If this info has already been posted by another, please forgive me, I don't
always get to read the Digests on the day they're posted (and wouldn't want
to chew my cabbage twice!)

Some folks have inquired in the past about obtaining Blue Willow dishes
like Aunt Bee had. Well, Ingles Supermarkets are carrying them right now
for a limited time. I bought a big plate, cup and saucer, for only $2.99
yesterday. It's limit one set per visit at that price, with additional
purchase, but I visit and purchase a lot there! They'll have other pieces
on sale each week, too. I don't have room for a lot of extra items, but
that tea pot sure caught my eye! Don't know what all states Ingles are in,
but I know for sure they're in Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia (it's
a Southern thing, I guess!) I also have an address where you can order the
Blue Willow dishes (at a much higher price), so if anyone can't get to
Ingles, I'll be happy to pass that information along to you.

Also, a couple of weeks ago I was "goin' to Nashville!" with the youth
group, and spotted our own Pink Floyd on a huge billboard in Knoxville.
Took his picture on the return trip. What a tha-rill!

Speaking of Nashville, I was delighted to see that my friend Lee Shoaf of
Nashville has joined the list! I may be the person who got Lee addicted to
Andy, since when he lived here, he spent lots of time at our house, and of
course, every time TAGS was on, we watched it!

Goobalong, you're soooo right, that Hazel is one wonderful character. I
also get tickled at that "oh, no!" look she gets when Barney rings the
doorbell. She is so cute, and talented, too (it appears that she was
really playing the piano).

Love,

Momma

Re: following Mr. Darling over the Jefferson Davis Natural Bridge, I'm
pretty sure that should have been the Robert E. Lee Natural Bridge. So, I'm
no expert on bridges. But if it's courteous service at the dime store you're
looking for, or an expert on gold trucks, then I'm
your girl. Laura Lee Hobbs, dime store clerk & gold truck watcher

Now, I love Briscoe Darling. Clean him up a little, and that man was a
handsome thing! Maybe Aunt Bee should not have been so picky. And if he
had sang to
me the way he did to her, well, I'd probably would have followed him
right over that Robert E. Lee Natural Bridge: "Low and lonely, sad and
blue; thinking only of little you; always trying, to keep from crying; I'm
low and lonely over you. Good looking and he could make music, how much more
did the woman want?

But my all time favorite character would have to be Floyd. Heck, he didn't
even have to say a funny line, and he was still funny. Take the lines, "He
assaulted me hard. I was assaulted." (ok, I might not
remember them perfectly.) But, no matter. In and of themselves, the
lines said by anyone else wouldn't merit a grin. But give them to Floyd, and
they (just like every other line) become a jewel. "Better
listen to her, Al." and "Maude, Al, if those hamburgers are ruined, I
won't be responsible!" The guy's a comic genius. And yet he could play a
serious role, for example as a doctor in the movie "Anatomy of a Murder."
Go figure. He's just a plain good actor. So, after Andy and Barney, he is
my favorite on TAGS. And considering how much I love the other people I
couldn't choose, that's saying a whole bunch!

A town begins to notice:
Al Becker, The Diner 12:00 p.m., summer 1964
"Hey, if you all want a good laugh, next time ya'll see Laura Lee Hobbs,
just ask her what she's on the look out for." heheheheheheh

Hey, Feller Mayberryans!

Our church has been doing the "Finding the Way Back to Mayberry" study and I
need your help. (And, by the way, you may already know there are lessons
plans to help with this at www.barneyfife.com.)

This Wednesday night I'll be leading it and we're doing the "Cousin Virgil"
episode. It's not one of the episodes that has a lesson plan, but I want to
do this one because it helps get into the subject of how we often don't
appreciate things about people until we know them better, and also that we
need to watch how we treat people who seem "different." Even though Virgil
didn't really have a disability, after some discussion I'm going to get a
chance to talk about a new task force we've started for Disability Awareness.
One of our goals is to help us all work on our attitudes.

If any of you have any more things about that episode that you think I should
point out, I'd be ever so grateful! We're having a good time with it and it
has made our church community feel a little bit more like Mayberry.

Thanks, y'all!

This weekend, I spotted Aunt Bee's Butter and Egg Man playing poker in Miss
Kitty's saloon on Gunsmoke. Since he sold an organ to the church in a
later episode, I had always thought he was a church-going man. Maybe Clara
broke his heart after the church got their hands on the organ and he went
bad.
