My question is, these TAGS shows on here are all supposed to have the original endings on them, right? Are they supposed to be totally uncut? >> Smokey: They are not advertised as totally uncut. Sometimes they cut scenes that we are used to seeing in order to get the epilogues in. So, sometimes we have to sacrifice a little to see things we don't always get to see. All in all, it's a pretty good trade-off. Kevin G. I know the issuers of GWTW plates have contacted me from time to time with names of people who are ready to sell their collections. Second, I periodically write or e-mail check printing companies and urge them to do a Mayberry series; they always reply positively and promise to consider it so I'm hoping for one in the future. I'd love to see all kinds of things available in a Mayberry motif so we can spread the word! Aunt Bee of Orlando ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Mar 2000 19:10:50 -0600 (CST) From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Ellen Kuber) Subject: This 'n That About the credit for question authorship -- I don't know that credit would necessarily have to be on the box (though that would be nice, if there'd be room) but it couldn't be too hard to recognize contributors on the inside instruction sheet that comes with the game. I once contributed to writing a counseling manual and I was listed on an "acknowledgment page." It wasn't a huge concession on the publisher's part--more of a professional courtesy--but I appreciated the fact that my contribution was remembered in some way. Personally, if I wrote a bunch of questions and submitted them (which I haven't yet, by the way...) I'd rather have my authorship acknowledged than get a free game in appreciation. And if they wanted to categorize WBMUTBB members who contributed, that's fine, but authors should still be listed individually by name. They could say something like "Special thanks to: blah, blah, and blah." If this is important to anyone here, I'd wait to hear what the producers of the game are going to do before submitting questions. That way you're eliminating the potential for hurt feelings and/or misunderstandings. After all, if they say that they can't promise anything, you still have the option of writing questions without expecting any kind of acknowledgment, and that's your prerogative. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Mar 2000 19:17:47 CST From: "jim and sheila henderson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: to make room for commercials | |at least tv land is not chopping them up like tbs did, whacking off the epilogues to make room for commercials, and chopping up bits and pieces here and there to fit in those commercials so tbs could get richer off the talents and work of all the hardworking people on tags, which by the way...they only got paid for one rerun...the one that came the summer following that particular season. My heart goes out to all the cast that have sit back and watch others get rich off their sweat when they did the origional series! the hendersons ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Mar 2000 19:11:09 -0600 From: "Jeff Reed" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: TAGS Clocks OK, now how many of you have your "official" Andy Griffith clocks? I have mine, and I love it! All you have to do is go to the TV Land web site - www.tvland.com - and register for the fandemonium prize, which by the way, this week is an LP and a CD of our own Andy. TV Land lets you download the clock for free just for registering. Let's take advantage of this opportunity to keep Mayberry on our computers the way God intended it to be! Besides McHale's Navy and The Brady Bunch, as well as numerous guest appearances on TAGS and The Dick Van Dyke Show, he played Barney Hefner on All in the Family and Archie Bunker's Place for around 10 years I believe. His last role was as a voice in "Challenge of the Go-Bots" and is now retired. I know of someone who wrote him, and he was nice enough to write back. Hope this helps. - -J\/\/ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Mar 2000 17:54:13 -0800 (PST) From: Fritzzy Terri <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: wbmutbb-digest V2 #86 Hey everyone, Just wanted you to know that in Georgia I have been planning and organizing the Andy Griffith Fandemnoium Weekend party at my house -- don't know how it will turn out -- but hey, its not long until I find out!! Linda Taylor ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Mar 2000 06:17:14 +0500 From: "Rod Sadler" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Just a couple notes Hi everyone... I noted there was some conversation about "Sam the Butcher" from the Brady Bunch. Just a slight correction....his name is Allan Melvin, not Melville. He has quite a history of show's he's been a part of. He was even slated for the Mayberry Squad Car Rendezvous a few years back but that didn't pan out. Also, somone mentioned having TAGS checks printed. Here's what I did. I purchased VersaCheck software at a local computer store. This allows you to print your own checks with all of the correct information from your bank. They lead you through...step by step, putting in all of your information including your bank along with all of routing numbers and account numbers and they use the "secret" codes on the that's required by the banks. Then, they allow you to put in whatever image you want, in whatever format you want. I happen to have a den full of Mayberry illustrations and renderings that I've done, and those now adorn my personal checks. They are absolutely GREAT. I get a lot of comments from places where I write checks. The checks have all of the modern security features on them too, such as the watermarks on the back. I highly recommend them if you're interested in making Mayberry checks. I might recommend (as they do) that you check with your bank or financial institution when you make some up and make sure that all of the numbers are correct and that they will accept them. I've had no problems with mine. Good luck. Rod Sadler Mayberry Michigan Chapter, TAGSRWC ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Mar 2000 21:25:52 -0500 From: "GRITTON, JOE A. After scraping together the answer myself, I discovered it is on our website under cast bios's http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/index.htm Allan Melvin (not Melville, easy mistake he is a Whale of an actor) appeared as follows #50 Jailbreak as Doc Malloy the crook #57 Andy and Barney in the Big City as Detective Bardoli #73 Lawman Barney as Neal, the dreaded crook #90 Barney's first car as Jake, Hubcap's Lesch' sidekick #99 Ernest T joins the Army as the Army Recruiter #118 Andy's Vacation as the slippery jail-breaking prisoner #135 Barney's Uniform as Grocery big-man Fred Plummer #222 Howard's Main Event as Clyde the Bully check out his Bio. He also did some cartoon voices such as Magilla Gorilla. Allan is also featured in my Fan Fiction Story "An Unforgettable Christmas" that you can find on that great website under FAN FICTION. http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/index.htm - ---- Someone asked a few days ago about Rance Howard playing as guard on the "Gold Truck" episode. The story goes that one of the two real actors took ill (heart attack?) during the filming. To finish the shooting Rance and another new actor finished the show in different uniforms. - ----- Allan, thanks for that great quote...from the Esquire Club Another strange tidbit. TAGs vet Ron Howard was involved in another "Alaska" joke. On Happy Days, Richie and pals Potsy and Ralph were talking. One says "Did you know they were thinking about making Alaska a state." Another says "Wow, just think someday an Eskimo could be President, and on the opening day of baseball season he could through out the first SNOWBALL (words to that effect). uh 10-4 over and under, under and out The Untrained Voice Joe Gritton ------------------------------ End of wbmutbb-digest V2 #87 **************************** ************************************************** ~ Visit our sponsor ~ Weaver's Department Store ~ http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/weavers/ ************************************************** You must send your comments to the Digest from the address you used to join WBMUTBB or your message will not be posted.
