Subject: Johnny Coons Sightings

In the Parnell Rigsby episode about the lost wallet, Johnny has a really
nice walkby in front of the Court House. Can't miss that trademark hat and
nose. Boy, can that man steal a scene!

Parnell Rigsby trivia. What was Parnell's address? It was on his mailbox
when Andy took the money back to him.

For you Johnny Coons watchers. The bench to the right of the Court House
door is a favorite haunt of Johnny's. I know there are 2 episodes where
the squad car pulls up and Johnny is on the bench reading the paper. Watch
for continuity problems here. The car pulls up, the shot is from the
street while Andy and Barney get out of the car. Johnny is reading away.
They walk toward the Court House door, the shot shifts to the sidewalk so
you're looking between the columns and the door. Lo and behold the bench
is now empty! Sometimes Johnny moves as fast as Mr. Schwump at the dance.

Was just watching My Three Sons on TV Land this morning and saw our own
Miss Peggy(Joanna Moore) playing a dancing instructor, the connection
between TAGS & My Three Sons is uncanny. Also, the marathon last weekend
was great. What a real tribute to our favorite hometown & the
cast......Lotsa Luck to You & Yours......Dave.

Actually, "Chester" became the Mayor of Mayberry, and "Doc" started cutting
hair! :-) I've listened to several episodes of the old Gunsmoke radio
show, and love listening to the voices I'm so familiar with in other roles!

Hey, all this talk about the Hoot Owl Pie is making me hungry. Nothing
better than a big slice of Hoot Owl Pie after a nice bowl of Charlene's
Fish Muttle. Yum, yum.

Grettings from the small town of Belton SC, home of the Standpipe
Festival. The marathon was great! Of course we all have our favorite
episodes, but here's three cheers for any episode that has Andy and Barney
sittin' on the porch on a Sunday afternoon/evening after church, and after
one of Aunt Bea's great Sunday dinners. "The corporation's really growing".
There's nothing like Andy (with his guitar) and Barney sitting, singing and
just about to dose off. That's peacefully content and a state of mind I love
going to!
In regards to David Browning's April 8th apperance at the Greenville
Braves, I think it's a great idea for us WBMUTBB members that are in the
Greenville area to show our support. Hopefully we'll have a"...swell
turnout."

                  Take care all,

It's a ten episode set on DVD. You can get it at kencranes.com for
$34.99. It says B&W/Color, so maybe, just maybe there's a color episode
or two on it.

Didn't the Inside TV Land special cite TAGS as being a spinoff of "Make
Room For Daddy", starring Danny Thomas? If so, they're wrong.
After "Make Room For Daddy" left ABC and went to CBS, it was called "The
Danny Thomas Show", So technically, TAGS is a spinoff from "The Danny
Thomas Show.

Subject: My Observation

Thanks for the great response to my question about the Danny Thomas
pre-pilot episode concerning the rented suit. Here's my observation. Is
anyone a fan of the NBC show Wings that stopped airing a couple of years
ago?

The SAME JOKE was used in an episode of that sitcom. Lowell, the dim-witted
plane mechanic (a Gomer-type character?), comented about his finances and
how he was paying monthly rent on a tuxedo because it was his uncle's dying
wish to be buried in one. Faye, the motherly character (Aunt-Bee maybe?),
scolded him and made him confront the tuxedo rental company.

Since we all have so much fun looking for TAGS actors on other shows, I
wonder how many TAGS gags or plotlines we could find on other shows. Any
takers? It'll be fun!

The name out to the left appears is '_ _ _ _ _ Opel'. It seems to me that the
partially shown first name ends with "nd' possibly "ond", but not "ina". I
always figured this was the name of the preacher that drew up the papers. It
seems that if it was Andelina's name it would have 'Andelina Opel Wash'.

Now, I don't want to be pushy and I don't like unsolicited 'ads' myself
BUT........ I just posted an item on ebay that I thought some of you
fellow Mayberryians might like to take a peek at ( and hopefully bid on
! !). It is listed under item no. 296865657 MAYBERRY ANDY GRIFFITH
BARNEY FIFE PEDAL CAR.
That's right... a 1/4 size pedal car made to look like the 'ol black and
white that Barney and Andy drove. I'm mighty proud of how it came out
and was hoping someone of you might give it a good home. If one of the
members of the WBMUTBB gang ends up with this in THEIR garage, I'll
throw in a "special" gift...but only to WBMUTBB members.
Any questions, give me a holler....
Thanks again, I need to get back to the stand.

I think what you saw was the last part of the preacher's name, not the
bride's name.

Subject: tonight on Andy

Tonight (Friday) at 11 p.m. Mountain time — do the math for your own
time
periods — is the classic "Three Wishes for Opie." I think it's the best
episode they ever did.
It's wildly funny, from the great take by Barney when Andy pulls him
into
the courthouse at the start to the end, when Barney triumphs. The look on
his screwed-up face as he retrieves the magic cards and paraphernalia is a
winner.
It's an eerie episode as well, since at the end it appears there is a
Count
Iz! Unlike the "Haunted House," where a bootlegger and Andy make the ghost
appear, Count Iz seems to be very real.
I like these episodes that show magic as a force in our world. Andy is
all-too-often portrayed as a Christian show, when, as any loyal viewer
knows, there are references to alcoholism and drinking, wife beating, arson,
pornography (at least two or three times) and, dare we say it here, SEX! The
word marijuana is even mentioned once, and the references to searching the
Fleet band members seems to point in that direction as well.
Yes, the folks in Mayberry were human and flawed after all. Thank god
for
that.
Yeah, I'd call that a fast lens! Pretty nice, huh?
