

Subject: tick a lock

I recently heard another use of the phrase on All In The Family. Archie twice
told Edith, or as he calls her, "Edit", "Tick your lock." Other than these
two shows, this is the only time I have heard this phrase used.
They say you will do the rest of th year what you do on the first day of the
new year.
No way! My wife and I are both trying to recover from the flu. I sure don't
want to do that the rest of the year!!
I was under the impression TV Land was going to show Andy all day New Year's
day just like TBS had shown it all day New Year's Eve. Not so. There was one
episode that day. Guess I misunderstood the schedule.

May each memeber of the WBMUTBB chapter have a glorious, happy, peacful,
healthy and prosperous New Year. Maybe this year I will remember to meet with
the chapter at Mayberry days on Friday!! I just forgot! Two things happen
when you start aging....the first is you start forgetting things. The second
thing that happens when you start aging is ..... you start forgetting things.
Happy New Year.

Did you notice that on all the episodes of the Andy Griffith show nobody ever
saw Gomers spare room in the back of Wallys. And when Gomer went into the
Marines and Goober took over, where did Goober live?

one of my dad's favorite movies is "it's a wonderful life"..i found
wrapping paper and even christmas cards from the movie...shoebox cards
(a tiny division of hallmark) used to have a card with barney (in his
deputy uniform),looking disgusted and in a balloon above him was saying
things like polish the patrol car..sweep out the cells...replace bullet
in pocket..there's more but i can't remember...on the bottom..it says
barney realizes job burnout then you open it up and the inside
says..."so how is your job going?" i haven't seen that card since..also
i don't know if they made any other "mayberry character" cards..this was
a couple of years ago...and i don't know if hallmark lost the license or
that line of cards wasn't well received (gasp!)...i keep meaning to
write to shoebox (hallmark) but always end up getting busy..while i'm
thinking of it...i might do that now..anyway..what i really wanted to
say is i would love to see TAGS wrapping paper...my dad just loved the
(IAWL) paper and the whole family commented on it..heck next year i'll
save on presents and just buy a roll of their favorite wrapping paper!
happy new year everyone...and happy motoring!

Congratulations to JQuillen for answering the trivia question correctly by
e-mail. I know there are others who know that date and since he didnt answer
via the digest others will have a shot!
The question again was . What was the month and day of Barneys fifth
anniversary as a deputy? If you can read the writing on the wall you know it!
On another note. I know that Mr. Schwump was in the episode " My Fair
Earnest T. Bass", but wasnt he in one or two more episodes also?

One more little item! Has anyone ever noticed that the dogs in the
episode"Dogs, dogs, dogs" seem to be the same dogs that were in the episode
"Bargain Day" where aunt Bea buys a side of beef? I thought I saw the big
airdale and the little trembly one too following that wagon full of beef
through town. LOL

For those who didn't catch episodes 1 and 2 last night on TV Land, I'd
like to comment on them. Episode 1 was a good print, although there
were between 100 to 200 nicks and blemishes in it. Opie's objections to
the marriage while Andy was talking was abbeviated, but it did include
the tag which was nice.

Episode #2 was a great print. Probably the best I've ever seen. It
excluded Barney stopping and checking out his mother and Mayor Pike on
the roadside, but again did include the tag.

And I respectfully disagree with the TBS closing marathon as a "tribute"
to TAGS. The fact is, over one third of the series was in color. If
TBS wanted to properly reflect the whole series as it was, they would
have shown a proportionate amount of color episodes through the years.
I can only hope as a lover of the full TAGS series, that TV Land will
not discredit the show in the same way.

I'm with D. Moore! I hadn't thought of wrapping paper, which I would
love. But working in check-processing, I would like to see checks with
a Mayberry theme. I've contacted the company named Checks in the Mail
twice. And I'm campaigning for a stamp in this year to commemorate TAGS'
40th anniversary, especially since this latest series of decade stamps
featured Lucy and All in the Family. I tried once but no got nowhere so
I'm determined to try again. Join me in these two endeavors if you have
the time. I'd like to see all sorts of Mayberry memorabilia, like
stickers, decals, iron-on patches and t-shirt designs (especially for us
larger folks to make our own). Happy New Year, Aunt Bee of Orlando

Subject: TAGS CALENDER

I just wanted to say how much I LOVE my Tags Calender!! I of course had
to give it to my daughter for Christmas. It is especially great that it
lists all of the episodes & that each month has a picture of an episode
& a little bit about it. Thanks so much Allan, for telling us about
it's being available at Weavers. I for one, appreciate your telling us
from time to time what Weavers has available. Some commercials, ya just
don't mind. I don't know if there are any more available, but if so,
y'all better hurry up & order one.
Aunt Bee 2

(NOTE FROM ALLAN: Just head over to Weaver's and get your 40th Anniversary
Mayberry Calendar ordered. You don't want to go through the year without
one. http://mayberry.com/tagsrwc/weavers/ )

Letting all you good people know that this week, the A&E network is
running bios of famous twosomes, and Andy and Barn are scheduled.
The program airs 8:00 p.m. Eastern/7:00 p.m. Central, and they usually
do a fine job with these shows.
"You know, Andy, our only crime is that we're attractive to women."
Barn, you said a mouthful there! From the other two "fun girls" who can't
resist you either, Laura Lee Hobbs and her side-kick, Lydia.

Happy New Year! In response to TAGS wrapping paper, make your own. You can
Xerox photos on to white paper and tape them together. Another option is to
write quotes and names on purchased wrapping paper, shelf liner or brown
shipping paper. I also made a gift bag taking photos and digital photos,
apply to heat & bond and then iron on a paper bag. If using regular photos,
be very careful of the heat. You could also use glue. Then, attach some
raffia for the bow, or use jute, ribbon, etc.

I was also lucky enough to be present when Andy was inducted that day at
MGM. Janine (Orlando's Aunt Bee) was VERY instrumental in getting the
whole Opie Chapter free admission into MGM and getting the governor to
declare that day in Florida to be Andy Griffith Day! I had just had
surgery and was not feeling well; Janine and her darlin' person made
sure I got there and nobody bumped me around too much! It was pouring
the rain and just like Gomer, I felt sick as a dog but having the time
of my life! We got to go back stage afterwards and say hey and shake
everyone's hand. And Andy does indeed have a beautiful head of hair!
Yup, all in all, it was a pretty exciting day!
