I noticed that Monday the 17th, Ron Howard will appear on Headlines and
Legends with Matt Lauer on MSNBC at 9:00 pm central. I also purchased a
picture of Andy Griffith in a cowboy outfit at my local antique store. It
doesn't have his signature but it's still a nice find. As soon as I find
out how my scanner works, I'll send it on to everyone.

What a fix! For about 4 months at the end of 1999 I didn't get to see any
TAGS. Now it's on for 1 and a half hours in the evening in the Atlanta area.

Do you remember which one?
Pick me, pick me! It says "ENLARGMENTS." While we're on the subject, Mr.
Stout, it appears that you yourself have just missed one (but I don't count
off for spelling).

Would you believe 6 alumni on one show? Last night's Gomer on TVLand had
Ronnie Schell (the director in Aunt Bee's commercial), Larry Hovis (Gilly),
Jean (Hello Doll) Carson, Jackie Joseph (my sweet Romeena), Mrs. Lucens
(still didn't have any more bed jackets) and Asa (the bank guard except
this time he was in the library. Maybe he's got 2 jobs.)

Like Andy says, "Barney, not agin!" Here we go again with the best girl
for Andy. I thought I had settled that some time ago but maybe we have
some new members that haven't been through my Ernest T. Bass Education
Course yet. OK, pay attention, class. The cutest with the best taste in
pizza (Mozzarella, that's my favorite) was Mary Simpson as played by Sue
Ane Langdon. She still gets my blood to percolatin'.
"Do you mind if I kiss ya?" (No,Allan, not you, that's a line from the
episode.)

I couldn't agree more! (Land of Giants at #5??????) I teach a research
course in which I go to great lengths to make the point of how useless
these kinds of polls are where respondents self-select (TOTALLY!). Thanks
for helping us keeping things in perspective.
Oh, wasn't it great to see the scene where Opie was making his bed!?!? I'd
forgotten about it - hadn't seen it in years!
Well, I better go let them pigs back in.

Hey!
I know some seem upset about the "cutting" of TVLand episodes, but I saw a
part the other day that I don't believe I've ever seen before, and certainly
don't have on my old tape. It was the "Gentleman Dan" episode and it was
right before he and Barney begin to play cards. Gentleman Dan is stretched
out on his cot eating fruit and chocolates, obviously purchased by
star-struck Barney. I've never seen that part before. So they may be cutting
some things out, but not necessarily the same cuts made on TBS or WGN. It
makes watching all the more fun now because you've got to be a trained
noticer -- you might catch something new!

Hello to everyone in Mayberry. While watching "Andy and the Gentleman Crook"
on TV Land, I noticed one of the little quirks that continue to make TAGS
interesting and entertaining (Along with the great characters, scripts and
acting) As Gentleman Dan was conning Barney to come into the cell to play
cards, and then taking his gun, Barney did not have his badge on his shirt.
(Maybe it got in the way of getting his bullet?) The badge was still gone as
Dan warned Aunt Bee and Opie and left the cell. Then as Andy came in and was
confronted by Dan, Barney was without his badge while trying to warn Andy,
even as Dan attempted to fire an "empty" gun. Next, as Andy was showing Dan
how usless the gun was to him he shot the ceiling. Apparently that was all
it took for the badge to return because when we next see Barney, the badge is
there. Where had it been?
I also want to cast my vote for Miss Ellie as Andy's best "other" girlfriend.
She seemed to handle what ever came up, usually with a smile and boy could
she sing "Away In A Manger!"
Lastly, I think it is about time for me to once again than Allan for the
great job on WBMUTBB. I think Jimbo Seay conveyed the sentiments better than
I could. Hear Hear!

I don't remember seeing this posted before, but some time ago the Cincinnati
paper ran an article from the L.A. Times titled, "Bikers are, well, ol'
softies."
The article concerned a national survey of motorcycle riders and listed
various findings about male bikers. The article stated: "Motorcyclists are
four times as likely to have wept during an episode of Andy Griffith as their
non-motorcyclist counterparts."
No mention of sidecars though...

Actually it will probably be more of a biography about Ron Howard, as that's
what that show is. It's a well put together program.

I was just watching an early episode of the Waltons & lo & behold there
was Denver Pyle ( Brisco Darling) playing the Baldwin sisters no-account
cousin Homer Lee. who was stealing the recipe from those dear old
ladies. (Papa's recipe, don't you know) Moonshine to the uninformed.
It is neat to watch the older episodes when the children were all young
uns.

Hey From Memphis!!!!
As I was driving down Central Avenue in the Bluff City tonight, what
should cros my eye but a Honda. Normally I don't get excited when I see one
of those, but THIS Honda had a bumper sticker proudly stating " This Car
Protected By A FIFE ".along with a great photo of America's Greatest Deputy.I
don't know about ya'll, but I'd put a FIFE up against "the Club" anyday.
