I remember a while back we were talking about scenes that make you cry, well
I have one to add. How about when Opie becomes a Pa in the Return to
Mayberry movie. That one gets me every time. And also when Andy is
visiting Aunt Bee's Grave.

Also on the funny part of the show, how about when Gomer tells Goober that
he has just taken a picture of the ugliest thing he ever saw. Of course he
was taking a picture of the "sea monster" but Goob thought he was talking
about him. Downright funny.

Well I just wanted to add these things to the long running list.

Thanks

April

Her hair is down in the episode where Gomer becomes the Taylors'
houseguest. She comes downstairs after Gomer tries to fix the vacuum
cleaner.

Seems like I remember Aunt Bee's hair being down during the episode where
Andy & Opie get up real early to go fishing. She is fixing their breakfast.
Did I remember right???

I was watching the first Mayberry RFD episode this morning when they showed a
commercial for "Slime Worms" by Mattel. Did anyone notice who the mailman
was? It was none other than Jack Dodson (Howard Sprague) without his
mustache.

Howdy to you and yours!

I might have missed it but Ann Morgan Gilbert (Millie
Helper) also appeared on TAGS as a neighbr of the
Taylors (she must have stepped in for Clara
Edwards/Johnson). It was a "Color" episode.

Subject: Military Rendezvous Recap

Hi Y'all;

Just returned from the Military Rendezvous (formerly the Squad Car
Rendezvous).

I was very disappointed! The military stuff really took over and they put
Jim Clark and the Mayberrry stuff so far away, I thought I had walked all
the way to Toledo to see it. Not to be too negative, the highlight was the
Q an A session with the guest stars, both were gracious, funny, a nice
beyond belief. Allan did an excellent job entertaining everyone as Floyd
(you're a prince!). I agree with Rod that honoring our Military, especially
on the 4th is important, I just wish there had been more TAGS stuff there, I
sort of felt like an outcast.

Last week it was mentioned that Allan may schedule a town meeting at Sarah's
Chat Room. I say "Bravo" and hope it will be on a weekend. If you don't
know Sarahs is a linek on the web site, where some of gather in the evenings
(after 8pm EDT) and just chat about TAGS and other stuff, it's a blast! I
look forward to chattin' with everyone.

Laura Lee Hobbs here. In an interview I saw about a year ago, Andy remarked
that Don Knotts actually
had a very talented singing voice, and it was difficult for him to sing
off key when he was called to do so for those hilarious choir scenes. I
thought you'd find this interesting to know. I did, and it made sense
because I enjoyed his duets with Andy, too.
I had always recognized Leonard Blush's voice on the radio as belonging to
Ernest T., (just as Ernest T. played George the tv repair man),
but I swear I never noticed that it was anyone other than Aunt Bee pushing
that car and I've seen that episode at least 200 times! Funny the things us
trained noticers can be quick to notice and the others that can pass us by.
Now, for me, gold trucks is the thing this trained noticer is trained to
notice.

Laura Lee Hobbs here.
Did the "Dinner at Eight" episode have an epilogue? If so, would you please
be kind enough to describe it to me? I shorely would appreciate
it.

Most of your information is correct, except for the Dick Van Dyke show. The
lady who played Rob's Mother, Clara Petrie, was played by Isabel Randolph.
And just like Allan Melvin who was all over television was on DVD, and TAGS,
and Gomer, Isabel appeared on DVD as Richie's teacher once. It was the
episode where Rob was elected father of the week! But if I'm not mistaken,
she was the only one to play Rob's mother.

I saw Andy and Helen get married this a.m. and Mr. Schwump was at the
wedding - must be an old family friend. Opie was taller than Aunt Bee
and Barney was great as usual - I was also noticing how long Barney's
hair was. Maybe he started working as a vice-cop later on - kind of a
skinny Serpico.

Have a good 4th!

Subject: Barney's was a Tenor

During a Ralph Emery (sp?) interview, Andy was talking about how Don Knotts
was really a well trained tenor who had a very hard time trying to sing flat
for those infamous choir scenes of his. We know how well he and Andy could
sing those duets of theirs, and now you know why. I'm
just glad Don made the effort to sing bad because the choir episodes are
among the funniest ever made, in my opinion.
Also, I must correct myself. True, Aunt Bee was seen with her hair down in
the Justice of the Peace episode of the feuding families, but I also
guessed that her hair was down when my beloved Mr. Darling came serenading
her. Not true. She came to the window with her hair still done
up, and right now I honestly cannot think of another time we see it down.
Someone once said there were two episodes where her hair is seen down. If
this is correct, then it's thirty lashes with the wet noodle for me, and
back to the bucket! And Sandi's trivia question is still
unanswered.
Barney: "Our only crime is that we're attractive to women."--you know what,
he's right! When you consider how pretty all the girls were those boys
dated, and how the girls seem to flock to them, Barn had every right to feel
a little big headed! Laura Lee Hobbs, a small headed dime
store clerk and gold truck watcher extraordinare (nobody flocks to me)

Re: Burning Bridges

Hmmm - I might add that it was once widely believed that
Revolutionary War hero Nathan Tibbs-Phyfe (somebody later spelled
it right) - was an ancestor of Barney's. Ok, so only Barney
thought so, but what the heck.

Anyway, I can see how your friend would be confused here. We know
that Nathan Tibbs ran eight miles through the snow to set the
Mayberry Bridge on fire. A fellow that can run eight miles real
quick-like is bound to have the Fife build (from his mother's
side) - you know, wiry. =20

I understand that nothing eaten by Nathan Tibbs went to fat.

You know where it went?

That's right, ...

Muscle.

Here's a good'un

I was looking for some sources for big ole shoes on the internet
(I don't need any right now, but the kids like to use the boxes
for canoes on Myer's lake)

I came across this:

>Nashville, TN 37205=20

Shoes will help you walk free of pain by adjusting these bio-mechanics =
with the correct application of footwear.

It appears that Charley O'Malley really did have a father-in-law
in the Orthopedic Loafer business. In Nashville, no less.

Makes ya thank - eh? Maybe somebody (Fritzell or Greenbaum?)
besides Otis had too much feet for his shoes.
