Aren't we middle Georgians the luckiest people? We still get TAGS on
our CBS affiliate here, WMAZ, at 5:30 every weekday. So we can watch it
at supper and on TVLand at bedtime! Shazaam! Suzanne Burgess

Let me add my welcome to the new members. As the sign says when you
drive in to Mayberry, this is a Friendly Town. We even support
manicurists! I always enjoy reading over the new member bio's. This
time in was interesting that we picked up a Fife (maiden name)and a
Griffith. Seems like we picked up alot of folks around the Carolina's
and and "Y'all" seemed proud to be somewhat close to Mt Airy. (and ya
should be) but there's also fan's from all around the fruited plain
including California where the show was filmed. Welcome to the Midwest
fans also. Maybe see ya at the Mayberry Cafe here in Indiana.
(Allan do you know how many states are represented in addition to 3 or 4

countries??? If not it would be a good geography project for some
student)
In the last few days there have been questions about Barney's years of
service...with one show mentioning 5 years...others 10. As the experts
on here have pointed out a few times, there were many different writers
(30 or so) and they didn't worry too much about consistency. They had
no idea we'd be watchin' shows dozens of times, and taping them. (Can
you imagine if Mayberry had VCRs? Barney would be over at Thelma Lou's
every night for a little "quote TV" and Cashew Fudge..Aunt Bee would
watch tapes of that "Doctor Show", and Gomer would be at Andy's all the
time narrating that Dog show..Shep?) Anyway, we all have our favorite
inconsitencies...Gomer is is good mechanic/He only know gas and oil..
Barney Can't sing/He sings OK ...Andy talks Hillbilly/talks normal...
Goober Beasley/Pyle and, yes, a different Floyd in one episode. Veteran
TAGS watchers look for these things, but don't worry too much about
them. It's just the ways things were done in that era.

...Now I didn't have any TAGS wrapping paper for Christmas..but I liked
what was inside my paper...Barney's book from my wife and that "Boxed
Set" of Andy tapes that Charlie mentioned from my mom. Thanks Mom!
(she's a proud Digest member too, but I never bought her a spetic tank)
Every time someone gives me a calendar, I wonder if it comes with
Emmett's guarantee.."it's got all the days of the year on it"

I went to someone's house on New Year's Eve. I walked in and they had
on the TBS Marathon. "Did you know this was on?" they naively asked me.
I pulled the schedule out of my pocket that I printed out from our
Website, "Sure", I said. "and it'a almost time for Citizen's Arrest."
We watched a few episodes together. It was fun to see others enjoy.
Someone mentioned no color episodes were included...gave me an idea for
your next poll Allan. "Favorite Color Episode". If you went by the big
poll on the TAGSRC site, it would be "Dinner at Eight" but there are so
few votes in the color seasons it's hard to tell.

Sorry babbling so long here, I've been quiet for a couple weeks, so I
had alot to say. I got one more thing to say then I'll sit down.
No hunt beware open and closed no credit..and a happy new year Joe

The new TAGS trivia game on CD-Rom that several people have mentioned buying
or seeing in stores is available exclusively at Wal-Mart. The manufacturer
tells me that they don't expect that exclusive arrangement to end anytime
soon, so it's an item that, unfortunately, Weaver's and other retailers will
not be able to stock.

Daniel's question earlier about the two Floyds on TAGS makes me wonder if
some people are confused by the change in Howard McNear after his stroke.
Floyd is my favorite character, and sometimes when I look at Howard is the
earlier episodes (before his illness) it's hard for me to believe he's the
same man. I must confess that I enjoyed some of his final performances the
most. He is a riot.

I just got off the phone with Clint Howard (I still can't believe he called
me) and he's going to be at the Hollywood Collectors Show in Hollywood on
Jan. 22-23. He will be selling his autographed 8x10's of him as Leon from
The Andy Griffith Show. I will be going out for that show and if you can't
make it, I am offering to get then for anyone at $22 each postage paid. If
you want more than one, it would be an additional $17 each. Other Mayberry
cast members that will be there are Ruta Lee and Ken Berry. The same pricing
applies for these. If you are interested, contact me via e-mail ([EMAIL
PROTECTED]
ol.com). Thanks

Mike "I'm all keyed up" Creech

(NOTE FROM ALLAN: Now there's a great offer folks!! You'll know that the
autographs are the real thing and the price ain't bad either...thanks Mike!!!)

Re Mr. Mulik's postal comments: Yes, that's what they said the last time
I wrote to them; that's why I'm urging everyone to campaign for a TAGS
stamp, not an Andy stamp. We need one to commemorate the concept of the
Mayberry way of life. I'm hoping for a more favorable reception this time
but we may be too late already as you know how far ahead the government
does things! Aunt Bee of Orlando

Not to make a moulage or anything, but are all us internet members aware
of the many books available out there that can answer various questions?
Our founder's book (Jim Clark), as well as Steve Spignesi's book, is
excellent with trivia and character profiles. Steve's book is like an
encyclopedia and is a treasure trove of info. Plus if you subscribe to
the Bullet, you can get a mini-lesson 3 times a year that is fabulous,
along with trivia quizzes and news of the stars of the show. I was lucky
to begin subscribing just a few years after the start date and was able
to get all back issues - a collection I cherish. Keep a good thought,
Aunt Bee of Orlando

(NOTE FROM ALLAN: Also, don't forget that the TAGSRWC web site is LOADED with
information (not as much as in the books but a lot) and you folks ought to
drop by and walk around through our little corner of Mayberry on the web at
TAGSRWC. http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/ You can also get those great books
from Weaver's while you're browsing around town.)

Also don't forget that the Andy biography is on Wednesday night (1/5) at the
same time, and that the Ron Howard biography is being shown on January 25th.

One way to get complete or near complete episodes of TAGS is this:
Tape the show from your local station (assuming they're not using the
epilogue). Leave about two minutes blank at the end of each episode.
Then, when the same episode comes on TV Land, just tape the epilogue
over the two minutes you left open.

Paul asked:
<< Does anybody
know of a way to make Mayberry wallpaper border? >>
No. Does that answer your question? Actually, I've toyed with the same
idea and thought perhaps I could make a template for stenciling a border -
something that is obviously Mayberry like a silhouette of Goober with the
beanie or the badge star or the words "Mayberry" or "Andy Griffith Show" or
maybe a phrase or something. The problem with a wallpaper border is that you
have to get some chicken ala king to paste it up with ya know.

I saw an episode of Gomer Pyle this a.m. and the writer was our beloved
Mr. Bullock. A few months ago I saw 'Love American Style' and Harvey was,
I believe, the Executive Director. I never cease to be suprised and
amazed with this man's accomplishments. Thank you Mr. Bullock for the
many hours of enjoyment you have provided us all.

Hi.....

Tonight my daughter-in-law asked me if I have seen the commercial on TV for
the CD of Andy telling different stories and if I would like that CD for my
up-coming birthday later this month.

If we hadn't been in such a public place when she asked me I would have
thrust my arm high in the air and yelled.....YES. But I refrained and just
grinned ear to ear while telling her yes. LOL

I'm excited already.......can't wait to hear it.

We watched the biography tonight about Don Knotts on A&E. It sure was great.
Planning to watch the one about Andy tomorrow night.
