front of Crowley's market on Wednesday (that's when they sweep the

hey all! hope everyone is doing fine. if i may put my two cents worth in here
regarding a possible new TAGS movie. i would say absolutely NOT!!!!! why try
to
experiment with perfection? the whole ambience has been long gone for a
number of
years now. and the 60s aint coming back, so it would be a physical
impossibility!
and in the end, possibly corrupting everybodies memories of a perfect town,
with
perfect people, in a perfect time!!!!!!!!!! I SAY A DISTINCTIVE HANDS
OFF...........
i love all you Mayberrites......keep the faith
ur undying confederate.................bRAnDOn

is
enough reason for a suit and tie, and a dress with stockings. No one is ever
wearing a shirt with a funny saying or anything like that. Hey, me and Lydia
are real laid back and we like it that way. I'm just wondering if some day
we are going to look back and think how silly we looked dressed the way we
are at our age. Maybe we all have gone too far in the other direction, you
 know? >>

Hey To All,
Hmmm Laura Lee, a dress and stockings everyday? That sounds kind of uncomfy
to me! Now I don't go around dressing like fellas but can't say that I do the
dress and stockings everyday either. Those sounds like Sunday Church or
special event clothes to me. Don't think it is a matter of going too far in
a dressing direction as much as the times have just changed. It was much
more prevalent to where dresses and stockings everyday back in the 50's and
early 60's for women. There was a time when women didn't where pants to
which this was the time my grandmother lived. It wasn't until in her late
life and the changing of times and generations that she even bought a pair of
women's pants (ahem "slacks").

When I look back when I become Aunt Bee's age, don't think I will have deemed
my attire as silly, not even on my blue jean days! Okay from time to time I
where overalls but you can even gussey them up to look feminine! LOL It's
all in accessorizing! Don't think I could ever envision me going to wearing
stockings every day of my life, why I would be spending more time on how
uncomfy I am rather than enjoy what the good Lord gave me to enjoy!

My two cents...just add it to Opie's piggy bank.
Back to the pickle watch,
Sandi

I love the TVLand commercial for the Barney Fife Video Game - it looks
really exciting - especially when you get to the fourth level and get
to walk Thelma Lou to church!!

Just wanted to say that my all time favorite color episode is the one
with Howard doing the stand-up comedy routine. I think that is one of
the funniest color or black & white episodes I've ever seen. I really
like his stuff about Aunt Bee and Clara. It's funny to see that side
of Howard's character and to see him poke a little fun at a couple of
the town matrons.

Subject: Colored Episodes, What Happened?

Well, there I was with a bucket of chicken and a can of Dr. Pepper in hand,
all ready to chomp and gulp down, and
watch another colored episode of Andy, when--whoop, I'm back in black and
white land. What Happened? Did TVLand learn that Laura Lee Hobbs was
finally receiving and therefore conspired that I mustn't get the colored
shows
lest I might finally see the one episode I have never seen before in my
life, the one where Aunt Bee learns to fly a plane? Or, are they just
flipping things around over there?
Either way, didn't really mess my dinner up 'cause "Man Hunt" was a good
show. Sure am enjoying being up to snuff with you guys. But I do hope I
haven't missed the Aunt Bee and the plane thing. Was really looking forward
to that one.
"Andy, this is big!" bigger than a dime store, bigger than a gold truck,
bigger than just about anything, getting them Andy's, now that's BIG,
Laura Lee Hobbs

Subject: Jack makes the scene, man

I was telling my wife and step-daughter (yes, I'm an evil stepfather)
about
Jack Nicholson's two appearances on Andy after noticing the episode about
the lost baby on the schedule this week.
They were both unsure of my sanity when I told them this. Surely some
substance had taken hold of my mind. Jack Nicholson on the Andy Griffith
Show? No, I was merely sipping a Bud Lite over dinner at a local hashhouse
as I relayed this tale. It's one of the show's stranger moments, in
retrospect.
I wonder how many other Academy Award winners appeared on Andy? And I
wonder if Jack ever thinks of his two appearances on the show? They were
filmed at the same time he was doing some experimental films, which led to
Easy Rider.
Andy and Big Jack in the same scene. Wow. It still seems wild after all
this time.
If only there had been shots of Dennis Hopper and Goober. Peter Fonda and
Floyd. The mind reels ...
    Peace, love and Andy always,

    tom in Whitefish, Montana

Larry Ragsdale's mention of the Don Knotts/Tim Conway appearance in Myrtle
Beach reminded me that maybe nobody had sent any of the tour schedule in to
the Digest. The four dates of the mini-tour are:
July 20: Myrtle Beach, SC
Sept. 23: New Brunswick, NJ
Sept. 24: Kitchener, Ontario
Oct. 10: Minot, ND

Also, in case it hasn't been posted, Jim Nabors is not only singing at the
Indy 500 this year, but he's the Grand Marshal (for the first time).

Subject: Mayberry Event: Cullman, AL on Saturday May 13th

Hey folks,

I wanted to let y'all know that there'll be a "Come Home to Mayberry" event
going on this Saturday (May 13th) at the Cullman Civic Center from 5-8pm in
Cullman, AL. This isn't a "big" event as there will be no actual cast
members there but I can tell you that it is a lot of fun and it'll only cost
you $5 to get in. That includes hot dogs, coke, and moon pies to eat.

There will be a Bluegrass Band playing, Mayberry Trivia contest, Opie
Look-a-Like contest, Whistlin' contest, and they'll have a Mayberry patrol
car Replica there for ya'. "Floyd" will be there and "Charlene Darlin" (she
looks a LOT like her).

If you come dressed like a Mayberry Character...it's a $1 off your admission.

The Cullman Esquire Club, American Classics and several others are sponsors.
If you're in the area.....drop in and say "Hey."

Allan "Floyd" Newsome
