I was wondering if anyone knew how old Jim Nabors was on his last birthday, June 12. With Andy's heart scare, it just reminds us how thankful we are to the good Lord for Jim to have had his liver transplant and to have had a full recovery. Another thing, as long as we are talking about Miss Rosemary also being the wife of the prospective home buyer in another episode, remember that she also played the wife of Otis' brother. Remember the producers never heard of re-runs when they made these shows and they didn't think we would remember the actors from one week to another. I think Allan Melville was on TAGS seven times!! See ya, Nancy from Texas ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jun 2000 09:26:01 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: The Term "Ought" In a message dated 6/17/00 12:12:11 AM Central Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: << Anybody remember that? Also, they used to talk about "back in ought-one". Think anybody will start using that one again? :] >> Hey To All This Fine Weekend! My grandmother was from Niagra Falls, NY and my grandfather was from Canada. I remember as a little girl going up to their wonderful house and my Grandmother would always use the word "ought" instead of zero. As I was trying to learn "New Math", the term always used to throw me off my line of thinking as I would remember she was talking about zero. I think she used that term up through the 80's when she departed from us. Was it just a sign of the times when she grew up and the difference of the 60's? I myself use the term "zero" and every rare time I hear "ought", I have found memories of my times with my Grandparents and childhood. Last I heard, they haven't decided what to call this decade. There was a radio show taking terms but I don't think there was ever a conclusion here. "M" years...plain ole 2000...hmmm I don't see why "ought" CAN'T be used.... Where IS my bucket? Anyone want a pickle for their Sunday Dinner? Jim Hady >> Hey To All, Yes Scott, that's what they are but thought I would add they are the Hanes Beefy-T shirts....GOOD shirts! They have the chapter and barney logo on the front and on the back is the Bulletin Board with messages, a sheriffs badge, jail key ring and a fishin' hook. They are just swell Scott! So is the mousepad! It was to warm when I ordered to think of sweatshirts so I didn't order one. Seeing the new bulletin board, I should have had forsight to fall which is around the corner! The shirts are worth EVERY penney Scott! Back To The Pickle Stash! Joe, may I add one more episode to your list? It just hit my memory as I was reading your posting... I am sure one of my fine neighbors here can help me out and put an episode title with the episode...it escapes me at the time... Remember the episode where Opie and Andy had been out in the boat and she had a hole in it and sunk? The hauled it to the bank and docked her. When Andy gets in town, the FBI men are there on a manhunt. They try to snuff Andy and Barney out of the case in front of Opie. The Posh Puff moment for me is when Opie steps up and tells the FBI man that his paw is the best sheriff and he can capture the escapee. It just breaks my heart to see Andy what the FBI man thinks of small town lawmen kicked around in front of Opie's eyes. It's his PA afterall! I never cooked them until seeing Bee and Briscoe eat them, and they do indeed "twang the buds." Thank you, Scott Boyd >> Scott, Where you been? Ha ha...We've only been talking about the Chapter t-shirts since the end on March. There aren't too many left because I didn't order but about 10 extra tees (enough to make the order come out even). If you want one, go to: http://members.aol.com/anewsome/private/wbmutbbtshirt.htm You'll see the design and the order form for ordering the remaining tees and/or the mousepads. I'm glad to hear folks are liking the new design and I'd like to thank WBMUTBB member Dennis Atkins ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) for doing the design work and sending me the artwork that the folks that made shirts used. I'd also like to thank Jan for doing all the leg work. Y'all doing forget all the great tshirts and stuff you can get at Weaver's. They have a new "Pink Floyd" and a "Pipe Down, Otis!" tees that are great. I just got mine & they are great. Also, my wife & daughter & I just returned from a wonderful trip to Mt. Airy where we stayed in Andy Griffith's boyhood home & it was WONDERFUL!!!!! We felt so at home and really hated to leave, it was like staying in someone elses home & they weren't there, it was great fun & the folks that run it do an outstanding job. We had lunch and breakfast at Snappy Lunch, saw the grave of the Siamese Twins, and much more, we even got to stay at the Mayberry Motor Inn and visit with L.P. & Alma Venable, they are wonderful people. Can't wait til Mayberry Days 2000. Aunt Bee of Orlando Sorry Aunt Bee of Orlando- but you are wrong on more than one count. =20 =46irst, this sort of correction is not needed or appreciated by me. Please stop. This is an Andy Griffith list, and while we all have agreed to be nice to each other and follow the spirit of Mayberry, this is not a forum to discuss "OUR" Lord or "OUR" religion - as if each of us are required to follow the same teachings. Secondly, your correction makes no sense. The origins for gee whiz and geez are exactly the same - so what's your point? Check out your word origins and you'll find this: >The words "Gee" and "Geez" are a substitute for Jesus, "Gee Whiz" for = Jesus' whiskers, "Golly" is for God, as is "Gosh," and, "Gor" and = "be'Gor" (by God) are more common in England, and are a substitute for = God.=20 >Origin of: >Gee whizz=20 >------------------------------------------------------------------------= - -------- >A minced oath. Please excuse me if I've stepped on your toes here. I think we're both on the same side, but I also think you deserved a "rude" on this one. Remember, some folks in Mayberry might have celebrated Mohammed's birthday and sometimes you can only tell people's religions by their holidays.
