Hey all...regarding Ange kissing his ladies...remember the episode (#163)
"Andy's Rival"? This is the one where the handsome male teacher comes to town
to work on a school project with Helen. Andy gets really jealous and calls
Mavis Neff for a date which makes Helen mad. Afterward, Andy and Helen have a
big argument on Helen's front porch then kiss and make up. And they really
kiss cause Andy is kissing Helen while she is still trying to argue with him.
Of course, it works and she finally stops talking and kisses back! A great
ending! Also in this episode, we get to see a little streak of jealousy in
Aunt Bee. The scene in the kitchen where she is telling Andy to get out there
and impress Helen before that guy steals her away is hilarious. I realize
this was a post-Barney episode but it is well worth seeing over and over!!

Howdy yall, the fatman here again....usually don't speak my mind that much
but kissin is subject that "is right down my alley...kinda like
history"...just saw the episode with Mary and Andy at the lake where he
"courts her right there in public, cause no one noticed anyway and they did
it right there....it occurred to me, that car looked an awfully lot like the
one Aunt Bee bought from Goober later on....Did Mary sell it when she left
town? I wonder what she did for a living....she had the obligatory "single
girl in town" house to herself, and I don't remember where or if she worked.
She was a cutie though....that Andy was a son of a gun with the ladies.
Course Barney was the real ladies man....I guess 'cause he was so kind behind
the eyes..."
see yall next time, cause I'll be there, you can count on that, If I say I'll
be there I'll be there.......

To: booboo6572. Andy did kiss a few of the women. Miss Peggy (who was a doll
and he should have married) got a kiss after their double date with Barney
and Thelma Lou went to the lake. It was not a long passionate kiss though. In
an earlier episode, he also kissed the county nurse named Mary. Barney
thought they were going to get married and threw a surprise party for them
and they went into a long kiss at the end of their date. He kissed Helen
Crump several times. And at the high school reunion he kissed Sharon Despain!
He also kissed Thelma Lou on the cheek to scare her back to Barney while he
was getting kissed by Ellie Walker!!

When Charlene Darling Wash comes into town to get a divorce from Dud is
another episode where Andy does some kissing. ACTUALLY, he's on the receiving
end. Charlene grabs him and kisses him...good. Let me tell you, she kissed
that guy right ON the mouth!!!!

Debbie DuBose wrote that O'Malley's car was preyin on her mind- how did
O'Malley
plan to get home from town?
I have another one from that episode. At the beginning of the episode,
Floyd & Barney are out of gas & walk to O'Malley's cabin. Where did
they get the gas so Floyd & Sally could drive to town for groceries?
Just wondering.

I've got a great idea! Let's all chip in and buy our own network. Then we can
have TAGS playing 24/7. Any time you couldn't find something really great you
wanted to watch, flip over to Andy!! Think about it!!! I'll put up the first
dollar. Who's next?

Hi, yall! (I get the feeling the Fatman is trying to tell us we've been
punctuating "y'all" all wrong (and, no I ain't being mean by calling him
Fatman' because that's what he calls himself.) Are we, Fatman? Punctuating
yall wrong, I mean?
Anyway, back to Andy's kissing. His kissing one of the Nurse Marys (as
played by Julie Adams) has already been mentioned--you know, the one who
gave that shot to Rafe. But Andy also kissed another Nurse Mary, this one
played by Sue Ann Langdon, I think that is her real name.

Remember how he and she were trying to get a date to themselves but Barney
kept barging in and how finally Andy had to court her right out in
the convertible in front of the entire town, but it was OK because everyone
was singing and dancing so hard they couldn't hear them anyway?
Well, that boy landed one right on her mouth. He shorely did. He gave her
some good, as he likes to put it.

good kiss better than anything!

I put sugar in my cornbread and still call it "cornbread". As a matter of
fact, I put sugar in almost everything except fried chicken.

Hi, Beautiful People!

Janet, I agree with you 100%.
Sometimes when I think about Andy's personality, I think of the line from
the poem "If": "If all men count with you, but none too much."
It's as if he allows himself to only get so close with anyone and then he
backs away. The question is, was he always this way or did the pain of
loosing his first wife (and perhaps his first love, too, that Sharon
DeSpain) cause him too much pain? And remember, he grew up without a
mother. We don't know how old he was when he lost her. Maybe
he was just tried of losing people he loved.

I know he was closer to Barney than with anyone else. But if you think
closely, he really didn't open up with his personal life to Barney
either. Not the way Barney did with him. Barney carried his feelings on
his sleeves. Within seconds everyone knew exactly what was going on in
his life; not so with Andy. We never saw an episode of him thinking about
his wife (just a small reference once that he sometimes missed being married
and got lonely). Like Janet said, in spite of his many friendships, Andy was
in many ways a loner. So many people counted on him and yet he seemed to
lack the confidence to count on any of them. Maybe after he married Helen he
was able to open up again. I surely hope so.
After years of giving, surely he deserved to receive.

Hi Gang...

First a note to TV-land....I missed the marathon, can you run it again
this week, LOL Just kidding of course, it was actually a great
birthday present and I caught a big majority of the episodes. One thing
that always amazes me about TAGS or any show is that no matter how many
times you see an episode, you catch something new. I have seen the
episode about Opie and his history lesson with the new teacher Miss
Crump, many times but over the weekend it was the first time I heard a
great line out of Barney. When Andy wants Barn to tell him about the
emancipation proclamation, he says to Barney,"go ahead, I'm all ears!"
and Barney quickly snaps back with "you always were" LOL. It was kinds
quick and soft spoken, and I noticed several of those types of barbs
that I had not heard before, probably when there was other room noise or
outside distractions. Anyway, ole Andy certainly was not short in the
ear department in his earlier days like on TAGS, but as he aged, his
face kinda filled out to even things up.

Oh, one more thing I always wondered. When the governor came to skake
Barneys hand, why didn't he pay his fine while he was there. Put that
in your smike and poke it.

All I can say is " Hats Off " to TV Land for the wonderful Labor Day
Weekend Marathon they gave us. Three days of TAGS was just INCREDIBLE.
We orginally thought it was ending Monday morning at 6AM, only to find
it was running until this morning (Tuesday) at 6AM, and even then I
wished it didn't have to end. Without a doubt in all of TV, TAGS is the
best..........Thanks TV Land, you did Mayberry Proud!!...Dave

The L.A. Times is reporting today that Jean Speegle Howard, the mother of Ron
and Clint Howard, died Saturday in Burbank, Calif., of complications from heart
and respiratory illness. She was 73.

Mrs. Howard was an actress who appeared in several movies and TV shows. I
probably remember her most vividly from her scenes in "Apollo 13," where she
played Jim Lovell's mother, Blanche.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Mrs. Howard.

Subject: Teaching with TAGS

I teach third grade and am intrigued by the idea of using TAGS episodes to
teach character education. Many of the episodes teach lessons that are good at
any stage of life, and it's
impossible to find good G rated shows to use! I can think of several with Opie
that would be good - "Opie the Birdman" springs to mind immediately. My
question is this: have any of
you used TAGS episodes for this and how successful was it? I know it's been
used in Sunday School lessons, and I opvioously want to stay away from the
religious side, but there are
so many good lessons that we learned as kids (way back when!). Any teachers out
there?
