Even on long car trips, back before the days of VCR's, we would listen to cassette tapes of the show that had been recorded with a microphone looped over the channel knob (which is also a thing of the past!). I can relate to the small town life of Mayberry, because I too come from a small town, so looking at life in Mayberry was like looking out my window. I guess that's partly why it's one of my favorites.
