Have y'all seen this site. It has the best Don Knotts pictures on the
web. Some of the pictures take a little time to download, but it is well
worth the wait. http://fife.tvheaven.com

This is my initial message to the digest though I have been reading for some
months now. There's been no finer TV fare than TAGS since..... Howdy Doody ?
Who was the actor that portrayed Emmet the fixit man?
    Thanks........... Vaclav the retired colonel

Hey Folks, forgive me if this has been mentioned, but tonight on Fox I saw a
commercial for Target featuring Don Knotts. He is dressed as a security
officer and the ad is for music. He flashes that loveable "Fife" grin, he's
still got it.

>>>...It was a fix it shop on the other side of the barbershop, it was a
fix-it-shop and funeral parlor, I've never seen this man except in this one
episode. Who is he, I didn't hear who he was but the episode was when the
Hollywood guys going to shoot some kind of movie of something there.

You're thinking of Orville Monroe, Mayberry's Funeral Director and TV
Repairman (folks claim he charges less to bury you than to fix your set).

He was played by Jonathan Hole, and he appeared in only three episodes, all
during the first season.

In "The Guitar Player" he complained about Jim Lindsey's disturbing the
peace in front of his place of business; in "Mayberry Goes Hollywood," as
you mentioned above; and in "Those Gossipin' Men" as one of those gossipin'
men.

I don't hardly ever write in to the Digest, but I have to say that I agree
with April about Matlock. I enjoyed watching some of the 24 hours of
Matlock. (I didn't get to see all 24 hours but I enjoyed every minute of what
I did see:-) I plan on writing TBS and THANKING them for airing the show. I
too thought it was great that they selected TAGS related episodes.
Also just to let you all know Weaver's has the TAGS trivia game for $29.00.

I have to agree with April on the Matlock issue. I
have been a Matlock fan from day one, and even though
TBS can't show TAGS on Super Bowl sunday, its nice to
see that they still care about their ANDY fans! This
is probably going to be old news to most of you, but
tv land is going to be having 48 hour marathons on All
the good shows beginning in February. Looking forward
to it!!

<< I haven't been keeping up with the digest as I should, so you guys have
probably already discussed this, but why isn't TBS showing Andy all day on
Sunday? Well, they are, but it's MATLOCK! Who wants to watch a whole day
of
Matlock??! Is it because TVLand has Andy now? My local stations still show
 TAGS. What gives here?

Smokey,
You're right, this has been discussed before, but TV Land has exclusive cable
rights to TAGS, but local stations can still air the show, therefore TBS
couldn't air "24 hours of Andy," so they did the best they could and show
Andy in his second most memorable role, Ben Matlock.

Monday night's episode on TV Land (Cousin Virgil) contained
a rare treat...Johnny Coons, the unknown extra, speaking!! He
said "Take care of yourself" while helping someone on the bus

Hey everyone,
If you get a notion to go to Knoxville and get The Andy Griffith Show
Trivia Game, make sure to keep your eyes out for a billboard on I-40 that has
Floyd with comb and scissors snipping off part of TN. Its an advertisement
for a radio station and simply says Pink Floyd, which alludes to the band of
the same name, but there's Floyd up there looking awfully pink. I guess he
finally got some recognition for his trombone playing. It makes me smile
everytime I drive by it.

Boy are we fortunate in Tidewater, VA.!!!! Our local
station #43 shows TWO Andy's each day from 5:00-6:00
PM, M-F. Although the epilogues aren't shown, these
get us in shape for the TV Land broadcasts later.

Anyone in the Tidewater, VA. area who can receive Fox
43 over the air, check them out. Saw two good ones
today, one where Otis rescues Andy, and the Baseball
Game when Andy was the umpire.

Subject: Andy meets Matlock

In Digest #33, April ponders what it'd be like if Andy Taylor would meet or
had met Ben Matlock, and asks for our thoughts.

At the risk of sounding totally self-serving, I'd like to direct April and
others to a comic-book story I wrote awhile back, published in DC Comics'
PINKY AND THE BRAIN #20.

There, Brain's latest brainstorm to take over the world was to become the
sheriff of a small Southern town, with Pinky as his dimwitted deputy, and
then climb the political ladder. Pinky and the Brain had to compete in a
good ol' boy Olympics against a sheriff/deputy team who seemed VERY
familiar... and "Ben Batlock" made a cameo at story's end. If you're
interested in reading this, you may be able to find a copy in your local
comic shop's back-issue bins.

Subject: $4.00 fine,,Me and other Plummers

Remember when Barney wrote Fred Plummer that ticket for littering...
because he swept that dirt/trash right in the street? Well some of us
are no better that ol' Fred Plummer, cause were litering the Digest
mailbox with Stuff that Allan has to clean up.

You all saw me do last weekend, I sent one incomplete message
accidently, and then another to try to stop it. So, when I got the
right one sent, Allan had to edit it to take out what was already
published. The guy does all this for us, and I just gave him more to
do. I'll pay the $4.00 cause I can't afford the day in jail.

But now, for the Rest of you....DO NOT, I REPEAT IN MY HIGHEST BARNEY
VOICE, DO NOT "REPLY TO" THE DiGEST from your Email. Sure it's easy
just to hit that little reply to button and fire off a message, but
DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT SENDS?? Your message and a whole copy of that's
days Digest that Allan has to cut and paste out. You're just litterin'
like Fred Plummer. And we know who ya are because it says right there
by your name 're: WBMUTBB_DIGEST V2 #xx"
We're gonna start sending the Mayberry Deputy our to collect your
$4.00 fine.

All you have to do is:
   Start a new message, *************************
In the "To" field type; [EMAIL PROTECTED] (write that down)
                           *************************
Now is that so hard? IF so, build a nickname or mailing list for it.

ALSO: DO not send a message in HTML, send regular Email text.
He has to do something to that also I think.

Allan don't like to complain much. I just found this out by asking him
some questions. Seriously, please join me in making things easier for
him, ok..... NO Replies to Digest.

Thanks Allan for all you do!
thump thump...I'm down off my soap box now.
