I agree with Ellen Kuber's comments about getting credit for contributions
to the TAGS Trivia Game. I think this is a great opportunity for many of
our members to show how much they know about this show. Often times people
will find others to do their work and then take credit for it. It will be
nice if the maker of the trivia game gives each of our contributors credit
for the question/answer on the card.

Hi folks. I am responding to Ellen Kuber's concern over giving credit for
the free brain power that the members would be supplying for donating the
trivia questions for the new TAGS trivia game. I could defiantly pursue
something with the game company to, for example, have the contributors names
be mentioned somewhere on the box. Is this a good idea? Do you have another
suggestion? I agree whole heartedly that the authors should get credit. Do
we credit the entire WBMUTBB chapter? I think we have all the bargaining
power here.

Let me know and I will pursue it. I will then keep everyone posted on what
is going on. In the meantime keep em coming!!!

I just came across a site that has icons of TAGS. They aren't the best
drawings, but they are TAGS. The address is:

If that doesn't work just go to screensandthemes.com and choose icons.

I'm with Ellen Kuber on this trivia question deal. Sounds like we'd be
supplying the means for them to make money through little effort on their
part. When Jim produced those cookbooks he gave a free volume to all the
contributors. Once when I was asked to do an article for some obscure
Mayberry publication, the publisher didn't even have the good grace to
thank me much less offer me a free subscription even though he included
it in the next issue and sent me a copy (along with a plea to subscribe).
I'm always thrilled to hear of new Mayberry products and/or memorabilia
and I hate to make a moulage out of it but I resent anybody trying to
take advantage of us or further their own career on our "fandemonium!"

Hi, All you beautifully preserved people of Mayberry! It's Laura Lee
Hobbs here. The wedding's over, and it was beautiful, with dozens of
people having to stand, but all of us having a wonderful time. My son and
his new bride were both lovely!
I still haven't got TVLand yet. Got a channel receiving old soap operas,
yeah that's right--reruns of something called "Ryan's Hope" and old, old
episodes of "One Life to Live," but no TVLand with TAGS.
Can you believe my luck? It's enough to make me and Lydia both cry, and you
all know how much Lydia hates to cry. She doesn't mind a sigh now and then,
or an occasional composed sniffle, but she hates to
cry. But what's a girl to do when she is tested beyond her endurance?
Well, now that the party is over, it's back to doing what I was born to do:
working in the dime store and keeping out an ever watchful eye
for those gold trucks.
Talk to you later.

Greg, those plates turn up on eBay from time to time. The one with Andy's
portrait was the first in the series, and it is pretty hard to find
nowadays. If you do find one, expect to pay at least $100 for it.

I just got TVLand...finally! My question is, these TAGS shows on here are
all supposed to have the original endings on them, right? Are they supposed
to be totally uncut? The reason I ask is because I saw the one tonight about
Opie and his birds, and when Barney was doing his "bird talk" they cut out
the part where he does the "Here comes a cat!" and "Let's fly away!" "Okay!"
 What's the deal with that?

Hey all you fellow Mayberry nuts-

I saw in my Sunday paper a few weeks ago that a company is printing checks
with scenes from the "I Love Lucy" Show. There are four different scenes
depicted from the show. Hey - if Lucy fans can have checks, what about Andy
fans? I know I would order TAGS checks if they were available. What about
it, Allan? Is such a pipe dream possible?

It's a sad, sad day down here at the dime store, and out by 123 South there
ain't been so much as a gold truck in sight.

Yesterday our cable went out. It was out again today, so I called and was
told by the nice (HA!) lady at the cable company that it was our turn to
have our area fitted with those fiber optic things that would be bringing
all kind of new channels in (like that band new soap opera channel we
already have). She said we would likely have interruptions
up to three days, but I figured ANYTHING would be worth it as long as
I ended up with TVLand. I was all atingle when I asked if by Wednesday I
could be watching TVLand and TAGS. But guess what? While
TVLand is the number one most requested channel, and we were all told
it would be coming in this March, we are now being told it will be sometime
this summer before it comes in. Is that a dirty trick or what? Our cable
rates, of course, have increased significantly.

I part with you, dear friends, in the words of our beloved Mr.
Briscoe Darling as he once spoke so exquisitely of that dear but often
rascally Ernest T. Bass, "We thought of killing him, but kind of
hated to take it that far."

(That's exactly the way me and Lydia feel about the cable people.)
Dime store ace and gold truck watcher extraordinare sitting out by Highway
123 South down Ozark, AL way, with one broken heart, and a face flooded by
tears, Laura Lee Hobbs

Hey Folks,

Quote of the Day is a feature I used to do almost everyday here on the Digest
and at the urging of some of our members...I'm gonna try to start doing the
QOD and the "Omen of the Day" features again. I always enjoyed 'em and I hope
you will as well.

******QUOTE OF THE DAY*******

ANDY: This is good, Rodger. What is it?
ROGER: It's Baked Alaska.
ANDY: I don't believe I ever heard of it.
BARNEY: Sure you have, Andy. You just forgot. That's
Baked Alaska. It's that new dessert that come
out since it became a state.
