>As an added note has anyone checked the ebay web site recently and seen the
vast difference in some of the Don Knotts autographs? Everyone please be
careful in purchasing autographs on the web.
>

The different look to Don Knotts' signatures is partly due to the fact that
his eyesight is not as good as it used to be.

However, you are 100% right about buying autographs on eBay. LOTS of them
are fakes (there are ten times more Babe Ruth autographs extant now than
when he was alive!) Don't pay any attention to the so-called COA
(Certificate of Authenticity) either. They're meaningless, in my opinion.
If someone sells fake autographs, what makes you think the accompanying COA
is any more real?

If anyone tells you that they met Andy Griffith (or Ron Howard or Frances
Bavier) at a Mayberry cast reunion, they are lying, and I don't mean
spreading a little extra jam on the bread - I mean they're LYING. When I
see an Andy Griffith autograph for sale on eBay, I ask the seller to show me
a photograph of Andy Griffith signing the item. Of course, they can't do it
(at this point they invariably call ME a liar).

Andy Griffith has never, EVER appeared at any public fan gathering. His
former manager Richard O. Linke has also publicly stated that Andy never
signed through the mail either. When a fan sent a photo to Andy for a
signature, Mr. Linke would sign Andy's name to it and send it back. I've
been told that nowadays, Andy's wife signs photos in this manner.

I would have to guess that at least 95% of the Andy Griffith "signatures" on
the market were not really signed by Andy.

I live in Tennessee and have seen this plate on many a car! I never took a
close enough or long enough look to see the resemblence but Yes, I see the
resemblence!! The "Incredible Mr. Limpett" ala Don Knotts!

Maybe I ought to follow the Sunday rule and make it a rest day!

I noticed there is a new Andy DVD available called "Andy Griffith Show =
- - Classic Favorites," but I can't seem to find out what episodes are on =
this DVD. Anyone know?
They have a picture of the cover on netflix.com .There are 8 or 9 small =
pictures on the box, but no description.
Of course if they really wanted, they could put 7-8 hours of video on 1 =
DVD, but that wouldn't be very profitable.

I found out what episodes are on the new Andy DVD. =20
Some of the same ones you see on every other tape out there.
High Noon in Mayberry, The Big House, A Wife for Andy, Mountain Wedding, =
Opie and the Spoiled Kid & Rafe Hollister Sings.
Not bad though. Amazon has it for a little under $8.

Have you noticed that in Mr.McBeevee episode Barney was an expert at
horses, and in the episode where Charlene Darlin wanted a divorce from Dud,she
chose Andy and Andy(wanting to backout of the wedding)was looking at a book
about omens on how to get this marriage cursed,(it could only be cursed if a
dark rider on a white horse rode from east to west) put Barney on a white
horse and if you remember Barney was allergic to this horse...so why did he
(Barney)claim to be an expert on horses if he was so allergic to them.

A big thank you to Allan for maintaining this list and for the wonderful
people who subscribe to it and respond to questions and needs. Earlier
I had requested a copy of an episode and many responded. Thanks to all
who did. The Mayberry spirit and way of life is very much alive.

I'm really looking forward to TAGS on TV Land. This is gonna be great.
I started watching Andy on that great October evening in 1960 when it
first started. Since then, I've estimated that I've seen each episode a
minimum of 30 times each. But lately, I've gotten away from the show a
little for the first time. This is because my local station dumped the
twice daily showings about a year ago and I just didn't get into the
WGN/TBS time slots much. However, with TAGS back in prime time, I'mm
gonna be back on track again.
Now for the problem of those who won't have access to TV Land, let me
make a suggestion. If possible, consider getting a small dish satellite
system. The cost is very low and you will get TV Land and TAGS clearer
than you've ever seen it. I know everyone is not in a position to do
this, but whoever can should take a look at what satellite has to
offer. And no, I'm not connected in any way in the industry. I just
want as many people as possible to have access to our favorite show.

Oh yeah, and TV Land has added The Honeymooners to it's prime time
lineup. And away we go!

Finally, a very Happy New Year to all.

- -Bob

I wish all of you a Happy New Year and continued success in 2000. I =
will remember 1999 with many good TAGS and WBMUTBB memories:

- - Trips to Mt. Airy and meeting so many fine people who live and visit =
there.
- - Finally getting to see Don Knotts at Mayberry at Meadowview II.
- - Our Snappy Lunch pork chop sandwich picnic before the [EMAIL PROTECTED]
show.
- - A wonderful weekend at Mayberry Days, thanks to all the hard work by =
the Surry Arts Council.
- - Success with the first WBMUTBB Silent Auction at MD99.
- - Adding to my TAGS collection of books and t-shirts from Weaver's.
- - Getting to know a great group of friends in the "Some of us got it... =
Some of us ain't" TAGSRWC chapter.
- - Seeing the goodness in people coming together to help others in need =
with the Hurricane Floyd relief fund.
- - Learning more about the show and things behind the scenes from folks =
like Paul Mulik, Jim Clark, Allan Newsome, Harvey Bullock and many =
others who post to the digest.
- - Seeing the power of prayer and friendship as Harvey Bullock is feeling =
better.
- - And most of all, getting together with my TAGS friends in all sorts of =
places, from airport food courts to hotel lobbies to bus tours to chats =
online.

I still find it rather amazing that I have gained so many friends all =
over the country because of our love of a television show and the work =
Allan does at WBMUTBB. There are plenty of problems in the world, but =
it is nice to know there are people like yourself who take to heart the =
meaning and spirit of TAGS. All the best to you in 2000.
