TVLand is fine but I'll take all of Mayberry I can get. >> Only one national cable network can hold the rights to a given show at a time. However, local stations can pick up the shows and run them whenever they like. In response to the latest on the Mayberry movie rumor, I think it'd definitely be bad. It just seems to me most of them are horrible...such as The Brady Bunch...which while it did pay homage to the series, it also mocked it and really didn't capture the feeling at all. It was almost like watching people dress up and play the characters while over inflating their faults. On the other hand I thought the first Addams Family movie was wonderful. While one might argue that is not exactly a tv show-based movie considering it was also a comic strip, let me point out that the names, characterizations, and various other things seen in that movie were all created exclusively for the tv show. I just have a feeling doing TAGS would be a horrible idea...leave it the way it is. - -Josh ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 May 2000 14:11:58 -0400 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: TAGS on TBS, etc. As it was explained to me, no "cable" channel but TVLand has the right to air TAGS, but local stations can still do so. That's why our new channel 27 is doing it and having that fabulous contest. Meanwhile, did anyone else download the free clock from the TVLand website fandemonium page after voting for favorite episodes? It is sure comical but I think a couple statements it makes are false just like that infamous computer game. If your looking for a good investment, I have a very rare buffalo nickel that I might consider parting with at the right price. In addition to the buffalo facing the wrong way, this special nickel was in the pocket of Teddy Roosevelt as he dragged a cannon by horseback up San Juan Hill. I am an out-of-control fan. I collect as much stuff about the show as I can. I am a member of TAGSRWC. I believe that Don Knotts was the best actor but ALL of them were very much above average. When the show is on I am in Mayberry and no other show has ever done that for me. Even on the big screen, I have never seen anything that evokes the same feelings of happiness and warmth that this show does. The writers were simply the best writers ever for any show. They deserve much respect and honor for the wonderful storylines they created. The producers and directors had to be the greatest. There is nothing bad to say about the show but I have to admit that when Don Knotts left it was never the same. I love them all but the "Barn" episodes are my all-time favorites. There are so many people that deserve credit for the show...they all have my gratitude for making something that has enriched my life. I am a much happier person because I watch "The Andy Griffith Show" and have for many, many years and will for many, many more!!! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 07 May 2000 15:47:00 CDT From: "DEBORAH DUBOSE" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: What you see ain't what you get Now this may come as a surprise to you, but Laura Lee Hobbs has brain trouble. By brain trouble I mean my brain sometimes tells me one thing, when actually it's another thing entire that has happened. This usually is not such a big deal and results in nothing more than a little confusion now and then. And I get along with my gold truck watching and dime store clerking just fine, most of the time. But a few weeks ago my brain had a visual confusion (quite unusual for me) that did cause a bit of a problem. (Now Tom don't have a hissy fit, this is Mayberry related, I promise you.) The vision started with me seeing an entire episode of TAGS on TBS. (Though no TV was really on at the time, and I was actually in bed. What happened to me was I hallucinated which has only happened one other time in my life. Now, it may sound to you all just like a dream. But believe me, it is quite different. It's as if all the action--sight, sound, smells, characters-- are right in front of you; and even after you know it didn't really happen, to my brain it did. I can't explain it, that's just the way it is.) It was the Fun Girls' episode and everything was just wonderful up until the ending when the boys were supposed to be outside the court house talking about what would they do if the girls came back. Well, I saw the boys trying to open a padlock on the court house door while the Fun Girls were driving around tooting the car horn at them. Now, when has the court house EVER had a pad lock on it? Never, that's when. And we all know that's not how this episode is suppose to end. And this is where the funny part comes in. Now, I was quite ill (which would have told my family something, but I was alone at the time and it told me nothing), but as soon as I got to feeling well enough to dial a phone, I called the cable company! Yeah, that's what I did all right. Called Miss Patty right up and told her first I was very glad that TBS was now showing TAGS again since we don't have TVLand and I shorely was missing my Andys. But then I had to tell her she needed to contact that giant company TBS and maybe even Ted Turner because someone (could it be that Jane Fonda?) was messing around and screwing up his Andys. For some reason Miss Patty didn't seem to know what in the world I was talking about. Finally Miss Patty turned me over to Nina who, thankfully, knew all about me, (I used to work with her mom) and could figure out what had probably happened and got some medical help for me. Turns out my Depakote had gone toxic on me. Anyway, since no real, bad harm was done, I thought it was kind of a funny thing and I thought it was real funny that I hallucinated on Andy. Shows you how much I have missed that show! Laura Lee Hobbs, dime store clerk, gold truck watcher extraordinare, little brain trouble now and then, but nothing stops watching them Andys ------------------------------ End of wbmutbb-digest V2 #139 ***************************** ************************************************** ~ Visit our sponsor ~ Weaver's Department Store ~ http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/weavers/ ************************************************** You must send your comments to the Digest from the address you used to join WBMUTBB or your message will not be posted.
