While flipping channels the other night, I came across an episode of Gomer
Pyle USMC, and who do I see talking to Sargent Carter. Our own Ramona
Ancrum, or was it Wiley, I have heard people refer to her as both. I am not
sure of the actress' name but it was definately her. Did anyone else catch
this, and can someone tell me if her last name was Ancrum or Wiley on TAGS.
I'm almost sure that it is Ancrum. One of my Favorite episodes is My Fair
Ernest T. Bass. "it rained the other day" "Yeah I was right there in it.

I don't know if the color episodes count but Andy grabbed Warren's pistol
and shot at the counterfitters when they were trying to get away.

He shot the tire out of a station wagon full of thieves in the episode "The
Cannon". This was a Warren and Goober episode.

Okay - here's one of my favorite funny scenes from the color episodes - no
I'm not kidding - they were funny too.
Jerry Van Dyke dons a deputy uniform unbeknownst to Andy and checks out the
carnival. Two guys are fighting and he tries to break up the fight, yelling
- - "I've got a badge, I've got a badge" which is funny enough because they
ignore him. When Andy shows up and breaks up the fight, Jerry says " They
didn't see the badge". Then he tells a group of little old ladies "Okay
break if up ladies". Jerry was really funny in this episode - would have
done well as a regular on the show but not as the deputy.
Linda - I've seen Goober in color.

After posting the funny moment with Jerry Van Dyke - I'm trying to remember
if that really WAS a color episode. So.... if it wasn't I guess I get 30
lashes with a wet noodle.

>>>From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I don't know if this was every discussed before, but, I was wondering if
anyone knows the title of the Mayberry RFD theme.
>>>

In it's original form, the title was "The Mayberry March." It was used many
times on The Andy Griffith Show. Later, Earle Hagen used the same tune as
the Mayberry RFD title tune, but not in march style. I'm pretty sure at
that point he just called it "The Mayberry Theme."

BTW, the correct title of the TAGS theme is "The Andy Griffith Theme," not
"The Fishin' Hole" as many sources claim. It didn't come to be called "The
Fishin' Hole" until later. As all die-hard TAGS fans know, the lyrics were
penned by actor Everett Sloane, who played Jubal Foster in "Keeper of the
Flame."

cells had been altered. If they were, it was obviously done to facilitate
the dialogue between the characters in the two cells. So were the cells
altered to be at what appeared to be a 45( angle? Or are they always like
that and it was only accented by the camera angle and the tight shots? Just
something that's
been prayin' on my mind.

All of the walls of the courthouse set were movable, so it is possible that
the director had them repositioned slightly for that shot. Normally, there
was only a slight angle, perhaps 10 degrees or so from a straight line.

Subject: Funny Lines

I'm new around here and have been sitting back and enjoying the notes,
quotes and observations. I have to get in on the "funny lines and episodes"
discussion since this is THE topic of conversation whenever me and any of my
Andy-phile buddies get together. Here are some of my picks, in no
particular order...

**the "boy, giraffes are selfish" speech.
**both scenes where Barney is attempting to recite from memory: the preamble
to the Constitution in one episode, and the city ordinace in another
**When Barney says "All God's chillun got a uvula!" and Andy replies
"Hallelujah..."
**Same episode when Andy is teaching Barney how to sing into the "hot"
microphone. (Ever notice the couple in the background cracking up during
that scene?) (Unrelated question: is this one of the scenes Andy and Don
used to perform at Hollywood parties in the early 60's? Seems like I heard
or read that somewhere.)
**Barney making Otis hop on one foot, until he collapses into Otis' arms.
**Ernest T., as the Army doctor examines his ears: "Huuusssshhhh..."
**Barney attempting to talk to Otis while he's sleeping: "Where did you
ge-yut the liquor...?"

I could go on all night. Thanks for letting me be a part of this great
group. Lotsa luck to you and yurn!

Isn't the Mayberry RFD Theme Song the 'Mayberry March'? That song is one of
the great songs included on the new 'Songs, Themes, & Laughs from The Andy
Griffith Show' CD. Also, I thought for a long time what RFD stood for. And
now we all know. It's interesting to find out that RFD stands for (Rural Free
Delivery). From the US Postal Service.

posted it. I'm getting forgetful in my old age. I figured better safe than

At the beginning of the episode, Andy and Aunt Bee are sitting on their front
porch on a Sunday morning talking about see 4 generations of the Claude
Beeman family walk by. If I remember correctly, they completely cut out the
part where Andy said he was called plain Claude because he wasn't Jr. Sr. or
the 4th. Then the part when Aunt Bee said she thought it was because he was
homely was completely missing. Is that correct or has Alzheimers set in on me?

another great example of the superb writing on our favorite show!

I declare, Miss Poovey, that's one of the nicest things I've seen in a
long time! I don't have WebTV myself, but for you to put together a page
for our WebTV neighbors so's they can get to Sarah's and chat with the
rest of the folks, well, it's just a real "Mayberry" thing to do. You beat

I agree with Dan, that Poor Horatio scene between Andy and Opie is the
greatest! Another scene that always leaves me laughing is the one from
"Opie Loves Helen", featuring Barney and Opie. The phone call to Miss
Crump from the courthouse, with Barney feeding Opie lines from T.Jonathan
Osgood's "Poems of Romance" is hysterical!

Doug "Rafe Hollister" Garretson

"Opie, who's there with you?"
"She wants to know who's with me."
"Tell her nobody."
"Barney says nobody."

Maybe I haven't been noticing like I should, but it suddenly hit me that I
was seeing camara angles from inside the store fronts shooting out into the
street at 40 Acres. I had always assumed these were just fake fronts where
you couldn't do actual inside camera work. I particularly remember shots
from inside Floyd's looking out into the street. And these weren't just
window shots, we had actors and action going on inside the shop. Anybody
got any info?
