i would like to reply about visiting frank sutton's grave. in 1996 i was
priveleged to help conduct the funeral of the great grand ole opry star
minnie pearl. a few weeks after the funeral her husband came in to the
funeral home to buy a headstone. like mr. sutton's, it just has her name and
dates of birth and death. her husband told us that sarah(her real name) was
dead, but that minnie would live forever. this is why there is no reference
to minnie pearl on the headstone. perhaps mr. sutton's family felt the same
way.....i just thought i would give a possible reason from personal
experience.

Perhaps the TV Guide is correct... I record TAGS every weekday morning at
5:00am
on WGN to watch before going to bed in the evening. WGN still shows TAGS, but
there is a catch, only locally (Chicago, which of course that means where I
live).

Does anyone have specific details on Don getting his star this month? I
heard it will be on the 19th but what time?

I'm new to the digest, so I appologize if this question has already been
asked. Has anyone noticed how much the TV Land re-runs have been edited.
Several parts have been cut out. Maybe this is to allow time to show the
post-scripts.

Yea, that sounds great to fans but remember it is the corporate suites that
make these decisions, and their decisions are based on money.
Sell 4 DVD's with 249 eps for $30 each or sell 62 DVD at $20 each.

I hate to sound like a downer, but it will never happen and if it did,
unfortunately it would not be from a big name company -- meaning like many of
the video tapes, the quality would be questionable to say the least...

None are known to exist, but that doesn't mean somebody might turn some up
someday. I wouldn't hold your breath, though (unless you're swimmin' under
the raft). Andy Griffith has always had a reputation of being a
perfectionist, and I would guess that he personally took steps to see that
all of the outtakes were destroyed.

Some performers are very sensitive about this sort of thing. Years ago,
Leonard Nimoy got very upset when Gene Roddenberry went public with a reel
of Star Trek bloopers. Mr. Nimoy was very proud of his skill as an actor,
and he felt that to have the public see his mistakes was demeaning to his
craft. Other actors, Tim Allen, for instance, seem to get a big kick out of
it.

There are LOTS of bloopers from Gomer Pyle - USMC. Jim Nabors shows several
minutes of them at all of his concerts. They're hilarious!

A good day to all you swave and beau-te-ful preserved people out there
in Mayberry land! A question for you. If Andy had not
married Helen, who would you have picked as his best choice?

Now, Lydia picks one of the "fun girls" but Lydia has always been something
of a renegade. However, my favorite is rich nurse Peggy. She's both fun
loving and pretty, and she doesn't boss Andy around like Helen does; shoot,
in the colored episodes Andy acts all mean and
ill to Opie and just about everyone, except Helen and he acts scared
silly of her. (Why else couldn't he just explain to her about the spaghetti?
And don't try telling me if he had the show would have been over too soon.
The boy was running scared, that's why.) Anyway, Peggy's my choice.
