Was watchin Gomer Pyle USMC; it was an episode where his Gramma Pyle had come for a visit. Well, Gramma looked just like Mrs Mendlebright! Hey To All! I got ready last night to pile in my bed and watch the nightly TAGS at 9p (CT) before reading until bedtime. Much to my disappointment, it wasn't on last night but a game show. Is this just during a sweeps period maybe? Where did it go? Will I get to be treated to my bedtime TAGS ever again? I felt like someone nipped my evening bedtime treat in the bud! I was lucky enough to have my Columbia House TAGS videos that I popped in but I am so disappointed...what is TVLand thinking?? Seems like there would be a more perkier time to put on this game show. Okay, done venting...hope I wasn't breaking any rules. I have the Columbia House video of this and to be honest, I never even caught this early conversation between Andy & Barney until the other day! I seem to remember that episode starting 'more or less' in the moments that follow. Perhaps it's the Columbia House tape, or I just never noticed (most likely) either way, it caught my attention! As far as the episode when Otis exclaimed he had never been arrested before, good point, and what I think we have here is simply a matter of 'episodal' error. I'm still waiting to hear who said "when I get married it's going to be to a girl just like me" - see ya'll - Michael Burch, "Which Andy Taylor Are You" Chapter, Carrboro, NC ... It ships in 4-6 weeks as soon as production is finished. Also Amazon will also have a re-release of "Private Eyes", October 10, 2000. I just don't want any Mayberrians on our list paying a high price for these two tapes currently being offered on numerous auction web sites. (Just don't want it to be anytime too soon--too many people might miss me!) But Aunt Bee was wrong! She did lots of wonderful things. Like grow an awarding winning rose, try her hand at her own business, travel to another country, have her own cooking show, entertain international guests in her home, co-write a song that was sung on TV by a famous singer, and win a houseful of prizes on a TV game show, to mention but a few of her accomplishments. Last, but not least, this lady raised a whole bunch of children, not the least of whom are our good Sheriff and his wonderful son, Opie. They'd do any mother proud. There she was living in other people's houses (and I bet not everybody treated her as kindly as our Andy did), doing what for a lot of people is a thankless job. Remember the first episode when she told Andy that she got down on her knees and thanked heaven that after all those children she had raised, she now had a place to go? She must have had, in some ways, the loneliest sort of life. Now, I'm talking about her probably being lonely before Mayberry. After Mayberry, I don't think this lady ever had a free moment to think about loneliness. But when she was much younger, and maybe living with those who didn't appreciate what she was doing for them...I can see it. But she hung in there and made a glorious life for herself. I'd never use "sweet" to describe her; she's too feisty for that. But she is good and noble and honest and generous almost to a fault. And we could all use some of that kind of raising. Laura Lee Hobbs, dime store clerk & gold truck watcher extraordinare, and a raiser three fine ones herself Opie: "What'll happen to her? She doesn't know how to fish or play baseball or anything. She's helpless." (Not really, Opie. Not really.) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Aug 2000 14:48:10 -0700 (PDT) From: Mike Zimmerman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: In defense of Aunt Bea, Bee, Be or B Hey Ya'll, Not Long ago it was mentioned that Aunt Bea was a little "bossy" with Otis in the episode of Aunt Bee the warden. Well who amongst us can recall a "bossy" relative in our past. Wheather it was an aunt, mom or whoever, and who among us can't agree that it really did us good to have some direction and disipline in our life. We did'nt appreciate it then, but in the long run it made us wonderful human beings. Just look how it turned Otis around! Besides she did make everything right with Andy and I guess thats really all that matters. So I say we just leave her Bea,Bee,Be,or B. We do hear that song in three episodes, but Andy only did it once, as I recall ("Guest in the House.") There's another episode in which he does "I'm Just a Poor Wayfaring Stranger," which is quite similar. >>>To Paul's trivia question about which song was Andy's favorite.
