Did Peggy (Joanna ?) ever act in anything else? >> Hey To All! Miss Peggy was played by JoAnna Moore. She was in numerous television shows and in several movies, including "Son Of Flubber". If I am not mistaken, she was also married at one time to Ryan O'Neal and the mother of Tatum and Griffin O'Neal. If I am wrong on this, I am holding my bucket in my hand to put it on my head! Sincerely, Mark [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Jul 2000 16:46:12 -0500 From: "Wendy Phillips" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Favorite scene Undoubtedly for me, the best scene in all of TAGS is the church scene in Sermon for Today. You can tell Andy, Barney, and the writers drew from actual experience. I can remember as a kid, sitting in church, trying to do anything to keep occupied. I never caught flies like Opie, but I fiddled with this and that. I counted ceiling tiles or looked at the spackling design like Andy did, thought I knew the words to the 2nd verse of the hymn and had to look back at the book. I've been so sleepy before that it made my head hurt like Barn's and my eyes droop like Gomer's. Thank goodness I never snored, but you know how it is when you sort of drift off and then wake up - - you shift your eyes back and forth just to see if anyone saw you! Of course, the climax is when Rev. Brean yells "What's your hurry?" When I watch that scene, I'm never in too big of a hurry to rewind it 10-12 times! Thelma Lou Fife ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Jul 2000 17:55:40 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Ange's Girlfriends I gotta say Peggy was my favorite. Helen was too testy, haha Ellie, was still a spoiled brat from Father Knows Best, and there was the almost wanna be girlfriend, Mary, the nurse.. wasn't she a nurse? trying to give Rafe Hollister a shot. Peggy had class and Andy was a snob... wouldn't date a rich girl.. go figure. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Jul 2000 18:09:36 -0400 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [none] In reply to Ben, I've always been partial to Peggy too. I liked all the girls Andy dated, well maybe not Mavis Neff, she was rather forward; but I especially cottoned to Miss Peggy. I read somewhere that Andy was self-admittedly easily intimidated by women and considering how very attractive and charming Joanna Moore was I'll bet she was a real challenge for him. I saw her in an old movie about some disaster on either a ship or zeppelin, don't remember. It's a shame we didn't see her in more things as she seemed to be a good actress. And thanks to Mrs. Lesch for her daughter's quote about the keys; I loved it! But I did hear that Griffith was always most comfortable with Helen/Aneta Corsaut. I'm not sure why that is. I do like Helen but she seemed to have an awfully short fuse. So did Thelma Lou. There were episodes in which they'd seem to blow up at the least little thing, but then there were episodes in which you could easily see why Ange and Barn loved them so much... Now I got to wondering about something the other night...do you suppose the writers on Happy Days drew inspiration from "The Fun Girls" episode when they dreamed up "Laverne & Shirley" ? Cos I sure do see a resemblence! I'm speaking of when the girls were first introduced as dates for Ritchie and Fonzie. And speaking of the fun girls, wasnt it a hoot to see the way Aunt Bee snatchd Opie back into the kitchen, out of the wiley clutches of those two wanton women?! And a big thank you Hi! I was watching one of the color TAGS yesterday morning when I noticed Asa the bank guard playing a doctor! I kinda had to giggle at the thought of the guy with a big ball of tin foil and leaving his gun in the rain diagnosing Andy's cold. It was a good episode with Aunt Bea, Goober, Howard, and Emmet. I guess after Barney's departure they had to depend alot more on "ensemble situations" to keep the show fresh and funny. It sure must have worked considering the show ended in the #1 slot in 1968. Also: I just wanted to thank Harriet, Janet, and Paul for their insights on my question concerning Aneta and Betty. I really have enjoyed reading everyone's insights into TAGS. Thanks Allan for all your hard work. This little corner of Mayberry is real nice to visit. This was many years ago - even before he was Sam the Butcher. His face was so very familiar but not associated with any one character that I thought for a moment he was someone I should know and speak to from out of my past somewhere. I did not know his name at the time and gave my show business trivia expert (my younger sister) the job of finding it out for me. Every time I have seen him in anything since, I feel as if I am watching an old friend. My earliest memories of him come from "Sergeant Bilko".
