I really enjoyed the wedding of Andy and Helen last nite on TV
LAND! My wife noticed something peculiar though. When they had the
ceremony and Andy gave Helen her ring why did Helen not give Andy a
ring?? Later on they had a shot of them together in a hotel I think and
Andy did not have a ring on! Just wondering.

That episode was scheduled to run at 9pm central, 10 eastern (I taped an
earlier feed at 9am as well). The wedding scene was the third scene in the
episode (the first two took place at Andy's bachelor party). It's quite
possible the control room operator ran the wrong episode that time (the
second episode was also scheduled to run Monday at a different time).
Recheck your tape and see if Aunt Bee is trying to get used to farm life,
trying to gather eggs, getting spooked by cows, etc.

Hey To All!
I saw this episode at the 9p(CT) showing of Maryberry RFD on TVLand last
night. The wedding was pretty close to the beginning. We first saw Andy's
"batchelor party" then we are in the church. Aunt Bee was getting her Posh
Puffs ready, Opie kept saying "Aww Aunt Bee you aren't going to cry are
you?", Barney was both beaming with happiness and fumbling around for the
ring and Helen came down the isle with her father. She had only a matron of
honor and it got me to thinkin'... if she and Thelma Lou were such good
girlfriends, then why wasn't Thelma Lou in the wedding party? Then Aunt Bee
moved on to the farm to deal with Irma the cow and the chickens. I had
never seen this episode, so was happy to see the wedding.

I happened to catch "The Wedding" episode at 10p.m. Monday (July 3rd) on
TVland, quite by accident, as I didn't even know it was going to be aired. It
was the first time I'd ever seen it since watching TAGS, so it came as a
pleasant surprise. The actual wedding scenes occurred in the first 15 minutes
of the episode, and the part where Barney accidentally holds Andy's hand at
the altar (instead of Helen) was a real knee slapper!
Sounds like your VCR may have been programmed for the wrong day, time, or
channel Mr. and Mrs. Henderson. If you'd stayed up until 1 a.m. (eastern),
you might have caught the wedding again - as TVland rebroadcasts the episodes
aired earlier in the evening. Suggest you check TVland's website to see
if/when they will broadcast it again.

>Just a note to those of you who search eBay or other auction sites for
Mayberry stuff. Recently, I learned if you typed it different ways,
different items came up. Like The Andy Griffth Show, Andy Griffith,
Mayberry, Don Knotts.... Well you get the idea.

>>>

Here's another tip: browse for "Andy Gri* " and you'll find a lot more
stuff. You'd be amazed at the number of people who don't know how to spell
(or maybe you wouldn't.) I lot of sellers describe items as "Andy Griffin,"
"Andy Griffeth," etc. If you use the asterisk, you'll find all of these
items that you would miss if you browsed for "Andy Griffith."

There also people who seem to think Don's last name is Knox or Knots.
Browse for "Don Kno* " and you'll find more items (include "-jack" to avoid
hundreds of copies of the computer game "you don't know jack.")

While we're on the subject of spelling, I can not help but notice how many
of our own
members consistently misspell Aunt Bee's name. It is BEE, not BEA! Just
remember, It's
I before E except after C, and E after E in Aunt Bee.

Subject: What Was She Thinking?

A "What was she thinking?" scene for me was one out of the Opie fights
the Bully episode. Andy goes with Aunt Bee in the kitchen to eat a last
piece of apple pie. Aunt Bee puts this last piece of pie on a plate
and then fusses over it as if she were about to enter it in a contest!
I mean, she holds that pie up to eye level, takes a fork or knife (I can't
remember), but smooths away the edges over and over again, evens that pie
out just right, keeps eyeing it for any imperfection, and
all that's about to happen to it is that it's about to be wolfed down by
Andy! This scene ends and, if memory serves me--and Lord knows, it may
not--but, IF I remember correctly, the scene ends and Aunt Bee is still
working on that pie while Andy is just sitting there, hungry. Now, Aunt Bee
is the consummate hostess, but "What was she thinking?"
"No pie shall be served before its time in my house."
Of course, Andy was far too polite to say anything, but I've wondered
why he didn't say, "Aunt Bee, will you stop playing with that dang pie and
feed me or WHAT." But then, we know what she did to Mr. Darling with a
spoon, so perhaps he was much wiser to keep quiet.
Do any of you have a What was she/he thinking scene? I'd love to hear them.

Subject: Epilogues

All episodes have epilogues. Paul
Well, now Do They? The reason I ask is what about the band concert episode?
You know how they are sitting around the porch, Gomer says they are pooped
to the visiting Pastor, Andy asks, "What's your hurry?"
I've often wondered what the epilogue to that particular show was. I was
told that show ended with the porch scene, and a few shows did not have
the standard epilogue that most people associate with the show's ending,
although I do not know just how many other shows ended this way.
If this band concert did indeed have an epilogue, I would love to know what
it was. Laura Lee Hobbs

Subject: Andy and Helen get married

I had never seen this episode before and I couldn't help thinking as I
watched it last night that they missed a golden opportunity to have some
fun. It should have been the final episode of the Andy Griffith show and
they could have brought back the fun girls to shake up Helen or better yet,
Barney could have been brought back to spread another rumor about Helen and
Andy getting married only to have it be true this time. Perhaps the
Darlings could have played some mountain music for them. I just felt
somewhat let down after waiting all these years to see that episode.

I noticed Barney's long hair also. Maybe he was auditioning for "Miami Vice".
ha ha. Was he wearing a blazer with a T-shirt and sandals with no socks? Or
did he trade in the Edsel for a Ferrari? Just checkin'. After all, being a
lawman is in his blood!

That was a great list of people who appeared on both shows. At that time, the
dynamic duo of television was Danny Thomas/Sheldon Leonard. They both
appeared on DVD. If they found a character they liked, they used them for
several spots since after one episode, they sort of had a "feel" for Mayberry
and the south. Since we're all doing this "spottin"it must mean the show is
more than fantastic for us all to keep this close a watch after 1000 viewings.

Saw the new movie "Patriot" today; brought Independence Day history to
life. Highly recommend it to all Mayberrians even though it doesn't
mention Nathan Tibbs.
