I'm also looking forward to the movie starring Billy Bob Thornton, Andy
Griffith and John Prine. I've been a JP fan since Illegal Smile and Saddle
in the Rain, and have seen him twice. I was lucky enough to get to spend a
few minutes with him after a 1997 concert and he was as pleasant and witty
as you'd hope for.
The movie is called "Daddy and Them." Prine talked about it during a
recent
performance on PBS, and it should be funny and offbeat. It might also be a
tad off-color, judging from the song from the movie he sang during the PBS
show. So some Andy fans might want to pass so they won't get their feathers
ruffled.
Incidentally, I saw Pleasantville again this weekend and enjoyed it more.
It's a great take on what the interior lives of sitcom characters might be
like. Don Knotts added a touch of authenticity, and Jeff Daniels was great.
Incidentally, when do the black and white episodes return to TVLand?

Is there any chance of holding a Mayberry event out here in Seattle?
Squad car rendezvous etc?

i have noticed the past few days, tvland seems to be repeating the 7pm
and 1am shows. they used to repeat the 7 and 10 pm, and show a different
one at 1 am.
i am one of the few i suppose , that enjoys the color episodes as
much as the b & w. thank heaven for tv land!!

Subject: Mayberry Pendant

Does anyone know if there are Mayberry pendants available for sale? I would
love to have the old blue and orange up on my den wall. I have thought
about trying to find a good seamstress and have one made. Can these be made
on a one time basis someplace like a screen-print shop? Is the cost too
prohibitive for this one time type of thing? What I am looking for is a
pendant that reads Mayberry Union High.

Thanks, Jim

Subject: MAYBERRY MOVIE

I HAVEN'T SAID ANYTHING IN A LONG TIME HOWEVER WITH ALL OF THE TALK AND
CRITICISM OVER THIS NEW MOVIE still has no real existence as of yet. I must
agree with everyone else however since the track record of good remakes
without even one original cast member is pretty bad if not downright
shameful! I think movie reviewers need to come out with the "F" rating for
these flicks. Aside from the Little rascals movie which to my utter
amazement found virtually dead ringers for the principal characters, most of
the other remakes, particularly Bilko are awful!! The only thing a made for
tv movie on Mayberry can possibly achieve is to introduce those people
unaware of the original series (yes there are still deprived souls out
there!) to the old shows thus creating new fans!!!!!!!!!!! As for earlier
comments on the colour episodes over the black and white shows, I love them
all! Warren did his best to replace Barney and I think his style of comedy
was refreshing at the time! I'm really glad of the opportunity we were given
to see the show in colour, particularly to see Floyd and Ernst T and the
rest of the nuts!!! There are actors and actresses that we'll never get to
see what they would have looked like in real colour since it never existed
when they were around or they just never got captured on film for one reason
or another!!! All I have to wach now are my tapes of Andy since most of
Ontario's cable systems are without nick-at-nite. KEITH

Subject: More TVLand Episodes

I didn't look at the weekend line-ups on TVLand because I assumed they
were still running those Fandemonium Weekends. Well, guess what? Not
anymore! So I have a few more scheduled TAGS episodes to list (still
nothing after the 28th).
I got curious as to why several episodes were being skipped, so I
thought I'd check--good thing I did!

Subject: TVLand Schedule Changes

Is it my imagination or is TVLand flip flopping the TAGS schedule on us?
I'm trying to record all shows. I record the 7:00 & at 1:00 am shows so
that I get both shows shown each night.

Now, the 1:00 show is the same as the one at 7:00, & the 10:00 show is the
different one. Has anyone else noticed this? I thought my vcr wasn't
recording & come to find out, I was getting 2 copies of the same show!!

Oh well, I guess I'm just getting old & set in my ways, but they just keep
messing with my head. All the stuff I got goin on in my head don't need
re-arranging, thank you!!
Well, just had to vent. They just beat everthang, you know that!!

Yep - neither Mr. Tucker nor Mr. Foster could make it through
town in a a Lincoln, now could they. Saw the Foster lady episode
for the first time in a while and noticed that the place where
Mr. Foster swerved to avoid the cow (the cow probably startled
him by appearing at the roadside in work boots, right Luke?)
looked like the place where Alan Melvin and his buddy were
selling produce in another episode. Made me wince to see that
fine Continental halfway on its side in the ditch.

Andy described Mr. Foster's location as "about a mile and a half
from the lake" or something like that when he called in to Goober
on the radio telephone.

Oh, well, that's enough about that. I don't want to run around
making a big moulage about that cow.

Subject: TAGS Trivia

Hiddy All,

I thought you all might enjoy this. It comes one day as a question and when
I read it, a smile crept across my face! Well, Barney, of course!

TODAY'S TRIVIA: NIP IT!

Answer to our previous question: Last time, we asked you what comedy
character said:

"Well, today's eight-year-olds are tomorrow's teenagers. I say this
calls for action and now! Nip it in the bud! First sign of youngsters
going wrong, you've got to nip it in the bud."

It was Barney Fife who delivered the line on "The Andy Griffith Show."
Barney further asserted, "Nip it! You go read any book you want on the
subject of child discipline and you'll find every one of them is in
favor of bud-nipping."
