Alrighty. Here's my take.
Andy didn't know everything (sorry, Opie), and often times, he'd make
something up, especially when annoying Barney or when he could get
Barney in a gullible mode. Remember, "I" before "E" except after "C"
and "N" as in chicken...Barney would also pretend to know something
but not always KNOW it ("to form a more perfect U!").
When Barney asked the question about the name of the song,
A. Barney knew the words and thus, would have known the title but
may have wanted it Correct and Andy was stating the obvious;
2. Andy may not have known the "by the book" title, but would have
told Barney the title as he knew it, as if it were fact.
Anyhow, Barney accepted the title as given and we have yet another
classic moment in comedy history.

I really don't have a clue what the answer is but gymnasts are always small
and one of the smaller TAGS people I can think of was Clarence Earp (I
don't know his real name) - he's little but he's wirey. So, that's my
third wish,
"I wish that Clarence Earp would be a champion gymnast".

Howdy everyone,
First of all, I want to say thanks to all of you for welcoming me to
Mayberry. Especially kind were Suzanne, Teresa, Hugh, and Darryl. A line from
a favorite song says "Don't see me where I'm standing, please see how far
I've journeyed".
Now for my question....does anyone know how many eps Burt Mustin appeared
in? He was one of my favorite character actors. He must have been in his
seventies or older when he appeared on TAGS. I know he was in the crowd when
Barney ticketed Gomer for that ill-fated u-turn. Does anyone know of more
episodes?

What a neat idea, Paul! Course, I always lose, but I wouldn't throw my
checker board and call my opponent a "no-count, cheatin' liar!"

Speaking of profanity relative to TAGS stars......It may be just my 47
year old ears....but I think that good 'ol Rafe Hollister (in the
episode where he gets selected for the Ladies League Musical) emits an
expletive.....that (1) was just my ears....(B) was missed by all
editors. Any way...he comes into Andy's office and Andy wants to give
him a suit of clothes (for the Musical). Andy says...."Someone that was
booked...(on a date I don't remember)....for moonshinin,"......and then
Rafe says..."H_ _ _ that was me!" Now I may be hearing things.....but
you folks check it out.....He may have said "Well...that was me!" But
it didn't sound like it. In any event..it was a great episode...and
after all I may have fallen victim to a spider bite or
something....they'll make you hear crazy things sometime!

The confusion with the name is very common, being that "There is a fountain"
only appears once (as the first line of the first verse, "There is a
fountain filled with blood..."). Whereas words referring to sinners losing
their guilty stains appear at the end of the verses and throughout the
chorus, "...sinners plunged beneath the flood lose alltheir guilty stains;
lose all their guilty stains, lose all their guilty stains, and sinners
plunged beneath the flood, lose all their guilty stains."
As you can see, it's easier to remember the repeated chorus than the title.

I noticed that after the episode"Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C"this is the episode where
Gomer joins the marines he's on seven more episodes of the Andy Griffith show
after he joins. Is this another contradiction on the Tags. Also another
contradiction is when Emma Brand couldn't get her pills from the lady druggist
in the episode"Ellie comes to town"everybody is bringing Emma soup and chicken
and everything, and she lived in town then,on the episode"The Manhunt"she lived
out near the lake.Gollllly and shazam, will wonders never cease. And don't hit

That's an easy one. They are specifically mentioned as cousins in
episodes 1,3 and 4.

In the episode "Aunt Bee The Warden", Andy's Hand is injured, and I think
it's injured in "The County Nurse" episode as well. Does anybody know if
Andy's hand is really injured. These episodes are back to back. I think
there's more to this.........than meets the eye.

Subject: canning jars for a present...
I've been catching up on Digests from the last week or so, and saw that
someone wondered why Andy would even think of getting Aunt Bee more canning
jars when he didn't like the pickles (and the ever-wonderful Harvey B. gave
us his "official" answer :-) ). I never thought much of why Andy'd get
her jars. I just assumed Aunt Bee canned more than just pickles and
marmalade. My grandma does a lot of canning, and it's not all pickles (hers
are tasty, though!). She also cans green beans (yummm), pickled beets (I
believe I'll just let the beets go by...), pickled okra (yum yummm!), apple
butter, grape jelly, hot dog relish (my personal favorite!), and other
stuff. Maybe Aunt Bee was good at canning vegetable soup or something! :-D

I need to correct yesterday's announcement about the Children's Trivia at
Mayberry Days. The hosts of that event are the trivia gurus from Tullahoma,
TN in the "She Called Me A Creatster" TAGSRWC Chapter (and a few are in
WBMUTBB too). I am always amazed at how well they ALL do at the trivia
contest, so they will do a great job with this new event for the kids.
The "Creatsters" also host the Mayberry Days Horseshoe Tournament. Stop by
and pitch a few horseshoes with them - behind the side lot of the Andy
Griffith Playhouse. I don't think Henry Bennett is there to jinx anyone.
