Haven't seen it posted yet - so here goes...

Happy birth day to THE MAN !!!!! Our MAN - Andy Griffith...
This is a short bio posted today on IWON.com

Andy Griffith (1926): Actor who originally wanted to be an opera singer.
Upon graduating college, Griffith went on the road with his wife, performing
musical numbers and comedic monologues. His most famous monologue was
called, "What It Was Was Football." In 1954, Griffith appeared on the "Ed
Sullivan Show" and appeared in the TV movie and Broadway production of, "No
Time for Sergeants." From 1959 to 1960, Griffith was a regular with Don
Knotts on "The Steve Allen Show." After an appearance on the sitcom, "Make
Room for Daddy," CBS decided to give Griffith his own show, aptly titled,
"The Andy Griffith Show." Griffith’s show had a successful eight-year run
and he became the executive producer of the spin-off, "Mayberry, R.F.D."
which ran from 1968 to 1971. From 1986 to 1992, Griffith starred in another
popular television series, "Matlock." He continues to act, and appeared as a
villain in the 1996 Leslie Nielsen film, Spy Hard.

Have a great week,

Hey folks,

I was just noticing that Aunt Bee's Online Cookbook (ABOC) hasn't had too many
new recipies in a LONG time so that made me think that most of you
might not even know about it.

http://www.tagsrwc.com/interactive/cookbook/

There's the URL for the ABOC and there are some GOOD recipies there folk folks
to use. I'm sure that you good folks might have others that you could
share with us as well. If you have a good recipie to share or if you want to
find a good one, be sure to drop by.

You can also get to ABOC from the TAGSRWC web site by looking under the
"INTERACTIVE" heading in the left hand menu frame.

 Howdy to you and yours(again)!
The "pickle" episode was on TV Land last night, and
my wife made a very interesting comment:
We all remember when Aunt Bea first appeared on TAGS
she was meeting Opie for the first time.. Along comes
the pickle episode and Clara Johnson/Edwards states
that she's been winning the pickle contest for 11
years straight, and that she's beaten Bea all 11
 years!
But Bea wasn't there, was she? Comments >>
Please keep in mind that TAGS was escapist entertainment, and i dont think
they
were too worried about historical accuracy sometimes.TAGS is the kinda show
that
is best, i feel, to jus sit back and enjoy the escape. dont get too hung up
on the
small stuff............BRanDon :)

I saw in an interview once that they almost showed Juanita at the diner on an
episode. Andy VERY MUCH said no. He always thought it was better for her (and
Sarah over at the switchboard) to be a unique image in everybody's mind.
Instead he called and asked Mavis Neff out. He did it to make Helen jealous
when the new principal was visiting and dominating her time. It worked!!!

A far as the black issue in Mayberry goes, and also Amos n' Andy, Redd Foxx
once said about the removal of Amos n' Andy from TV that when he was growing
up in St. Louis, he actually knew people in his neighborhood just like
them!....and he had no problem with the show.....it was true life for him
and his surroundings.
Hope this ain't gettin' too far out of line!!.........

Thanks,
Tom

Thank you for the above information. It's been so long since I've seen the
Jim Lindsey episodes that I didn't remember the bandleader being called
Bobby in them. However, I'm afraid you are mistaken concerning the episode
about the Mayberry band. His character was definitely called Freddie (or
Freddy) in that one.

I haven't heard anything about that and if it IS true you can rest assured that
we'll find out. In doing searches on the major news sites on the web,
there is no mention of anything about Andy so let's figure it's just a rumor
and let's not help it spread.

I saw the episode this a.m. where the Taylors got back from Hollywood and
Johnny Coons was at the bus stop to welcome them home. Also, Laura Lee in
this same episode, the mystery lady you were asking about a few months ago
played a manicurist in the beauty shop - it's the longest I've ever seen
her on screen. Since no one knows her name maybe we could just call her
Johnetta Coons...

Subject: Andy's First Wife, What Happened?

Miss Poovey asked some good questions about Andy's first wife, little
Opie's mother, like how do you suppose he met her, what about HER family,
etc.
Well, of course, I can't be 100% sure, but I got out my bucket, and here
comes my idea.
I think that just maybe she was a gypsy. You know, she was a part of those
roving bands of gypsies that come through Mayberry every now and then. That
would explain why she and Andy didn't know each other in school, and it
could explain why her family is never mentioned on the show. Maybe her folks
didn't approve of her marriage, and disowned her,
and they don't even know about baby Opie.
See, Andy was just getting over Sharon DeSpain (?), and a band of gypsies
came through, and he took one look at this dark haired beauty and forgot all
about "I want to be a big fish in a big pond" Sharon.
And I personally think he still has a thing for gypsies. Remember when
Mayberry was in a drought, and some came through promising they could make
it rain? Well, Andy was tight with Helen, but one beauty flirted with
Andy, and, though he tried to act like he didn't enjoy it, I think
the man enjoyed it all right! 'Course, as good looking as that girl was
there would have been something wrong with Andy if he hadn't.
Take it for what it's worth. It's just my bucket thoughts.
Barney to Andy: "The thing about gypsies is, they're moody."
Laura Lee Hobbs, gold truck watcher, dime store clerker, and lover of
gypsies everywhere (I'm not sure, but I think I may have a bit of gypsie
blood in me, 'cause I sure like to roam around, singing songs, and doing
my little dance.)
