There's been a lot of advance comments about E!'s TAGS show, on this site and
Miss Crump's Bulletin Board. Many fans expected a tabloid; many others
expected a tribute. I was pleased to see what I expected: an objective
news-style approach that presented information about a TV Show!

One crticism: only 1 hour!?

A big WOW and was is it neat. Mayberry on "E." I figured they would be
coming up with something dark out of ah old dusty closet somewhere but they
didn't. It was the Andy, Barn and the whole gang as we have come to know and
love over the years. Plus seeing some of our local digest heroes was pretty
great too. E will be repeating the show off and on today (Monday) for those
that missed it. Just check your t.v. guide. Mike

I'm back.
Well, first of all, we Hobbs dressed to the nines. George had hot knees, but
we went all out. He wore his prettiest lime green leisure
suit with his "Ernest T. Rules" t-shirt, and I was swathed in a baby blue,
striped polyester pantsuit that did wonders for my figure. And after
make-up, you could hardly see where the wax had burned my chin. (You guys
may not understand that, but I promise that all the gals of a "certain age"
will, bless our hearts.) George wanted to wear a hat to cover his baldness
and he asked if maybe the baby should wear a back brace to minimize
her--well, to
minimize her condition. But I felt we should go forth just as we are
and let Terri's family see exactly just what sort of gene pool they were
allowing their girl to marry into. So, we all just marched into
that house, rized our arms up and said as "back Bay Boston" as you
please, "How do you do, Mrs. Wiley." I mean, now, how could they have
helped but be impressed? When we want to, we Hobbs can put on a show.
We took all your suggestions on good table manners and they worked out
fine. You people are a real blessing!
Actually, they live in a beautiful ante-bellum home with paintings, any
one of which would be worth more money than I will see in a lifetime,
but they could not have been more gracious, and they seemed to really
like our son and that is what matters most. They are good people and
we are proud to have our son be a part of their lives; and that long
handled fork was nowhere to be seen (at least not yesterday). But IF Martha
Stweart does bring it out in the future, I'll let you know.
Sitting out somewhere along highway 123 S Ozark, waiting on her gold
truck to come in, Laura Lee Hobbs.

Saw the E! special last night (Sunday) on "Andy of Mayberry." They showed
some revealing interviews about the show, especially the behind-the-scenes
action. Good to see our friend Jim Clark, representing TAGS fans
everywhere.
One question popped into my mind -- why didn't they use actual clips from
the show? Still photos were used, and I thought the E! show could have been
greatly enhanced by actual video clips from TAGS and Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.
Was there a restriction, or is it just E!'s style to use stills rather than
video?

No, no, no... That's NOT what I meant. The other episode in which Norman
Leavitt played Wally was "Lawman Barney". Sorry for corn-fusin' the situation.

Howdy, friends.
I just got some news from Miss BirdieBlush, who is a wealth of
information, almost as much as our own Paul, and she did some research. And
what she researched was this, Mr. Schwump was most likely played by Anthony
Millhouse Taylor, and the only other notable
acting job he had was as an extra in "Stalag 17."
Miss Birdie says "Thank you."

Mayberry fans are the greatest!!

Several of you have expressed an interest in donating to help Larry McPeak
with his liver transplant.

Tim White of the VW Boys tells me a separate bank account has to be set up
for this cause. They are in the process of doing that now.

Please don't send money to Larry's address. That may confuse matters in the
long run. However I know cards would be greatly appreciated.

thanks for caring,

Gary

Hey Folks,

I've had a LARGE number of folks email direclty and all but just about 3 have
said they like getting the Digest just the size it is. Those few said
they're rather get on bigger Digest but that they just liked getting ANY
Digest so, for now, we'll keep 'em just like they are.

We may take another look at this later if we continue to grow but for now
we'll keep things just like they are.

Thank you to everyone that wrote to me with their opinion on this!!

Also, just so you'll all know...the Digest is running on (pretty much)
automatic now so y'all be sure to obey all rules. Mainly, just remember to
tell folks about what you like and not about what you don't. That's Rule #2
here at the WBMUTBB Digest and you are ALL doing a very good job of "obeying
all rules." Thank you!

Hey while we're talking about crimes in Mayberry, you have to add the
attempted bank robbery in the episode where Barney dressed up as a
cleaning lady. I suppose you could have also charged Barney with
breaking and entering when he busted out of the bank vault into the
beauty shop!

By the way, who was the guy that Barney said "Whatsamatter? Haven't you
ever seen a man take off a dress before?" to? Was this the infamous
Johnny Coons?

And, (this is the last thing, I promise) what happened at Laura Lee's
big dinner party?? Gooooooooooollllleeeee! Don't keep us in suspenders!
