In response to Ellen Kuber's note about trivia questions for TAGS, I think if
a person does have a question for a trivia game (which I also agree would be
great), it would be neat to identify who came up with the little trivia bit.
It might also get a lot of people getting their thinking caps on. Get ready
for Miss Crump's quiz as in the "Bullet".

Hey Gang,
I really loved the TVLand Insiders Special, but I was really disappointed
that they didn't mention Hal Smith or Denver Pyle and "the family". They did
show a few short scenes of Hal. I loved him so much and I really think they
could have mentioned him.
He brought so much to the show and I could not think of TAGS without his
character. Well I guess we can't have everything.
Can't wait until this weekend!! Our VCR is ready to go!
Happy Motoring!

Thought it was well edited. Didn't really learn anything new, but it was still
fun to see a few behind the scenes clips. Noticed two
things........Andy appears to have gained a lot of weight since Matlock....hope
he's in good health. Also, although Hal Smith was shown in a
few clips....no mention was actually made of him.

Other than those two things, I thought it was good. Would liked to have seen
some interviews with George Lindsey and a few more...........oh
well. Got to be happy with what you get.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have any background on the production of
these specials that have been airing recently on various networks? It
began with E! Entertainment Channel and their "True Hollywood
Stories". Then, Entertainment Tonight began airing pretty much the
same shows, with perhaps one of two "new" things. Biography airs
another version of it also. And now, TV Land seems to be getting into
it. It's not just tags -- but many old shows .... same basic footage
but each network seems to get one or two exclusive pieces to it. Any
ideas?

|Concerning that game everyone is "talking" about: it probably boils down to
the fact that people will freely give of their questions and answers and the
game people will freely take in the money made off the freely-given
questions/answers.
How many times has that happened to well meaning and helpful people? It is
not the recognition and credits with their names that means the most, it is
the fact that the game people will make money off other's free help. Sorry
but true.!Hey from Branson

One last comment about credit, etc., for trivia questions for the game. Some
people are concerned/unhappy about the fact that the game company will make a
bunch of money at the "expense of the fans." The fact is, they are going to
come up with a 1000 new questions whether we contribute them or not. So,
they are going to make their money. I thought people might want to
contribute to feel a part of the game and be acknowledged in some way in the
game. The game would certainly be more challenging when people who know the
show can come up with some good questions. I already told one member (who
submitted several hundred questions) that he is certainly entitled to a free
game as well as some recognition whether it be individually or as a member of
the chapter. What a great contribution by Jeff Koontz who was very
accommodating in sharing his questions. Thanks again, we are well on our way
to a great new game!!!

I thought the TV Land Andy Griffith special was fantastic. I especially
enjoyed seeing TAGSRWC President Jim Clark and author Neal Brower relating
their views of the show. One thing that really touched me was Jim Nabor's
comment that many of the soldiers that we see during the opening credits of
Gomer Pyle USMC lost their lives in the Viet Nam war. Sometimes it's easy
to forget that during the filming of the show, a real war with real
casualties was raging half a world away. I will never again watch the
beginning of Gomer Pyle without being reminded of Jim's comment and the
ultimate sacrifice made by many of those men pictured.

Hey Folks,

I think it's great to have a chance to be a part of getting a new TAGS trivia
game together!! Thanks to Scott for letting our little corner of Mayberry be
a part of the building process!!

I know some folks don't like that their questions might make make money for
someone else and I can understand that but the easiest way to avoid that
happening (if you feel strongly about it) is to not contribute any questions.
Scott has been upfront from the start about what the questions would be for
and if you choose to send in your trivia questions then you knew upfront what
they would be used for.

Y'all try not to look at it as not getting credit for your hard work but as a
great way to make even MORE Mayberry fun for everybody! There can NEVER be
too much Mayberry in this world.

ANDY: No, I'll go.
BARN: I don't mind going.
ANDY: I don't either. I can go.
BARN: You're probably tired. Why don't you let me go?
ANDY: No, I'm not tired. I'll go.
BARN: I sure don't mind going.
ANDY: Why don't we both just go?
BARN: O.K.
ANDY: You ready?
BARN: Uh-huh.

BARN: Where we goin'?
ANDY: Down to the drugstore to get some ice cream for later.

Subject: Gomer

I hope someone else saw Gomer last night.
It seems a movie producer was going to the base to find a platoon of Marines
who could sing as a group in one of his movies. Sgt. Carter screened all the
guys and found who could and could not sing and came up with a fantastic
chorus. Only thing, when Sgt. Carter joined in, the singing was way off key.
Starting to sound familiar? The group would find places to practice away from
the Sgt., like in the back of a truck or in the freezer, but the Sgt would
always find them.
Gomer finally told Carter his voice was the bad one, and he got so upset and
screaming so loud he lost his voice. Gomer thought he should be included in
the group when they auditioned, so he told the Sgt to just move his lips and
they would do the singing and no one would know the difference. When it came
time for the Sgt's solo part, he stood out front of the group moving his lips
and Gomer held his book in front of his face and sang the Sgt's part.
Does any or all of this sound familiar at all? By the way, the song they
rehearsed a lot was number 14. Close!! Great show and I hope someone else saw
all this fantastic connection to TAGS.

Subject: at least we see the epilogues, though parts are edited

TAGS might be edited slightly (on tv land), but at least we actually GET to
see those wonderful epilogues! You know, on some of TAGS , the epilogue
actually
"made" the show! Like when Mr. Tucker was there on the porch, asleep, with
that peeled apple in his hand...and it was in ONE piece! I still get a tight
throat every time I see THAT epilogue!!!A few years ago, maybe 9 or 10, TBS
actually had a mayberry- athon and during superbowl sunday showed TAGS,
advertised
as "UNCUT" . Full of commercials...BUT uncut(so to speak). I remember Barney
saying to "watch out for the cat", or something like that . I still have a
couple of video tapes of that day! If I can find it, I will relive some of my
favorites! It takes sooooooooo much time to edit and make another,
commercial-free
tape, but.....one of these days...I just might do that!"Hey", from Branson,
