It's like a new mini-episode, that for me I don't ever remember seeing. Mayberry on Record--Barney with the big cigar and the newspaper.. Alcohol and Old Lace--Barney with the Morrison Sisters' spiked marmalade are a few of the ones I've enjoyed recently having never seen before. ...Speaking of the Morrison sisters, I don't claim to be the originator of this thought...someelse here, or over at Miss Crump's Blackboard speculated it a while back. Don't the Morrison Sisters sound like the Mendlebright sisters (Maude and Cora) who talk on the phone all Sunday afternoon in "Man in a Hurry" about feet falling asleep?? Does anyone know if its the same actresses..or at least one of them is the same?? It sure sounds like it. How 'bout it Emmett, you're the sound expert? and...Thinking about similar characters...Miss Poovey I know you're out there. I can't find your website again (you should be linked on the Mayberry ring at the bottom of TAGS RWC) but I was admiring your pictures about a week ago. It appeared to me that you have Mr. Frisbe and the Butter & Egg man confused together. The picture was of Mr. Frisbe, and you named him, but the caption also said something about the Butter and Egg man who is a different actor and has a different name. (Mr Hendrix played by Woodrow Chamblis Ep 154 Aunt Bee's Invisible Beau) since I can't double check you site...I could be all wet and I don't want to cause a molouge! Police tape decorators--That sounds like a nice touch, but I don't think I ever saw the Mayberry Sheriff's office use that crime scene tape. The only way they ever marked up a scene was with an inadvertent dusting with fingerprint powder, an errant gunfire, an unlikely capture, a slap on of handcuffs... or hamburgers burning on the grill. (Don't blame Floyd) Happy National Potato Week, Otis (NOTE FROM ALLAN: Anytime you're looking for Mayberry Web sites....head to this URL: http://dmoz.org/Arts/Television/Programs/Comedy/Sitcoms/Andy_Griffith_Show,_Th e/ You can get there from the TAGSRWC web site. Go to the "TAGSRWC Chapter List" link found in the menu frame of the site and then choose the "TAGSWC Chapters Online" link. You can then see a listing of all the TAGSRWC chapters that I know of that have a web site and if you go to the top of that page there's a link for just plain ole Andy Griffith Show pages. I guess the music biz didn't work out for him and he turned to a life of crime. I have always wondered what his talent was anyway - he didn't play an instrument... - -Charlie ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Jan 2000 22:35:15 EST From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: The WBMUTBB Rules I feel like with the new year and the number of new members we've gotten lately that it's time to restate "The Rules" for everybody. You old-timers might want to read through this just to refresh your memories and I think it's good for all of us to try and remember these tried and true rules.---- Allan From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hey Everybody, Boy, things have really been growing here in out little corner of Mayberry!! Because of that I think it's time to remind everyone what WBMUTBB is all about: We all know what Mayberry is about but do we realize why it is that we all visit there everyday? I know that the characters are great but more than that, they're friends. We "know" these people and it's just a joy to visit them every chance we get to watch them as they work their way through getting locked in a cell because the door "clangs shut" or any of the other wonderful situations they face. Things always work out in a wonderful way leaving a smile on our faces. Mayberry is an escape from the day-to-day trials we all face. A short trip to a place where every body cares about one another and where we can forget, for a while, the fact that "real life" isn't as much like that as we'd like. I started WBMUTBB back in 1990, along with several other good folks, and since then I've tried to make it as much like a "corner of Mayberry" as possible. I wanted this place to be somewhere folks could go and forget about the outside world and relax by reading about Andy, Barney, Opie, Aunt Bee, and the rest of our Mayberry family. To try and make that happen I've required everyone who wanted to join to tell us a little about themselves so we could get to know them just a little bit. After all, in Mayberry everyone knew everybody else and how can we have a community without having at least some idea about our neighbors? I've also had a couple of rules here and I try to enforce them. Of course Rule #1 is...you guessed it...Obey all rules. Rule #2 is this: Talk about the things you like about Mayberry..not things you don't like. I know some folks forget this second rule sometimes and they don't really understand WHY I think Rule #2 is important so let me just give you an example. Let's say I were to say, "Boy, I really hate Barney. I mean, look how stupid he is and poor Andy has to put up with him." If I said that (and meant it) what are the first things that happen to you? First you'd feel like, "Man, that guys a jerk!" Then you'd get aggravated at this guy talking about your Favorite character (and friend), Barney Fife. Even if Barney's not your very favorite character, you'd likely be upset about this guy talking about your neighbor. I've never heard anyone say anything like that about Barn but I have about other characters and folks forget that just because they don't like a particular character doesn't mean that character isn't someone elses favorite. You see, if I talk about your favorite character saying negative things about 'em it takes your fun away. I think that's enough about Rule #2 and I hope you all understand the rule. It's not to take away from your fun but to encourage you all to tell us about what's fun to you and share your good feelings with others. We have something special here. It's something you don't find often on the internet. No "flames", no "fighting", no "foul language." We have a place that children and adults can come and enjoy themselves. Mayberry is a wonderful place and I'm just glad to be a part of this little corner of it. Your Friend and neighbor, Allan Newsome "Who's Been Messin' Up the Bulletin Board?" If Andy had not >married Helen, who would you have picked as his best choice? I would have to pick Ellie the lady druggist as my choice. In fact if Andy wasnt interested in her I woulda been glad to take advantage of his oversite. As far as I'm concerned she is one of the best looking women I ever rem seeing on television. I think it had almost as much to do with the personality she protrayed as well as her good looks. Its hard to believe the accounts she has said about how nervous and stuff she claimed to be while filming the episodes she was in. She sure didn't let any of it show that's for sure. just my 2 cents worth. I always liked how Andy got the best of Mayor Stoner especially since it was obvious the mayor was no big fan of the sheriff. Remember how the town band got approved to go on the trip to the state capital. And you beat everything Mayor if you would let me run my own office you wouldn't be up in that tree with your clothes all tore up and we wouldn't be down here with a bear in our back seat. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Jan 2000 00:46:01 -0600 (CST) From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Scott Knopfel) Subject: Re: wbmutbb-digest V2 #11/frank sutton's grave another reason a lot of stars don't have fancy headstones, or epitaphs describing their show biz careers is to discourage grave robbing and from some crazy fan stealing the headstone...(this has happened many times with celebrities)..that's why a lot of them out in hollywood are kept in a mausoleum or their own private crypt people are strange and will take anything that had to do with a particular celebrity..also the deceased's family doesn't want to draw too much attention...after all it's a cemetery not a hall of fame..it should be respectful for the privacy of the celebrity, as well as the other graves around them...after all if one of your relatives just happened to be buried right next to a celebrity..would you want people stepping all over them to get a picture of frank sutton's grave? just wanted to throw my two cents in on this...again cemeteries are for the remains of our loved ones and are for restful solitude..not to be made into a shrine or show place... peace to everyone....scott k. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Jan 2000 06:18:32 -0600 From: "James Seay" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: RE: wbmutbb-digest V2 #11 I would just like to take the opportunity to thank Allan, Paul all the other fellow Mayberry Fans of the wbmutbb for the joy and pleasure I receive each morning of having something so enlightening to look forward to reading each day before and sometimes after reading the news. Andy has always been my favorite TV show since I was just a kid. It seems I almost choose my friends by whether the fact of their love the Old Andy shows. In the later years I would generally get together with a couple of friends and watch and rewatch again and again. Most of my friends have passed away, and with each episode I am reminded of their particular favorite laughs and I keeps them fresh in my heart. I wish they could have lived long enough to enjoy the wbmutbb, they would love it too. Have a great day!
