Member Janet Anderson was correct in responding that one was "A Singer in Town", which was episode no. 189. In that one, Aunt Bee and Clara were discussing the song that made Keevy Hazelton famous. It was "Texarkana in the Morning". In episode no. 82, "Class Reunion", Andy and Barney were talking about testimonial ads they had seen in the back of magazines. Andy recalls one which stated "SJ of Texarkana says my spare time is a money-making proposition." ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Well, now Laura Lee Hobbs can go on to her great reward a happy woman because she has finally seen Aunt Bee fly that airplane! Not that I want you to be going anytime soon, LLH !!! I just get chills of excitement when I see the addy "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" cos I now I get to read a tidbit from the great Harvey Bullock! What a wonderful story about Don coming over to wrap Christmas presents! The spirit of Mayberry in action! To John who just came back from Mt Airy...aren't you lucky! We also stayed at the Mayberry Motor Inn. It is so cute and homey! The dark wood 4 poster bed and other bedroom furniture made me feel like I was sleeping in the Taylor's guest room. And how about that Aunt Bee room? The owner was gracious enough to let us go in and take pictures...I even held one of Aunt Bee's dresses up against me! Could almost feel her presence! And John, I hope you didn't leave Mt Airy without having a porkchop sammich at the Snappy Lunch! And for Gary whose electricity went out during "Twice As Nice" Andy this morning...no sorry, your guess was ice cold! Helen was indeed arrested on felony charges for concealed weapon, dealing cards and associating with a known gangster! What Andy later found out was that she was working undercover for info with which to write her thesis on organized crime! Unfortunately, the story got to the school board (thanks to Goober) and Helen had to go through a great deal of accusations. A good episode that shows how quick people can jump to conclusions and spread rumors! Okay, enough for me! Mum's my name, silence is my game...tick a lock! ~the groovy misspoovey~ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Aug 2000 02:14:13 -0700 (PDT) From: Rafe Hollister <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Mr. Harvey Bullock's Remembrances > Well, TV is a kaleidoscopical business. What turn of phrase! Thank you, Mr. Bullock, for sharing your memories with us here in the WBMUTBB Digest. I found myself grinning from ear-to-ear while reading your recent Digest entry. The joy and excitement you and your family experienced that magical Christmas when Don and Kaye Knotts came to visit was evident, and it got ME all excited just reading about it! Thanks for providing us with a bunch of laughs....and good times.......I sit and look at my autographed picture of Don Knotts (loading his gun) and I now know behind that tough lawman exterior lies a real human being! I tell ya, he's a treasure and a prince! It's so wonderful to have him share his experiences with us. Bless you, bless you, bless you Harvey. (Had to make my own triplet!) Just how many Hollywood writers can boast that their shows have been airing for 40 years or more? They should give a congressional medal of honor to TAGS writers. To Paul's trivia question about which song was Andy's favorite. Was it "Get Along Home Cindy Cindy"? I know he sang it on multiple episodes. I tried to send this yesterday but tried to cancel it when I realized I had not listed a subject. I'm trying to put one in instead of living with the digest #. I guess I just wasn't thinking. Anyway, I had never seen the exchange between Barney and Otis about Otis' pickled liver. I thought that was a riot. I don't think it was worth giving up Barney's giraffe speech but I wasn't consulted on that count. You would think that the folks at Nick at Nite could find a TAGS person to watch over what is cut and what is left in. One more thought. Did anyone notice in the "Dogs" episode that Barney brought his own lunch? What happened to "Miss Luncheon Tray". She fixed Otis' breakfast didn't she. Otis even threatened to take his business elsewhere if Aunt Bee quit cooking and they brought his food in from somewhere else. Reckon' Aunt Bee was mad at Andy and Barn or was she too busy cooking for a church social? My name is Lee and I have just recently moved to South Carolina. I was quite excited upon hearing that there was actually a mailing list for TAGS. I have been a fan since I was but a wee child, and I really like the idea that the concept of idealism that is "Mayberry" in essence can be transposed to the internet as well. Anyhoo, I just want to say that I have been to Mt. Airy ('Twas a few years ago), and I enjoyed it greatly. Not only is it a quaint town, but it is in a beautiful part of the country. I do have one question, though: Does anyone know how to contact the chapter nearest me? I think the closest one is in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Thanks and talk with you soon, Lee ("I don't chew my cabbage twice, fella.") ------------------------------ Date: 2 Aug 00 08:46:48 EST From: "Wilbur DuBois Jr." <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: Otis Arrest Trivia =3D Date: Tue, 01 Aug 2000 20:28:09 -0400 =3D From: Michael Burch <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> =3D Subject: OTIS TRIVIA WINNER!!!! =3D Noel Houze got the right answer on the Otis trivia question! Those eps may be when the song is done in a major way, but there are others where she's just absent-mindedly singing it. But it will take me a while because I have to watch each tape for two or three days in a row because I have to keep rewinding every time I step out of the room so as not to miss a second. And with 50 tapes, it takes me a while. (I have repeats on my tapes. If only I had Malcolm to come help me with my housework, I could be a lady of leisure and organize my tapes!) 2) Reading Harvey Bullock's messages absolutely gives me a thrill!! What a writer! "They never meet the performers who pronounce their words" - - he's so ept! We are really blessed to have Harvey reading this Digest and giving us a greater insight into behind-the-scenes-TAGS. 3) My sympathies are extended to the person who lost their animal companion. Those of us who are PLs know the sorrow one can feel when a pet dies (I just lost a favorite goat, Hilda Mae). I also know the comfort that comes from just watching TAGS. And you'll feel better when you get a new pet and the two of you are whistlin' that theme song together.
