I don't remember the exact conversation (though I'll bet there's some great
quotes from it) but I always tried to imagine what Juanita looked like. I
have an idea for a great plot for the Mayberry movie - Juanita comes back to
town after living a wild life in the big city of Raleigh, and she tries to
steal Barney away from Thelma Lou! Who do you think would be a good Juanita?
She will have to be kinda sexy, but of course, have a good heart underneath
it all. Maybe the girl who played Charlene on Designing Women! And say, who
would play Barney's kids? Maybe one of his sons would be in love with Andy's
daughters. Or ...

Anybody else got any ideas? I know we all have our reservations about there
actually being a movie, but who else but us could write it?

<< Here's another of my favorite quotes, said by Barney in "A Date for
Gomer":
"I'm not gonna stand in no stag line with old Mr. Perkins and a bunch of
 slumped over teenage boys!"
  >>

And that's just a line or two away from one of my all-time favorites..., also
by Barney..."Man spends money gettin' his suit spotted and pressed, takes two
hours polishing his hat, and for what? Heartaches!"

Hi gang. Hey, in light of the recent discussion about race, I was going
to just write and say "remember rule 2 and play nice" but I had to
comment, that with the way TAGS was filmed in the 60's all the
characters were "Black and White" on my set--LOL

Along with that a quick fun note. I had the pleasure last friday to
talk by phone and interview Clarence Gilyard. He is Ranger Trivette on
Walker Texas Ranger, but most memorable to us, he was Conrad McMasters
for four years on Andys "Matlock" series, playing the investigator. He
is one of the nicest people I have ever talked to, and was in the area
for the Indy 500 weekend. I asked him if he ever hears from Andy
anymore, and he said "no" unfortunately, and really enjoyed the
opportunity he had to work with him on the series. Well, happy June
everyone, and oh yeah, anybody hear from our good friend Harv Bullock
lately. Seems most of the episodes I've caught recently were his
BRILLIANT work. Absolutely one of the finest writers ever to work for
our pleasure!!

On TAGS, he was definitely called BOBBY Fleet. If I'm right, he was on three
episodes. The episode where Jim Lndsey joined the Band With A Beat; the
episode where Jim Lindsey left and rejoined the Band With A Beat; and the
episode where the Band With A Beat impersonated the Mayberry marching band
so they could go to the state Capitol.

By the way, not only was it amazingthat Jim Lindsey could get two and even
three electric guitar sounds to come from his acoustic guitar, the drummer
could get jail-cell bars to sound like a full set of Ludwigs with cymbals.

"One of them seemed to have something on his chin..."

Nutsy "Citizen's array-est! Citizen's array-est!"

Bobby Fleet appeared in two first season episodes, "The Guitar Player" and
"The Guitar Player Returns." He was played by two different actors. In
later episodes, instead of "Bobby Fleet and his Band with a Beat,"
Mayberry's favorite band became "Freddy Fleet and his Band with a Beat."

Perhaps Bobby and Freddy are brothers. Or, maybe the writers just forgot
what name they had used before. With so many episodes being written on such
a tight schedule by so may different writers, it was inevitable that little
inconsistencies would slip in.

**HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDY GRIFFITH!!!
Today is Andy's 74th birthday and I know all of us wish him MANY more returns
of the day.

**BACK IN STOCK
Just a little note to let you know that Weaver's now has back in stock the
"Andy Griffith: An American Original" CD. Included are The Andy Griffith
Show theme song and "The Fishin' Hole" (the theme song with Andy Griffith
singing the seldom-heard words). This compilation contains some of Andy
Griffith's best-loved comedy routines and tunes, such as "Romeo and Juliet,"
"Hamlet," "Swan Lake," "Carmen," "Midnight Special," and his biggest hit
of all, "What it Was, Was Football." To beat it all, it's at a lower price
than ever...$15.

**NEW Mayberry Tin Coin Bank
It's not exactly the Mayberry Security Bank, but this new coin bank is pretty
darn cute. It's made of tin, shaped like a TV set, and measures 3"x3"x3"
(not including legs and handle). On the screen of the TV is a familiar closeup
of Andy, Barney, Opie, and Gomer in color. The body of the coin bank is
light blue with little puffs of white that look like clouds. (The design is
essentially a miniature version of the tin lunch box, but with a different
photo image on the front and a coin slot.) Barney wouldn't care for the safety
of this bank, though. It doesn't have a lock or even a latch. It just
closes. Definitely a bank for honest folks, but Barney would surely agree that
it's a super-cool collectible. (Mr. Cookie Bar not included.)

**Don Knotts-Tim Conway Tour Info
July 20, Alabama Theater in Myrtle Beach, SC
Sept. 23, State Theater, New Brunswick, NJ
Sept. 24, Center in the Square, Kitchener, Ontario
Oct. 10 Norsk Festival, Minot, ND

Right now that's all the information we have on the Knotts-Conway tour. You'll
need to call the theater in your area for more info.

Hey To All,
Just sitting here quietly enjoying the change over to summer. Well I declare
it is a might hot for the beginning of summer! Why is this popping up over
and over in my newsletter? It takes up SO much space in between the
postings...

wbmutbb= Who's Been Messing Up The Bulletin Board

talk= The Andy Griffith Show and how the fans fondly remember, wanting to
discuss it

who am I?= I am a TAGS fan who grew up on the show and who has meet some
very nice people in this section of Mayberry.

Hmmm...didn't you sign up for the newsletter or is this being sent to someone
who doesn't like the show by mistake?

Back to the Pickle Stash,
Sandi

Just so everybody will know, this note was a mistake by a new member here at
WBMUTBB. She didn't realize that the WBMUTBB Digest was what she signed
up for but it's all cleared up now. Y'all be sure to say Hey to all our new
members when I send out their bio's every few weeks.

Thanks for the feedback Dixon! In looking back
through
the past digests, I could find no ill will being
directed at TAGS for the lack of people of color, but
lordy, the comments that came in make me want to get
sozzled! No Asians on Hogan's Heroes? How many were
in Germany during WWII? I love light and airy, but
I DO NOT want to bury my head in the sand and hope all
will be well on the morrow! let's hope this bud stays
nipped!

by the by old friend, Juanita's the waitress at the
Truck Stop; Sarah's the operator (and no one flirts
with Sarah!)
Love with a bullet in my pocket,
Darryl

Howdy to you and yours(again)!
The "pickle" episode was on TV Land last night, and
my wife made a very interesting comment:
We all remember when Aunt Bea first appeared on TAGS
she was meeting Opie for the first time.. Along comes
the pickle episode and Clara Johnson/Edwards states
that she's been winning the pickle contest for 11
years straight, and that she's beaten Bea all 11
years!
But Bea wasn't there, was she? Comments?

TAGS is still the "CATS"!

p.s. The marmalade epilogue to the pickle story is a
classic!
