Hey folks,

I just wanted to let you know that I've been making some changes to the way
the TAGSRWC web site looks. I've tried to make it more "clean" and faster
loading and I've also brought the content from what was "Mayberry
Interactive" in to the TAGSRWC site. Mayberry.com is now basically just the
home of the TAGSRWC online.

Y'all drop by and check it out. Don't worry when you see it....Uncle Ollie
hasn't got in the patrol car and drove off. All the same content is there but
it's moved around a little bit.

Enjoy.

>Paul, you must be working too hard. Of course they gave her a last name.

Crazy, I guess I just wasn't thinkin'. I mean to say they didn't give her a
FIRST name. She wasn't called Helen until six episodes later, in "A Wife
for Andy."

I did that just to show you what can happen. That'll be all, men.

>Second, Paul, who ever said "Crump" lacked class?

I was quoting Roger Bryant, the publisher who suggested that she should
change her name to Helene Alexian Dubois in the episode "Helen the
Authoress." It's a color episode, so some folks may not have seen it.

>Third, didn't Barney refer to his eyes as "these baby blues" once? And
aren't they really brown? And Paul I know you will know this answer.
>

In "Barney Gets His Man," Barney says to Andy, "It's a cinch [Eddie Brook's]
not hangin' around here, otherwise these ol' baby blues would've spotted
him." His eyes really are blue. They appear brown in the famous "bug-eyed"
photo of Barney, but that's because whoever colorized the old black and
white photo messed up on the eye color (they also made his hat brim and
necktie brown; they should be black).

Right. He was in a total of four episodes as follows:

Mr. Sims in "Barney Fife, Realtor"
Naylor in "Andy's Vacation"
Store clerk in "The Bed Jacket"
Councilman Dobbs in "Sheriff Barney"

He also appeared in an episode of Gomer Pyle - USMC. He drove Briscoe
Darling's old truck in that episode; at least he did until Gomer blew it up
with a Bazooka. He's best known for playing the preacher on Little House on
the Prairie.

Mr. Greer is from the small town of Anderson, MO, just a few miles south of
where I live (Joplin). I've never met him, but I've talked to several older
folks in Anderson who know him well. They tell me he used to come back and
visit often until his mother (who remained in Anderson) died. Another
little town near here, Fairview, also claims him as one of their own. I
guess he was born in one town and then later lived in the other.

other than Mayberry's own Glen Cripes!

That's Delos Jewkes. He also appeared in "The Music Man," along with Ronny
Howard and several other Mayberry cast members.

Welcome to all the new members!! I hope that you all have as much fun
being a citizen of Mayberry, as I have!! I think you'll soon feel right
at home.

If I might add a friendly reminder:
All caps are considered shouting and isn't proper "netiquette". Try to
remember to use small letters, unless you are stressing a point. Hope
that this is not breaking the rules and was taken in the spirit of which
it was given. :o)

What a great bunch of new members we just got. It's always fun to read the
bio's, and see if anyone has joined from MY area. Wouldn't you know it, this
time some one DID. Maryalice from Tampa joined, and Maryalice, I tried to
e-mail you to personally welcome a neighbor to WBMUTBB, but the mail came
back to me. The e-mail address on the bio list must be wrong, so please
e-mail me. I hope all the new members enjoy this little corner of Mayberry
as much as Martha and I have for the past 3 years. It truely is the BEST
place on the net, AND the friendliest. Welcome to Mayberry. Sit and talk
for a spell....maybe we'll go down to the drugstore for ice cream for later.

Has anyone figured out the order that TV Land is showing TAGS? I thought
they were going in the order originally shown, but after noticing "Barney's
Replacement" showing after "Andy and the Woman Speeder" I am totally
confused. I've checked their web site but they aren't posting which
episodes are airing anymore.

Hey and Welcome to all the new folks! Nice to have you join us in our little
corner of the Internet!

I noticed that we seem to have gotten several law enforcement types in this
new batch of folks ... think we're getting a little too rowdy here and need
some extra deputies to keep things under control??

Anyway, just wanted to make sure everyone feels welcomed ... we'll keep the
porch light on, so stop on by any time and set a spell ...

Howdy!
First let me welcome all the Buckeyes who have recently joined our little
corner of the web. I know Ohio has TAGS connections because Otis once told
Barney to head for Ohio in search of a still ("He's heading for Canada!")

Secondly, I am so enjoying TAGS on TV Land! It is great to see so many
epilogues. I was watching the episode last night where the cityboy deputy Bob
Rogers came to Mayberry and caused Barney to resign. A couple of things I
noticed that would not be tolerated in other episode were 1) Andy parking the
squad car in front of a fire plug and 2) Barney tearing up the ticket he
wrote Bob and dropping it on the ground -- littering! I love the little
inconsistencies in some episodes, because they make me feel better about all
the little inconsistencies in my own life as I get older!

Hey folks,

I just wanted to pass this along to you. WBMUTBB member Karen Meadows wrote
to TV Land saying:

"I'm sending this to request that The Andy Griffith Show be aired in its
entirety, un-edited. Come on. . .give us the extra couple of minutes,
please?"

TV Land wrote her back:

"Thanks for writing. We have actually been able to restore "lost scenes"
which have not been seen in decades due to the editing of other networks
before us. This includes epilogues as well as some other scenes here and
there. You are actually seeing 2-3 minutes more of the Andy Griffith
Show than has been seen in many, MANY years. This has provided quite a
challenge, because, as I am sure you know, show formats of today are
much shorter that the formats when The Andy Griffith Show originally
aired.

Only when absolutely necessary, we do our best to remove small pieces of
the show which will not affect the plotline(s) in any way. We think the
trade off is worth it because NO network has aired The Andy Griffith
Show UN-edited since it's original air time on CBS and we are bringing
you more of it than anyone ever has.

I have noted your comments for our programming department. "

Folks....lets be supportive of TV Land and their airing of TAGS. I know we'd
all like to see the entire episode and I think asking them about showing the
full episodes is a good thing, like Karen did. But lets be sure we keep our
comments positive about how great the episodes look and thank them for
showing the parts we've been missing all these years.

Thanks, Karen, for sending that note along to us all.

Allan
