I was just watching my tape of "The Gay Deceiver" and I could not help
commenting on Andy's explanation of why he had his little brother Opie. He
said he was lonesome while growing up so Dad and his mother decided to have
another child so he would have someone to play with. He would have had to
be in his late 20s when little brother was born. Certainly he didn't need
a little brother to play with then. If Madaline believed that explanation,
then she qualifies as a "Dumb Crook". She also seemed to go to an awful
lot of trouble and expense (renting that expensive Lincoln) and traveling
all the way to Mayberry just to take old Floyd for a few hundred.

> In the episode where Barney buys some Gypsy fortune telling stuff, the
name of the spirit invoked was "Countess Van Telecki". Now, "Countess" is a
feminine term, but Barney refers to the spirit as a "He"! Is this a mistake,
or have I been celebrating too much with the sisters' elixer?
>>>
Maybe that elixir has affected your hearing. It's not Countess Van Telecki,
it's Count Istvan Telecki. "Istvan" is the Hungarian form of "Stephen."

>Hey to all.....I have a question about an episode I've never heard but
someone asked me about today...here goes... Is there an >episode where
Barney burns down a bridge????
No, the only TAGS episode in which a structure burns down is "Keeper of the
Flame," in which moonshiner Jubal Foster accidentally burns down his own
barn.
This brings to mind a funny story. The writers once (I think Fritzell and
Greenbaum were behind this) played a practical joke on producer Aaron Ruben
by writing a script in which Andy was to battle a huge forest fire, and also
a dam was to burst (of course, it would be completely impossible to FILM
such a story.) They gave him the script, and then waited outside his door.
A few minutes later, they heard him shout, "WHAT? A DAM BURSTS, AND THEN A
FOREST FIRE?!?!" I'll bet the whole crew got a good laugh out of it.

Did you know that Mabel Alberston (Howard Sprague's mother) was the
mother-in-law of Cloris Leachman? In her later years when she was ill, Cloris
took care of Mabel until her death.

Steve I do believe you've been having a little taste. I have always
thought that the spirit's name was Count Izvan Telecki. I dn't think I'm
spelling it right, but after really listening to what Barney said, I'm
pretty sure that's how you pronounce it.~the groovy misspoovey~

Was wondering if Mayberry R.F.D. was only scheduled to be shown this
Monday at 10:00 p.m. and on Tues. at 1:00 a.m. and if anyone knows which
episodes they are? Is T.V. Land only going to show them once a week at
these times?

Hey To All!
Hope everyone is having a leisurely Sunday! I was roaming around and I found
a great little trivia question for us to get our buckets out and then
discuss. There wasn't any answers that I read but there are several
episodes (rare as they might be) that one could see Aunt Bee with her hair
down out of her bun. Anyone got any ideas of which of the few episodes this
might be? Seems like I can remember one time when someone came to the Taylor
house in the middle of the night for Justice of the Peace Andy to preside
over a wedding!
Sitting on the porch, thinking about ice cream.

Hi everyone...
I've just returned from the Mayberry/Military Rendezvous 2000 and for those
of you that missed it, you missed a couple of fantastic Mayberry alumni.
Although the Rendezvous this year had a different twist on it, it was still
great. Honoring America's vetrans and military was very special, as anyone
could attest that attended the Sunday morning service. They had a very
large variety of military vehicles and numerous other things to keep the
crowds interested, including a Marilyn Monroe lookalike (thanks Kenneth and
the boys from Gordo). And of course, for the Mayberry fans, JAMIE FARR from
M*A*S*H and our own BARBARA STUART from Gomer Pyle, who both made
appearances on TAGS. They were so gracious to all of the fans and signed
anything they were asked to, including....a tank....!!
Thanks to Bob Scheib and Kenny Adams who put this together this year and of
course, to Jim Clark and Allan Newsome for keeping the spirit of Mayberry
alive.

Mr. Davenport:
What a seemingly complete list of TAGS/Dick Van Dyke characters. But
aren't you missing one? If you aren't going to make the list complete for
me, at least do it for Robie Miller. How about Jerry Van Dyke? Seems to me
he appeared on both shows. As Robie Miller's son Jerry and Rob Petrie's
brother Stacy.
Thank you and I appreciate it.
