Here's a message from Hollywood. We (Bart Boatwright, Ken Junkin, Kevin
Snead, Joel Rasmussen, Jim Clark and myself) attended the Star presentation
for Don on Wednesday and it was great! Andy Griffith, John Ritter, Louis
Nye, Betty Lynn, Howard Morris, Al Checco, Aaron Ruben and many others were
in attendance. Afterwards we were invited to the TV Land party for Don and I
am now the man who met (and had my picture taken with) ANDY GRIFFITH! Andy
and Don got on stage and did a few comedy routines that they would do between
filming scenes on TAGS. Later that evening we met Clint Howard and went to a
coffee shop and talked for about 2 1/2 hours. This all happened on our first
full day here. We are still having a meeting with Sue Ane Langdon and Ken
Berry this week. We're also going to Myers Lake (Franklin Canyon Reservoir).
It's been BIG!

Hey David-
Here's a clip from the Norman newspaper about your banquet appearance:
"Bristol, Va., actor David Browning set the theme for the evening with
an impersonation of the inept but good-hearted Deputy Barney Fife from
the 'Andy Griffith Show'. For one evening, at least, Norman, Oklahoma
became Mayberry, USA".
Too cool

After Andy catches the fake photog in the bank vault and Barney has them
all secure in their separate cells, who should come through the door at the
back of the 2nd tour? None other than our beloved Johnny.

He does speak, briefly, in "Goober Takes a Car Apart." It's the scene where
Andy gets back to town and approaches the large crowd peeking inside the
courthouse doors.

Howdy y'all in Mayberry. Recently, I learned a quick and easy way to make
any image on the Internet convert to your desktop wallpaper. Now, many of
you may be WAY ahead of me on this, but if not, here's what you do:
Go to any site (that contains images of TAGS of course)
Find a picture/photo you like, and RIGHT click on it
You'll get a drop-down menu, and from here choose: "Use as wallpaper"
That's it! You may see the results as soon as you go back to your
desktop, or you may have to log out first.
You can change the image as frequently as your underwear if you'd like.
I've got a blow-up of Barney talking on the phone. Probably to Juanita!
It makes me smile everytime I log on. And smilin's a good thang.

Hey to Aunt Bee! We DO get to hear Johnny's voice, in a couple of episodes.
The
one episode where he gets screen credit (his name appears at the end of the
show) is "Goober Takes a Car Apart". He's "Man #2", and his line was, "How did
they do it, Sheriff?", said to Andy when everyone was crowded around the
courthouse door, looking at the car (and Goober and Floyd) inside.
His voice is also heard in a second episode, but he's not given screen credit.
In "Cousin Virgil", he is seeing his wife off on the bus, and he tells her to
have a good trip, among other niceties. The lines may have been ad-lib (he was
told to just say good-bye or something you'd say to somebody who was going
away
for awhile), which is why he didn't get credit.

I have been able to find them at Target and Toys R Us. You'll have to
really go through the stacks of cars on display to find them. Go luck

Jeannie is now TWO THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED SEVENTY EIGHT votsa ahead. The gap
is widening and will continue to widen unless ALL the WBMUTBB members will go
vote EVERY DAY and vote 5 times each day. You can vote 5 times without
leaving the site so come on folks. Let's put TAGS back on top again. Don't

about that tomato...errr voting...ha ha... Really, folks. This poll means
nothing. While it would be great to see TAGS win the poll, it's really
meaningless because of the way you can vote. 5 votes a day? All this poll
shows is who can get folks to go and vote the most...not the most popular.
Just my thoughts.-- Allan)

I promise this will be the last communication I will make about these cars.
Go to the www.amazon.com site, click on toys and games, put Johnny Lightning
in the search box and click away. They have a set of 8 Hollywood on Wheels
cars for $29.99. This will be a lot easier than going through Playing
Mantis, if all you want is the Mayberry Sheriff's car. So now I will hush
up about these cars. Bye, Gloria.

You can reach the manufacturer of the cars at http://www.playingmantis.com
Not only do they carry the Mayberry Sheriff's car but they carry other die
cast cars also. That's where I obtained my car. While I was there, I also
obtained other die casts. One thing though, when you order the car, you'll
probably have to order the other cars in the collection enitled Hollywood on
Wheels. They are from tv shows like Partridge Family bus, Dragnet squad car
and others. They are a total of 5, maybe 6 cars in the collection. So when
you reach the site, click on products, then scroll down to Hollywood on
Wheels I.

With all due respect to those of you who are lobbying for us to vote for
TAGS in the favorite TV show Internet poll, I've declined and will continue
to do so, since that poll allows you to place 5 votes at a time. This
ballot stuffing doesn't reflect an honest contest; it's more a voting frenzy
with grossly distorted results.
But if anyone learns of another site hosting a poll where votes get only one
vote, then let me know, and I'll place my vote for "The Andy Griffith Show."
After all, it IS the best TV show of all time.

Subject: Jack Gilford
Dear Friends, I have enjoyed reading the wbmutbb-digest but this is the
first time I am writing, guess I never had anything to say before.
When I kept seeing my buddy Jack Gilford's name mentioned I felt I
might have something to add. I met Jack Gilford at his home when I did
some work for him. Jack was the greatest and his wife Madeline is such
a lovely person, they treated me as family. I loved listening to the
stories of the old days when they and the Griffith's were part of the
same crowd, as a huge Andy Griffith fan I was very impressed. I
attended a party at his house, after most people had left 3 of us
remained talking with Jack on the back deck. Out of no where Jack went
into his comedy routine. What a top notch professional he was, he went
on for a good half hour, all great stuff. We laughed so hard it hurt.
I still occasionally work for Madeline, and last year while working, the
phone rang, she said to the caller " I'll have to call you back I'm
waiting for a call from Ron Howard" THUD my jaw fell to the ground,
that is not something you hear everyday. He called her a minute later
and all the time they talked I kept saying to my self "She's talking to
Opie." That's as close to Ron Howard as I will probably ever get but
after hearing all the good things she had to say about him it sure would
be nice to meet him someday.
Thanks
Gary " I'm not inept. I'm ept." Freimuth
I sent a check out for Don Knott's star when we were asked to donate but
the check was never cashed and still hasn't came back. Has anyone
else had this happen to them?

Re: Johnny Lightening Mayberry car prices. Just befor Christmas I got four
for four dollars a piece, plus shipping.
On a side note I was hospitalized over night last week. But don't feel sorry
for me. I hated to get out, the city the hospital was in gets TV Land, the
town I live in doesn't get it. What a bummer. Well, it's a cold snowy night,
think I'll pop an Andy tape in the VCR and snuggle up. Cathy a.k.a. one of
Mayberry's fun girls.
P.S. Welcome to all the new members.I usually pick out a half or dozen or so
to write too and didn't get a chance to this time. Anyone who wants to email
me privately to discuss the show is more than welcome. [EMAIL PROTECTED]
