You know, one of the reasons we have always cited for not knowing Mr.
Schwump's real name is that because he never said anything, he was not
given a screen credit. Well, Leon is in the Shoplifter episode where he
offers a bit of his ever-present sandwich to the store dummy Barney. As
usual, never says anything. BUT when the credits roll, whose name was
right at the bottom? Clint Howard! Either our theory ain't worth much or
it just pays to be Ronny's little brother.

You can also spot Hugh Marlowe in science fiction films from the '50's and
'60's. He was in the classic "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "Earth vs.
The Flying Saucers". I also found Olan Soule in a brief role in "The
Towering Inferno."

I'm curious about how much a 'snootfull' is. Seriously doubting that this
is a scientific measurement, I deduced that snoot refers to snout or nose
and full means full. So, if someone has a snootfull would that mean that
they were full up to their nose or that their nose was full?

I would say Aunt Bee didn't quite have a snootfull although she did take
the adult dose and Mayor Stoner had MORE than a snootfull from drinking
out of that crock.

"Don't they ever clean this crock?!"

During lunch I picked up the new schedule for our AA farm club for Atlanta,
the Greenville Braves and I just noticed that under special events, July 29
is billed as "The Mayberry Deputy Appearance!" I gotta believe that's our
own David Browning.

David, you coming to my town?

>>>In this episode, how come Gomer can sing "Santa Lucia" perfectly outside
while tending to a car, but needs to read the sheet music when he sings it
inside? Maybe he was singing acapella. How does that go again? Acapella!
Acapella! - catchy.

Perhaps he doesn't know the entire song from memory. I'll bet you could
sing the first verse of "Joy to the World," or "Silent Night," but how many
people know ALL of the verses from memory?

I just wanted to note that one of my favorite (serious) lines from TAGS
is from the
Hobo Dave episode. Dave asks Andy why he won't let Opie make up his own
mind
& Andy responds something to the effect of " A young'un will grab at the
first shiny
thing he sees, & by the time he finds there's a hook in it, its' too
late." Something
along those lines. Any way, the point is, isn't that so true? How many
parents
today have abdicated their responsibility to guide. I always think of
that when dealing
with my own young'uns. Next best example is Bill Bixby refusing help
from his
father's attorney & Andy says " tell him the boy broke a window & wants
to fix it
himself". God Bless TAGS & all TAGS faithful. Hey to you & yours.

Last night when flipping thru the channels, on A&E there were two men
descending a staircase talking about bullets; on the door thru which they
entered, there was a poster of our beloved Barney Fife! They said
"there's who we oughta' be askin' " and the cameraman behind them said
"yeah!" I was so proud!!! Aunt Bee of Orlando

P.S. I think it was actually the metal sign that says Fife Security
Agency but they moved so fast you only got to see it briefly and maybe
lots of folks wouldn't have understood what they were talking about but
we Mayberry-ites sure did! I have that sign in my studio so I can see my
buddy when I'm working on my ceramics.
