It was put out by a group called Marathon Music and Video. Does anyone know anything about these tapes--quality, content, etc.? I think it was around $32.00. Packaging was pretty nice. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that TAGS has been bumped from its rightful and deserving place as #1 in the favorite TV series poll being taken at http://www.freevote.com/booth/tiko2favseries. Can you believe that "I Dream of Jeanie" has passed TAGS up now to take the #1 spot with about 150 votes ahead? Come on, WBMUTBB, let's show our strength in numbers and vote for TAGS 5 times each and every day at http://www.freevote.com/booth/tiko2favseries! Also remember that Frances Bavier is #11 in the favorite TV actress poll at http://www.freevote.com/booth/tiko4favactress. Dennis "Mayberry" Chapter Knoxville, TN ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Jan 2000 09:31:38 EST From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: A get together? Hey fellow Boardsters, We are in the final planning stages for our "40th ANDYversary Bash" to be held at the MeadowView Convention Center, Kingsport, TN on June 24, 2000. The final star line up should be ready in a couple of weeks. Keep your eyes on the "Bulletin Board" 'cause our friends here will be the first to know. Last year at our show, we had several people get together the day of the show for a lunch. I was just wondering if anyone would like to attend a more structured banquet in one of our ballrooms on Friday night, June 23? The meal would be a buffet style consisting of hamburgers, hot dogs, ribs, potato salad, cole slaw, corn on the cob, baked beans, different desserts, etc. Kind of a "indoor picnic". We could set the big screen up and watch our favorite show while we "commune with one another". The cost would be around $20 each. If any one is interested please let me know. Don't bog down the digest with replies. You can email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Lots of luck to you and yours!! I noticed that there is a TAGS DVD for sale, and was wondering if anyone knew how good the quality of the picture was. I got a DVD player for Christmas and have been collecting them. When older movies have been remastered for the DVD format they look FANTASTIC, however some seem to be just transfers from an old print and don't look any better, in some cases even worse, then VHS tapes. If anyone has seen them, or know about TAGS on DVD, please let me know. Thanks alot. Kail "I love a good crab joke" Tescar PS- REALLY glad to hear Harvey Bullock is out of the hospital. Live long and prosper Harvey!! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Jan 2000 10:44:38 -0500 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Decorated rooms I'm just tickled to read of other avid Mayberry fans decorating tips, styles, etc. Is there any way they could get photos of these things to Allan and put them on this website? I, for one, would love to see these great tributes! Also, I'm gonna' try to forward that Atlanta station's manager's message to our local station who, last time I checked with them, had the rights to air TAGS but is currently not doing so. I'm practically computer-illiterate so will hafta' check with my brother as to this procedure, but I urge everyone to try this too. As I understand it, Viacom will not allow any other cable channel to air TAGS but local channels can. We need a major campaign to absolutely inundate the public with the goodness of Mayberry! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Jan 2000 11:02:29 EST From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Alumni sightings Saw the color episode with the know-everything teacher working with Helen who makes Andy jealous. He was the know-everything neighbor on Twilight Zone who came over when a little girl disappered into another dimension when a "hole" opened up under her bed. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Jan 2000 11:06:43 EST From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Question for Allen or Writers I was disappointed in Don's autobiography that he did not go into any detail at all about creating the character of Barney. Has there ever been any details on how he developed the mannerisms, the habits, the personality traits we have all come to recognize? Did Don create them on his own, or did the writers develop them and ask him to do what they created? ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Jan 2000 10:40:07 -0500 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Barney's departure from TAGS Don Knotts has been at MGM 3 times. Each time someone asked his why he left the show he answered that Andy had indicated to him that he was only going to do the show for 5 years. Being the responsible, plan-ahead kind of stable person he was, Don began to look around for work well before that time and had signed the movie contract in anticipation of the complete demise of TAGS. Even though he was no longer on every episode, we are most fortunate that he guest-starred those few memorable times. As I've said before (quoting Ernest T. in regard to another person), "He's a sweet, sweet man!" ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Jan 2000 13:14:00 EST From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: wbmutbb-digest V2 #8 WGPTroy and myself have a chat room on aol in the members section "Arts and Entertainment" the room is "AndyGriffithShowTriv" we open it about 7:00 pm to 8:00pm most everynight. I hope y'all enjoy this place as much as I have the last 3 years. You won't find a finer place on the net, OR a finer PRINCE than Allan Newsome. I got directions at the office and finally found the grave at the back of the lot. It was really very sad to think that someone who gave us so much pleasure is buried in a grave that makes no mention of the joy he brought to the lives of so many. The grave simply says "Frank Spencer Sutton" and has his birth year and his death year. This may mean very little to any of you but it troubled me and I knew that while no one else would understand how I feel my Mayberry friends would. It makes sense that the house would be on the studio lot, however I wonder if the house in question was used to model the home after. > Perhaps the house in question was used in Return to Mayberry (1986).
