Miss Poovey, you'll see Howard's mother all over the place. She was played by
Mabel Albertson, who was almost typecast as the guilt-inflicting,
headache-ridden mother on so many shows. She also played Don Hollinger's
mother on "That Girl", Rob Petrie's mother on "The Dick Van Dyke Show", and is
perhaps best remembered for being Darrin's mother, Phyllis Stephens, on
"Bewitched". She once repeated her signature line from "Bewitched"--"I think
I'm getting a headache"--on an episode of TAGS...

Subject: Mayberry Days Tickets

Mayberry Days Tickets are still available thru Surry Arts Council for every
event except Col. Tim's & 7pm Doug Dillard Concert. Due to the demand for
these tickets, you can put your name on a growing waiting list and hope for
the best, or take advantage of the just added shows at the Downtown Cinema
on Friday and Saturday night.

Friday Night at 7pm - Michael Hoover in "Memories of Elvis"
($10)......Michael Hoover is a big fan of TAGS and is a wonderful performer
on stage. He sang at Col. Tim's the past 2 years and there are plenty of
WBMUTBB members that can attest to how good he is.

Saturday Night at 7:30pm - "Smoke on the Mountain" ($10).....This is a very
popular musical performed by the Surry Arts Players that has all the musical
flavor of TAGS.

Both of these events will be very entertaining, so please consider them.
You can get more information on all the events at Mayberry Days (ticket
order forms, phone numbers, details) on their webpage at www.surryarts.org.

Jeff Koontz

p.s. There will be 2 pair of tickets for Col. Tim's in the WBMUTBB Silent
Auction, so you have yet a third option for Saturday night. We are hoping
these will be popular items in the bidding.

I saw an interview with Andy in the early 70's. At that point, Burns and
Shreiber were a very hot item appearing on: Ed Sullivan, Tonight Show,
Laugh-In, and others. But ratings tell the story. Although Warren was Floyd's
nephew, he just didn't fit into Mayberry and didn't want to change his
routine as the producers desired. I was glad when he finally left the show.
Then Ange never had another deputy!

It was the episode where the young woman who was the "daughter" of Jackie
Coogan, (Uncle Fester) tried to sue Barney for not marrying her. When Andy as
the Justice of the Peace started the ceremony, the enraged woman said,"Do you
think I really want to marry this squirt?" Then in the epilogue, it was the
last thing Andy said to Barney and then walked out of the office while Barney
followed complaining!

Barney added the joke that made the scene so funny when the little old lady
was arrested for shoplifting. Andy said,"little old ladies ought not to
clank." Then Barney chimes in,"especially when they're headed for the clink."
Barney even cracked up himself in that episode!

Besides being Howard's mother, she also was Darren Stevens mother on
Bewitched. I think she just went from show to show being the resident bi- -
- -. She certainly was good at it!

OK, Allan,

I confess, with us moving, I haven't paid as much attention as I should
have....Where and when in Ohio is this Military Rendezvous our mentioned in
today's Bulletin Board. Feb is going to be in Ohio on Sunday, Monday, and
Tuesday Morning, and maybe she will be close enough to come see you and
bring her Sister and her Aunt.

Regarding the fella who thought they cut the "quality of mercy" speech from
the "Ernest T. goes into the army" episode the other night --
I believe Barney makes that terrific speech in the "Dogs dogs dogs" episode,
which also includes the memorable "giraffes are selfish" soliloquy. You got
two episodes mixed up.
Which is perfectly easy to do when you consider all the classic lines we have
to remember from that show ...
MrsLesch
P.S. My husband bought a truck over the weekend. You can imagine the fun
we're having -- "everybody back on the truck!"

That link will take you directly to Sarah's Chatroom. Folks are on there at
night around 8 or 9 pm but there's not really a scheduled time.

Maybe what we'll do is schedule a time for us to have a WBMUTBB meeting at
Sarah's? That sounds like it'd be fun. I'll try and arrange one for July.

Hellooo Dolll.....

Mrs Sprague was also Mrs Stevens, Samantha's mother in law in Bewtiched.
That actress must have been typecast, because she was the same type of
overbearing, overprotective mother to an only son in Bewtiched.

>>what famous Mayberry landmark does Captain Kirk and Edith Keeler walk by
in "1930's Chicago"?
>>
>>Why that would be Floyd's Barbershop! I think I also remember Foley's
grocery popping up along with the TV repair shop >>(redubbed Radio Repair,
since that episode took place in the 1930s).

The answer is correct; however, at no time were they said to be in Chicago.

This makes a good trivia question to ask Star Trek "experts." Nearly all of
them will say Kirk and Spock were in New York City, but the fact is that the
city is never mentioned in the episode. Thanks to Floyd's Barber Shop, we
know they were in Mayberry!

Downtown Mayberry can also be seen in the Star Trek episode "Miri."

Helloooo Dollllll,
Boy was I surprised to actually find a website for Jean Carson!!!! It is at
www.hellodoll.com (what else) I was even more surprised to find out that
she graduated from Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon, aka CMU) my employer.
I bet if I do some digging, I could find out if she graduated with any
other famous actors, since the drama school here is known to produce stars.

What a hoot!!!!! I was looking for pictures and found a treasure chest!!!
