Subject: NOTE FROM ALLAN
Hey folks,
I just wanted to answer a few questions that I seem to get a good bit so
everybody could see the answer.
First, to send a message to the WBMUTBB Digest all you have to do is send the
email to:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
That'll get it to the right place.
Next, if you need to change the email address to which the Digest is
mailed....just follow the directions that are at the bottom of EVERY issue of
the WBMUTBB Digest. Unsubscribing is also covered there.
>From time to time folks send extra long emails (over 2000 characters). Long
messages like that have to be approved by the list-owner so if I'm away from
my computer for a few days your message can't be "okayed" until I get home. I
just don't want y'all thinking you've done something that kept your post
from getting through.
PLEASE don't send messages in HTML format (i.e. with Bold, color, pictures,
attachments, etc) to the WBMUTBB Digest. The mailing list can't handle that
kind of message and it will bounce back to you.
Most important of all, ENJOY yourself here in our little corner of Mayberry!!!

Hey folks,
Just a reminder that if you want to WBMTUBB Chapter T-shirt and/or sweatshirt
you need to get your order in ASAP. We plan on taking the order to the folks
that make the shirts for us in early May!! We won't be ordering extra shirts
(a few maybe but don't count on it) so you need to order one if you want one.
Go to the URL below to see what the shirts look like and to place your order.

MOUSEPADS
Folks, I just saw the design for the new mousepads. Let me tell you...WOW! I
love 'em. We haven't nailed down the order yet (I have to order 150 of 'em,
ouch!) but I'm in the process. As soon as I've nailed it down, I'll put the
graphic on the same page at the tshirts so you can go and see it. The design
is very much like the one on the back of the tees but it's MUCH better
because a PRO did the design for us. I'm even checking into the possibility
of getting the design from him for the shirts but I don't know if that'll
work out or not.
The mouse pads will be $9 or $10 mailed to you. REMEMBER, these are for club
members only. We don't want to hurt the business for the "real" Mayberry
mousepads that are out there for sell from Hometown TV. Greg Akers (owner of
Hometow TV) is a member here and we sure enough want to support his efforts.
I just think the chapter mousepad is a neat fit for WBMUTBB members.
That's all for now.

There is only the Digest version of the mailing list. We don't have the
"live" version of a mailing list here in Mayberry. Most folks like the Digest
version best.

I hope I am replying the right way, but I've never done this before, so if
I'm not, please forgive.
I am usually unable to read the whole digest every day because of time, but
if someone would just email me privately with this information, I would
certainly appreciate it.. My question is this..
Is there a Mayberry or Andy Griffith Rerun watcher's club reunion or
convention every year? or this year? Would someone kindly email me with the
information?
Thank ye and best of luck to you and yours,
~Alice~

Richard,
you do have some good points, you are right about Hollywood being able
to mess up a good thing with all thats bad in the world. They are under the
misconception
that everything has to be realistic, it has to look real. I've been taught
in the acting
profession that you have to create reality, and you have to be real. But I
feel as
most everyone here does , in that why can't Hollywood make the movies and TV
programs
where the reality is that most evryone gets along and they love their
neighbor as their self.
It worked so well back in the TAGS era, which all of the shows of that era
have never been off the air.
That in itself should say it all.
Also the biggest money makers by statistics, are the family movies,
childrens, ( The closest to G movies)

Hi Debbie!
I loved your e-mail about Gomer and Mary-Grace. I, too, loved the episod=
e. =
My very favorite episode, however, (not unlike yours), had our
larger-than-life hero, Gomer, too. It was the one where Barney had his h=
eart
set on singing the SANTA LUCIA solo. Do you remember that one? In reher=
sal,
they heard a beautiful voice singing along outside the open window, and i=
t was
Gomer! When Barney was told Gomer would be singing the solo, they showed=
Barney alone in the hall, approaching the stage, and sadly singing the so=
ng so
sadly. He did not know Gomer was there, and Gomer saw him. Of course, s=
weet
Gomer feins larengytis, and refuses to steal the spotlight in lieu of Bar=
ney's
feelings. What a guy! I have loved that episode for many years, and,
although Barney is my all-time fav, I agree no one can fill Gomer's shoes=
for
character, charm and grace. =
Bye to ya'll,
Debbie in AZ

All right, Laura Lee Hobbs! You can flirt with all the men coming into
the dime store that you want, and you can go out to greet gold trucks
with Andy and Barney every day of the week, but you keep your
cotton-picking hands off'en MY Gomer! And if you don't like it, you can
run up an alley and holler fish! There, I said it and I ain't-a takin'
it back! Gomer has kissed me square on the jaw, and I don't know about
the Ozarks, but where I come from, that's as good as being engaged! So
hands off! :-)
Gomer's one and only....

it was the Gomer and Mary Grace episode, and a sweeter/funnier show never
aired.<
Howdy, Debbie!
Most of the time I observe Gomer as funny, but your observation of a caring
& considerate
human being made me consider the other facets of that "Diamond" Jim. Any
actor who makes
you believe they're real and evokes your emotions (and don't all the TAGS
actors) is doing
a great job.
Thanks for your insight, Laura Lee!

Hey To All,
Hope everyone is enjoying a leisurely Sunday! I have been watching the
responses to this Enquirer new tidbit (and yes, I have offered my two cents
already) and I guess I have two more cents to chip into Opie's PiggyBank...
The thing is is if there is a remake of TAGS or Mayberry in any form, it
probably will go belly up like "Leave It To Beaver", "The Beverly
Hillbillies" and even "My Favorite Martian". I think those copies of the
videos that were sold were mostly as holiday gift giving and for those who
are to young to know and appreciate the real show they were based on. One
could ponder the point of Tim Allen trying to fill Andy's shoes and for
Mayberry to be returned and remade. But the tick in my side on this is that
for those shows that have been remade, they invariably did not stay to true
character or to the show thus really rewriting the show, not only were did
they do a belly flop in the swimming pool of box office sales but in my
opinion, I respectfully say that the original show kind of got into being a
mockery from the times changing over the decades. It was a simpler life back
then and these are different times, sadly. I would hate to even see the
attempt of a belly flop remake of our dear Mayberry with TAGS even being made
to have this inferred on it's history and reputation as one of the best shows
ever. Just like I don't think "I Love Lucy" could ever be remade with
characters being Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel. Ewww...you don't know how I
hate the sight of ticks! So I'd rather not have one sticking in my side!
And YES SIRREE!!! I think the remake would indeed be a BIG disappointment.
Still offering my ticket to see it as I don't think I will be attending it's
showing.
Taking my weekly count of Aunt Bee pickle jars so back to the pickle stock!
