Howdy!
Being a fan of TAGS for many years, I have slowly gathered most of the
episodes on tape. However, I am also a fan of the TV show Hawaii Five-0
(have been ever since I lived on the Islands for a while several years
back). For quite some time now, I have been looking for a copy of (Hawaii
5-0) episode # 109, entitled "I'm a family crook--don't shoot!" which
features as a special guest, none other than our own Andy Griffith. Does
anyone in our wonderful group have a copy of that on tape by chance? I
would love to get a copy!
Thanks!

Had a lot of reading to do. Glad to see Harvey Blullock back. I had
wondered about him. Saw Everett Greenbaum on a repeat of 3rd Rock from the
Sun. Concerning Peggy as a good girl for Andy.... Everett Greenbaum in
Mayberry 101 by Neal Brower says, "it was likely my least favorite of the
twenty-nine TAGS scripts we wrote. Joanna Moore didn't seem to me to belong
in a small town and didn't bring with her an inborn sense of comedy like so
many of our cast.......The relationship between Andy and Peggy, however,
didn't seem to gel." Pg. 45-46 I agree with Everett. My choice for Andy?

Just want to say "hey" to all the new folks in town. This corner of Mayberry
is a very friendly place.
Second thing, can anyone give me a ballpark idea of a 'fair' price for one of
the Johnny LIghtning squad car toys? I am a business manager for a physician
and we are planning to make one of our new exam rooms an 'Andy' theme room
and would like to put one of those toys in a lucite display case on the wall.
We already have a number of other items (being located in Durham, NC it is
fairly easy to get TAGS items around here). Any guidance would be REALLY
appreciated.
Best to you and yours,
Catherine Stuart

Hi - Michael Burch here ... founder of the "which Andy Taylor are you
Chapter" in
Carrboro, NC ... what a great bunch of folks we have on this newsgroup ... I
can
so appreciate the wholesomeness and warmth of everyone involved ... I took a
break today from business online (my chosen profession) and watched several
old episodes of black & whites today, one of my favorites is when Barney
tickets the Gov's car... Andy must have had an awfully hard time to keep from
laughing throughout Barney's hilarious performance (don't they ever clean
this crock?) .. anyway, I just wanted to invite any nearby North Carolina
fans and members to give us a yell sometimes.. we'd like to meet you, and
share the one thing that is dear to our hearts in this often too complicated
world, the magic of Mayberry!! Cheers!! Michael & Earleen Burch (I said I'll
be there,
and I'll be there).

Just a couple of notes from the 1/18 news. Look for
Jack Gilford on an episode of Taxi. He played Alex's
philandering father. When asked by Alex how he picked
up women, Gilford said he did "pea soup". He said
something like "imagine pea soup coming to a boil"
then set out to mimic pea soup boiling with his face.
Guess you had to be there.

Subject: Unedited Episodes
Re: TVLand's statement that no network has aired completely unedited
episodes since the original show back on CBS.
Not true. Back at home in Mize, MS. the Jackson or Hattiesburg station (I
can't remember which, they are both NBC) has been airing unedited shows for
years. This past Christmas, I saw "Man in a Hurry" and got to hear the part
about Barney falling asleep in church because Andy kept him on patrol all
night, and the Preacher having dinner at the chicken thief's house,
the epilogue was included, and no other scene or even a bit of dialogue was
cut--and this is one episode I know by heart! And during
the summer, my all time favorite, "Convicts at Large" was shown, and
believe me--the part that is usually cut, Naomi hitting Floyd on the
head with a vase--was there as well as everything else! It was priceless!
Plus, TBS has aired uncut episodes at times. Now, Nick at Night will
sometimes try to tell viewers that its "Lucys" are uncut. But that is not
always true. Little bits will be cut out (I know. TAGS is my favorite, but
thanks to my daughter, I'm the "Paul" of Lucy trivia.) And I have bought
tapes of
TAGS that were LABELLED UNCUT and ORIGINAL only to find that to be false.
And don't you just HATE it when that happens? Just as if they think we
wouldn't know the difference.
But, if TVLand wanted to, they could give us the real thing. I just wish my
cable company would give me TVLand! I'm still bitter about that.
Right now it's just me, and Lydia, and Dr. Pepper, and Country Songs
to help us through these lonely nights.

Don Knotts Gets Hollywood Star
.c The Associated Press
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Don Knotts' newest star didn't come from the Mayberry
sheriff's department.
Knotts, a five-time Emmy winner for his portrayal of bumbling Deputy Barney
Fife on ``The Andy Griffith Show,'' was honored Wednesday with a star on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Knotts, 75, also appeared in 19 movies including ``The Incredible Mr.
Limpet'' and ``The Reluctant Astronaut'' and was the host of his own
television variety series.
``I can't believe I have my own star. I'm gonna come down here every morning
and shine that sucker up,'' Knotts said at a ceremony attended by Griffith,
Louis Nye, Gary Owens and John Ritter, a co-star in the ``Three's Company''
TV series.
Knotts, a native of Morgantown, W.Va., has star No. 2,152 on the Walk of Fame.

With TVland leaving in some of the usually cut scenes, I got to add a new
sighting to my Johnny Coons life list last night. In the first scene,
before Melissa arrives and Barney escorts her to the post office, Barney
drops Thelma Lou off and she gives him a "little kissie on the jaw".
Barney gets all embarrased because who should walk right by the look right
at them during the kiss? Yep, good ol' Johnny. Carrying a fishing rod and
tackle box. He must have retired from that bulldozer job after Aunt Bee
gave up the protest and let them knock down the moonshiner's house for that
new county road.

I'm certainly very happy that Don Knotts finally got his star - and I don't
want to sound overly mercenary - but I've gotta question. A while back we
were asked to contribute to the effort and I, among others, gladly did so.
If I recall correctly (which is a big part of my "if'in"), I believe that
those of who donated were promised a picture of some sort in return.
Anyone recall specifically?????????

Did anyone see the bio on Don Knotts last week? I thoroughly enjoyed that.
I had never heard about of any Don's personal life; not knowing he was ever
married and had children. I was born and raised in West Virginia (now
residing in Charlotte, NC), and I had always heard he was from Huntington,
WV, only to find out from the bio that he actually is from Morgantown, WV.
They interviewed his son and daughter and ex-wife and they all had wonderful
things to say about him. He really is a great guy in real life and he and
Andy are still great friends.
